You get to see these postures in southern temple walls. Bharatha Naatyam a beautiful dance form which involves hand gestures facial expressions and foot for rhythm and fluidity. Entire body infact is involved in dance ballets. Yes, it is also geometrically perfect with free flowing spirit.

Original/old name of this dance is Sathir-attam. The dance spread across India from TamilNadu as Bharathanatiyam. This dance was practised mainly in Thanjavur temple and surrounding areas.
The temple of god of dance is Thillai Nagarajar or Chidhambaram Nagarajar temple, TamilNadu.

Bharatanatyam, is the oldest Indian classical dance form originated in the Tanjore district of tamil Nadu and regarded as the mother of many other classical dance forms of India. Firstly, it was initiated in the Hindu temples of Tamil Nadu and eventually flourished in South India.

Hey Indi. Its great that you're doing this dance reaction. Many people even in India are unaware that how diverse their culture is (including me). Being from the north, I had heard about Bharatnatyam but I'm seeing it for the first time. Could you please continue to this as a series by taking dances from different parts of the country? I'm sure many people can break the stereotype images.

@@sanyakaundal6103 Bhangra is a folk dance traditionally performed for the harvest festival. This dance form however is classical. Dancers practice rigorously for over 12 years. The discipline is every bit if not even more demanding than ballet. You should have at least the cultural literacy to not compare a folk tradition with a classical one. In Britain, no one ever compares Morris dancing to Ballet.

Glad you picked up on the nuances of the song you mentioned at the end of the video. It’s actually the recitation of the drum composition notation. So if you close your eyes to just listen, you will hear how the drums follow the composition notation. To be able to recite it perfectly at speed is another great skill and it often gets overlooked by those unfamiliar with the dance forms and the accompanying music. The composition uses drum sounds and therefore sounds different to words that are sung.
Aruna Sairam did a great piece at the London Darbar ‘Kalinga Nartana’ which might be good for you to review. The song composition uses poetry and drum notation to depict a child Krishna dancing on the head of a serpent. The composition is therefore not only melodic but uses the structure of drum composition to great effect. The audience gave her a standing ovation at the end!
