    Hi Miriam,
    You did an awesome job sharing the basics of setting up a village. With that knowledge, people can add their own creative flair and make a display that suits their own personal tastes. I think one of the biggest mistakes people make when they're doing something creative is to constantly compare themselves to others. That and trying to copy exactly what another person has already created. Videos like these should inspire us and allow us to create what speaks to us. We need to also remember it's a process. The more you work at it, learn from is and try new things, the better you will become. Creativity needs to be a joy and not a burden. Listen to your heart. Know what makes you smile. Create with reckless abandon. That last comment is from a papercrafting TH-camr I've been watching for years. Just have fun people. OK, I'm getting off my soapbox now. Wishing all the best to you and yours.

      😃😂😃. Amen!! That is always my goal, to offer inspiration that people can make their own. Crafting should always be fun, if it’s not, it’s time to take a break.

      I use Elmer’s school glue, it works great and is cheap for a large bottle.
      You can use any white glue that you have on hand. Mod Podge, styrofoam glue, elmers glue.

    I've been watching your videos for a couple of months and feel like I'm finally ready to get my platform started 😍 I collect the Hawthorne Village Harry Potter series and feel like a couple of small modifications of this particular platform will be perfect for the Hogwarts grounds/moving toward Hogsmeade village. Thank you for the inspiration!

      Hello Keira,’thanks so much for watching. I’m glad this helped and could offer some inspiration.
      One of subscribers started a TH-cam channel and she also does a Harry Potter village. She built some pieces for her village and used some green in her platforms and it looked amazing. I will copy part 1 and 2 of her Harry Potter village. Maybe that can also offer some inspiration since it is the same village series.

    Would you please do a video on how you got the trains for the village? what do you look for in a train? The trains I see in the stores seem too large for the scale. Thank you.

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello,
      I am not that educated on trains to give good advice. I can tell you that I have an HO scale train but I’m not a big fan of it. It is too small for my villagers and mine details a lot. I would rather have an O scale train which is a little larger. I feel like this is a better size for the village and the trains are a little heavier and from what I hear don’t derail as often.
      There are a lot of model railroaders on TH-cam who can give you much better info and do a great job of breaking down the differences of the trains.

    I want to create my village more going upwards than width wise any suggestions on where I start I am from the uk and absolutely love all the videos

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Mandy,
      I am also using levels in my village this year. There are lots of ways to accomplish this. You can build a base out of styrofoam or wood. If you want an easier option, you can always use books, or sturdy bins and cover them with a snow blanket. Wood pallets is another great way to go because they have slats in them already to drop your cords through.
      Hope this helps! 😂

    Hi Miriam I am a newbie to your site but love your work. I have been a village for quite some time but never used a train. I am looking at 40X50 train track and using it on a 4X8 sheet of MDF, would that work? I am wondering if it would be to close to the front of the Village and to close to the end of the MDF. Please advise

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Cindy,
      Thank you so much. If your train track is 40” wide, you would have 8 inches left in the front of the board if you set the train all the way towards the back. Or, you can float it in the middle and have 4” left on both sides.
      It won’t affect the train if it is close to the edge. I had my train right on the edge in the front of my village last year. It is just a personal preference on how you are designing your village layout.
