    Hi Miriam,
    Another winner for sure. I've always just used risers, boxes, buckets ect to give height to my villages, but your mountains are just so awesome. With my art course and current work drama, I just didn't have time to create a mountain like I had hoped to. I'm definitely going to have to start saving my styrofoam and see what I can come up with for next year. Can you believe I already have an idea for a theme for next year? Yeah, that's how my squirrel brain works. I wrote it down so I wouldn't forget and will probably start playing around with the idea in the first of the year. My current art project is now complete so I can focus 100% back on my village. I think I've been spending too much time on one section that just isn't coming together completely. My plan now is to leave it be and focus on a different area. I think once my attention is away from said section, the creative juices will begin to flow and I can bring it all together into one cohesive piece. Fingers crossed. As always, wishing all the best to you and yours.

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! What!! Next years plan already??!! That is awesome! 😀. Make sure to put your plan in with the village stuff you unpack first so you won’t loose it.
      I thinks that is a great idea. Step away from it if you have a mental block and move on. I do that myself quite a bit when I am stuck.
      I feel like the pressure is on more because Christmas is only 2 1/2 months away. I have so much to do! 😂

    I wish I could give you 100 thumbs up for this video. It is soooooo awesome. Just fantastic, no kidding. I love it. I wonder if you might consider doing a video on this issue that I bet many have, but get stuck. Okay, let's say I am building a village that is 10 feet from left to right. Problem is, it will end up being 6 foot wide. My arms just cannot reach that deep into the table. How in the world can I figure a way to have a 10' X 6' table, and get it where I can work on any area of the table I want to, without needing a crane to reach over my table to assemble everything? I hope you understand what on earth I am trying to ask you. I think you could get rich just selling mountain pieces to villagers just like the one you created here. Again, just awesome.

      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw, thanks so much!! I know exactly what you are talking about. I actually am going to do the next live stream on village set up and I will address this issue with a few solutions. I usually do one table at a time and start in the back. I have to get creative with building my village this year because I will run into that issue.

    Hi Miriam! Thanks so much for everything I am learning from watching your videos. I’ve been watching throughout the last year and am preparing for my first village set up this season!! Just finished my first mountain/waterfall.
    I have a question about foam. You have mentioned using foam insulation sheets from Lowe’s/Home Depot. The sheets I’m finding have a facing on them. Do you use unfaced sheets or are you able to peel off the facing? I’m mostly concerned about how the facing would cut with a hot knife.
    Thanks again, you are a true delight and even my 3 year old daughter knows your videos! And she is so excited for our village ( I ordered her a plastic village set through Dollar Tree so she can play with it and not Mommy’s, LOL)

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks so much Carrie,
      I am so glad to know my videos have helped. I think that’s so precious your ordered your daughter a village. Pretty soon, she will be like my children and want a real village like mommies. 😂🤣
      I do peel of both sides of the protective layer before I use the foam. It cuts better that way and also the pieces stick together better when it is foam against foam.
      Let me know if you have any other questions. 😃

    I learn something new in every video - thanks! One question for you: wouldn’t it be possible to create the rock detail by carving with the HWFF tools rather than attaching foam scraps and plastering them?

    Hello Miriam, I have recently discovered your channel and am hooked lol. I can't count how many video's I have binge watched in the last couple weeks trying to get ideas and help on how to do my first village. Your video's are absolutely amazing and very instructive. I actually tried making your plaster trees on the weekend and was very happy with how they turned out for my first try. I am going to attempt a small mountain this year and was thinking of painting it in arctic colors, more white and blues but I have no idea where to start with the paints. Would you be able tell me how to go about painting a mountain this way? Or maybe adding this to one of your video's one day :)
    Thank you for all the work you put into your video's, it is greatly appreciated.

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Stephanie,
      Thanks so much, I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos. I love that you are jumping right in and trying things. The more you try, the better you get faster and faster.
      For your arctic mountain, I would start first with your different shades of blue starting from darkest to lightest and the finally the white. If it were me, I would paint the entire top white and then add fine snow to the wet white paint for a realistic snow look. You could also add super fine iridescent glitter once the snow is applied.
      I might be able to do a video next month once I get to my back mountains for my village. We’re you planning on doing your mountains before then?

    • @stephanien2956
      @stephanien2956 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MiriamsManner I love the idea of adding the snow and glitter to the white paint, it will definitely make it look more like my Canadian winters lol (I am in Toronto)
      I am just starting to work on my layout and then I will have to start building my bases and the mountain so I am sure I will not get to painting for at least a few weeks as this is my first attempt at anything like this.
      Thank you for your advice and I look forward to seeing how you will create this. I know it will be as amazing as the rest of your village pieces.

      Great! I am working on two different styles right now. One should be posted by tomorrow and the other will take 2 more days because it will have a water feature.

      Most of the time I sell them after the season or in my storage closet.

    Hi Miriam. I love this design. I wish you had a book. I am going to try several of your designs 😱 and hopefully it will go well. I have heard you mention an email address. Would it be possible to get that from you ? Also, when is your next “live” class? Of course, if you do have a book, magazine, or anything like that please tell me where i can buy it. I love your designs..which is why as a first timer, newbie I am starting a 5 segment extensive project. 🙄 so we will see how it goes. LOL

      Hello Again! 😃. I don’t have a book but you can ask me any questions you like. I would be glad to help as much as I can. If I don’t know the answer, I usually can provide a good resource for you.
      My email address is miriamsmanner@gmail.com
      I am thinking of doing the next live stream Sunday 11/21 at 9:00am MST.

      @@MiriamsManner I am so appreciative of you willingness to help me. I’m very excited about how these changes will make my village look. I’m cleaning out the area and arranging the tables this weekend. I have plastic 6 x 2.5 tables and no wood at this time. In an effort to save at least $100 I’m thinking about making my lowest layer by gluing the styrofoam to cardboard boxes…. So I can “bury” the electric. So, thank you again SO much. Where do I find and join your “live” class. I will be looking for you 11/21 around noon EST. Nettie

      Hello Sally, I did. It make this piece for myself. This was a custom piece made to order the the client was putting in their own snow. The buildings were simply put there to stage what it could look like.

      I buy insulation foam from Lowe’s and peel the protective layers off of them. The link is below.

    Why the plaster??

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use plaster in this case to shape the rock how I like. You don’t have to use plaster. You can also cut straight into the styrofoam. It just depends on what look you are going for. I do have other tutorials that show other methods. 😁
