Nancy Wilson was a legendary talent with a voice like no other. I just found out that she passed in December 2018. I love listening to her. RIP you GREAT LADY! 😥
So true. My very first concert as an early teen in the mid 60's was one my mom took me to featuring Nancy Wilson, vibraphone player Lionel Hampton, and the Si Zentner Orchestra. She was so beautiful and elegant! When we first moved into a new neighborhood in 1959 when I was 9 years old one of my new friends mom and dad had a huge collection of jazz records including many of Ms. Wilson's. That's when I first heard her. Jazz was at it's height and Motown was blowing up. A wonderful time for music. Although I gave away my huge record collection over 25 years ago (I'm now 74) and am not as much into music, I kept all of hers I had bought over the years. Those and Earth, Wind, and Fire :-). On one of the covers she's actually wearing the elegant dress she performed in at the concert we attended. Peace.

I heard her for the first time back in the early 60's on my transistor radio. I was blown away by her voice and still am to this day. I was only 12 years old when I heard her then.
The early sixties is when this song was released, Guess who I saw today! Was introduced to me. As a young child, I would listen and love, this beautiful lady's voice. She was a classic, one of a kind performer. Thanks for sharing this memory ❤
And she never had a starring movie role or a TV seriess of her own! Thank goodness. Otherwise, we'd have been denied the pleasure of hearing her mastery-- of an ironic song, of the mic, her elocution, the different placements of vowels and consonants--some from the sides of the mouth, others eluding musical definition. And so hip---to bring the Cole Porter novelty song (Miss Otis Regrets) into her big pop hit--opening up a new dimension for both tunes. This is a level of sophisticated musicianship that we're on the verge of losing. Notice her non-stop monolog and then, without missing a beat, grabbing her first pitch from out of the air somewhere. Other singers sit or stand with their guitars out front, banging on chords, until they hear one they like--then take their chances at starting on the right pitch. (Perhaps of no matter with the introduction of "auto-tuners.)
I like your depiction , it is filled with the substance of a great orator. You were able to fill-in a detailed Birdseye, play by play view of a carefully crafted delivery of a song in concert that is a must see. your words are crafted with the art of brilliance also. I am just an appreciative fan of your written blog GoMoore
I had the pleasure of seeing her perform a number of times, through the years, in New York, and in Los Angeles, going back to my teen years. The last time was her seventieth birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. The show was rather long due to many guest stars, such as the late, great Natalie Cole. I was worried about catching the last train back to Pasadena. I could not leave, however, until she sang this song. R.I.P. Miss Wilson.

RIP Nancy Wilson... I'm honored to have gotten to share the stage with her. She was a legendary singer and a wonderful person and will be sorely missed.
Wow, are you a musician?
The way she weaves Miss Otis Regrets into Guess Who I Saw Today… genius! Nancy makes you see the entire scene with the lyrics.
Yes! I am 36 I have been a Nancy fan since I heard her version of I Can't Make You Love Me and was in tears.
I have been listening to her since I was 14 years old, you can't find talent like this today. Do I miss her yes, but she will be with us forever thanks to man's inventions

Smiles, absolutely beautiful Anne, feels really great listening, how are you doing?
a jazz GIANT....but more than that, Mrs Wilson was one of the greatest vocalists, this country ever produced. I miss her.
You're so late getting home from the office
Did you miss your train?
Were you caught in the rain?
No, don't bother to explain
Can I fix you a quick martini?
As a matter of fact
I'll have one with you
For to tell you the truth
I've had quite a day too
Guess who I saw today, my dear
I went in town to shop around for something new
And thought I'd stop and have a bite when I was through

I heard her for the first time back in the early 60's on my transistor radio. I was blown away by her voice and still am to this day. I was only 12 years old when I heard her then.
The early sixties is when this song was released, Guess who I saw today!
Was introduced to me. As a young child, I would listen and love, this beautiful lady's voice.
She was a classic, one of a kind performer. Thanks for sharing this memory ❤
I just love me some Ms. Wilson..
I'm so infatuated with this Goddess....she's classy like my Mom was. Nancy did have a TV show or two though 😀
RIP QUEEN Nancy! We just lost her i heard less than an hour ago. ❤❤😢😢👑👑👑🎙🎙🎙
YES YES YES
you go girl tell it like it is love this lady
I had the pleasure of seeing her perform a number of times, through the years, in New York, and in Los Angeles, going back to my teen years. The last time was her seventieth birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl. The show was rather long due to many guest stars, such as the late, great Natalie Cole. I was worried about catching the last train back to Pasadena. I could not leave, however, until she sang this song. R.I.P. Miss Wilson.
How very fortunate you were! I have been listening to her since I was a child...first on LPs my mother played. What a lady!
Fantastic. Nancy performs a classic songs with her voice that is like no other.
Bless you Nancy Wilson. You were a class act, a legend in your own time. We were blessed to have you in our midst. May you forever rest in peace. Nancy Wilson, Born: February 20, 1937, Chillicothe, OH
