I'm not a business user, I do travel and go on vacation overseas, I need a lightweight, fast and reliable laptop for music videos, Netflix, and sometimes emails or signing PDF's. X1 is hands down one of the best ultrabooks I wish people would stop lumping it into business professionals only it veers people away to getting an LG GRAM or XPS 13 instead of this wonderful machine. I got the 7th Gen , 4k UHD, 16gb, 1TB, 8th Gen i7 model with carbon weave on top. Lovely machine.

    Hi,
Do you have any idea about the new FHD panel with privacy guard 500 nits and touch? Is the battery life same as UHD model? And does privacy guard affect the viewing angle or same as the other FHD panels?
    Thanks

Good video. ThinkPads have the best keyboards on the market in my opinion. I have a first gen X1 Yoga with the OLED screen. After 4 years it is running just as fast as the day I got it. I feel no need whatsoever to replace it with another laptop. Just do not feel like I could gain much with what is on the market in the 14" size or smaller. If I had to get a new laptop 14" or smaller it would probably be the latest model Lenovo X1 Carbon. Possibly an X1 Yoga though I only really use the 2 in 1 feature when I am on a plane.

I bought one a few weeks back. I've had significant issues with sound/mic. In short, they don't work. On the positive side I've received great customer service. After two support tickets and multiple remote sessions, today I placed the order for my replacement...about 5 minutes later got my first blue screen. Fabulous machine otherwise. Hopefully my experience is an anomaly and the replacement doesn't have these silly issues

I wish more laptops still allowed the user to upgrade the RAM and SSD. The lack of this feature is a deal breaker for many.
Plus Lenovo s pricing fluctuates almost by the minute!

I have the 7th Gen with 10th Gen Core I7, 16gb RAM. and 1tb SSD. I saw that the changes are minimal going to the 8th Gen X1. I recommend the 7th Gen if you can get it at a good discount over the 8th Gen. Hard to find fault with anything on this machine. Amazingly light yet non flexing and solid. Great keyboard, Loud and clear speakers. Great port selection.

got my 7th gen 3 days ago, brand new for 1450$ has the 8th Gen i7, 16gb, 1t, 4k UHD, and LTE if I need it. So far so good, I did re-paste the cpu and under vaulted it, she runs like a dream.

Have you tested the battery life while normal using, how long this x1 can survive. Because as we know that the thinkpad line is for business and working, but after searching for top 10 or 20 laptop which have long battery life, no thinkpad serie on the list. I am so concern about this issue so much.

Change the aspect ratio with narrower bezel and upgrade resolution to qhd standard and it would be perfect machine.

These are fantastic machines and do so much right. I have a G7 with the 8th gen I7, 16GB and a 1TB NVME. Lenovo would do themselves a huge favor by allowing more user upgrades (the wireless nic, for example, is soldered on like the RAM) and have a more fluid pricing scheme, but for the money, I think this is the best laptop for what I do. I can use it for work as the IT admin and use it at home in bed to watch TheDigitalDigest while doing some light gaming (think Skyrim and older AAA titles with turned down yet still fun settings). I love mine.

not really! 1080p screen is to small for a developer and PWM flickering on the 4K screens is just terrible!... and nowadays with covid... a terrible webcam for online meetings

i just bought the X1 Carbon and it was a utter disappointment i have to say it lasted 20 days. I was using is regularly as a student and one day while watching Netflix all I did was tilt the screen using the bottom right corner and the screen cracked. And when the model first arrived I also had a problem with the right palm rest making weird clicky sounds every time I rest my hands on it.

Ok so I bought one, I suggest you DONT GET IT. I honestly suggest that everyone should stay clear of Lenovo. Their products look good but trust me you don't want to deal with their customer service it's absolute crap . They honestly have the worst customer support. God forbid you get a defective, good luck. You will be stuck dealing with their third-party customer service for months who lie and decieve. It's not a one time experience I am talking about it's on multiple occasions. Honestly I have given up and accepted the loss. In comparison I had some battery issues on my MacBook pro. Apple called me in 2 mins had an appointment made and problem was resolved in one day including repairs. Save yourself the time and money
