      The size of this village 20x4 ft. The top NP level was 8ft long and 2.5 ft by its widest point in the center. Out of necessity this year the village will be 24' x 6' and the wings at the end will by 8 ft . The top NP section is 8'x3.5' in the middle.

    Hi Miriam,
    Glad to see that you're finally getting your village started. You cracked me up with how you got your board up on the sawhorses. Been there. Done that. The things we crafters do to get our villages set up. Sometimes (most times) you just can't wait for when someone else is free to help. You've just got to do your thing and make it happen. And not hurt yourself in the process.
    I can't believe there's only a week left in this month. This is the earliest I've ever started setting up and I already feel so far behind. The whole idea/theme is there but it's coming together in tiny bits and pieces. Like I've said before, patience never has been one of my many virtues. Like humility. Haha!
    One focal point of my village I thought I would have to scrap because of the size and weight of a particular item I wanted to use. Thankfully Mom came to my rescue with an idea and item of her own that was on a much smaller scale and ended up working out perfectly. I brought in most of my houses. They're sitting in the floor still in their boxes. I think once I get a bit more prepping done, Im going to take them out and start sitting them around. Visual seems to work best for me. I'll audition a few layouts and placements and see what makes me smile.
    Looking forward to your next video. Wishing all the best to you and yours.

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Lloyd,
      You are absolutely right about not being able to wait. I have waited two weeks longer than what I really wanted to I was itching to get started. 😂🤣.
      I do feel like time is beginning to creep in. I wanted to be a little farther along at this point but I think I can still manage to get everything done in time.
      I’m so glad Mom was able to give a solution to your problem. I know exactly what you mean. I have designed 3 layouts and scrapped them all. They were all great but I’m just not getting that feeling. I know you know exactly what I mean. It will come to me.
      I have started making a few new things for my village. I’m hoping to release both those videos next week.
      Tell Mom I said hello. Take care and God bless you both.

    Hi Mariam!
    So glad to see this video! I have been eyeing the exact same backdrop for my village! A question about the twinkling lights....do they stay cool to the touch? They look amazing behind the backdrop!!!! Thank you so much for the links to everything you used. I wish I could find a backdrop stand with just two crossbars. It appears Amazon only has triple or single. Did you find a double one in your searches? One more question....what about the sides of the backdrop stand? Is it just a matter of playing with the draping of the backdrop so the sides of the stand don't show or do you recommend something else? Again, thank you so much for this video! It answered so many of my questions about how to hang the backdrop!! Blessings to you and your family!

      Hello Mary, I’m so glad you were able to see what it looks like since you want it too. There are a couple other people in our group that already have the same one too!
      Yes, the lights stay cool to the touch. I left them on for 3 hours just to test it and they do.
      When I did a broad google search, I did see one with 2 crossbars but I don’t think I saw one on Amazon.
      I adjusted my stand to be slightly more narrow than my backdrop to hide the poles on the sides. I really want to put trees on both sides of the backdrop though. I will have to wait and see if I can fit it in my budget. 😂🤣

    What size backdrop did you use? Believe it or not, I have the single bar stand in my garage. Ive had it for 5-6 years, sitting in its bag in the corner. I never knew what I was going to use it for......until now :)

      That is awesome!! My backdrop is a 10’x10’. They have that exact same one in different sizes. I put the link for it in the description box of the video. 😁

    If I used 2” foam board for the base, wouldn’t it hold the weight so I don’t need a wood base?

      @MiriamsManner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, it would depend on the amount of buildings you have and what all you put in it. I personally wouldn’t take the chance. If you do, you should at least get the pink foam which is more dense and solid than the white insulation foam.

    Hello,
    I love your videos! Where did you get your styrofoam boards from? I'm having a hard time finding larger size ones.

    I finally found local store that had the 2 inch foam insulation. Question do you peel the coating (clear & silver) off both sides and also is there an easier way. Its like trying to unravel saran wrap lol

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      😂🤣😂. Yes, I do peel it off of both sides. And no, I haven’t found N easier way to do. If you do, let me know! 😃

    Can you use Yesso instead of Plaster?

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Yvette, I have never worked with that product. If it has a consistency and hardens like plaster, I’m sure you could use it.

    Any tips for a backdrop for those of us who use a wooden ladder with shelves added?

    • @MiriamsManner
      @MiriamsManner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can get a smaller backdrop and glue it to a large piece of cardboard. Then staple gun the cardboard to the back shelf.
      If you are artistic, you could also try your hand at painting your own backdrop behind the shelves. Trees can be really easy to paint.
      Not sure how old you are and if you remember a painter named Bob Ross. I LOVED watching him when I was a child and you can find his videos on TH-cam.
      He makes painting trees easy.
