    The car needs to be idling & warm when unbolting the fluid level plug (when checking the fluid level). The fluid should be a very thin fine stream when coming out. Not dripping like on the video. If its dripping add a half of quart more, cycle the gears and recheck.

    Tip, from a good source, always, always remove or loosen the fill plug first, if the fill plug is ceased or stuck to the pan and you happen to strip it out while removing it after you have drained the oil, you will not be able to refill the pan with fresh oil or your car will be non-operational until you figure a way to remove your fill plug to add new oil. Also, it is recommended that the transmission oil is drained at running temperature, drive the car for 15-20 minutes and let idle for another 2-5 minutes, let it cool down for a few minutes then drain.

    So this method should work on 2013 JX35. Infiniti wants $300 just to check the transmission fluid. I have 180k on car, of which I put 60k (car used and purchased from an Infiniti dealer). Having put 60k, do you think its time to change out transmission fluid?

    These cvts have a recall so you could go to dealer and he’ll put a new one. For the dipstick just bend that piece of metal the plastic cap will work fine after wards. You need to drain the oil from the 19mm plug and put back 3.5 litres CVT oil. Don’t play with the overflow or filter and gaskets etc as the filter is not under pressure to replace it like in engine oil filters. And the washer on the plug is re-usable you don’t need to spend lots of money 2014-17 pathfinders are cheap now to resale. The dealer does not change filters or gaskets etc . 15-20 mins job. Thanks

    Hello, thanks for the video, just want to ask, i have a 2013 pathfinder, i got it when it only has 19k miles now it has 103k, can i still do this method? I tried asking the dealer to replace the cvt fluid but none of them wants to do it, they told me to leave it alone because of the amout of miles and the car is old, they alao told me that if the cvt fluid has not been change since they dont advice changing it at this time, i really need any input in this.

      Sounds like terrible advice. Go to a reputable Nissan dealership

    • @mirandabri834
      @mirandabri834 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't listen to that advice friend. That's not true; however the Longer you wait the condition could get worse and probably will. That being said just make Sure if You do it yourself that the car is level at both ends and pull your overfill plug at the recommended temperature(s) then whenever you drain it, Make SURE YOU MEASURE IT EXACTLY SO whenever you put the new back in it is the SAME EXACT AMOUNT, OR AT LEAST VERY CLOSE! Then run it to the recommended temperature again and this time shift it through all the gears from park down through all of them and back and forth about 5 to 8 times and just do it how you normally shift it.....(not like speed racer) then with it at temperature and running--(on) go underneath it once more and open the overfill plug and see if it has a steady slow flow and if so then your Fine--- close it up with the plug then your done!
      Now as you drive it around, listen for Anything abnormal or if it is shifting weird and if so and your Not getting any check engine lights on then take it home or to a garage and check your overfill to make Sure it's not too much or to little as described above! Take care and God bless.

      Actually, some mechanics advice that if it went too long for you to change the tranny fluid, they do advice to just keep it as is. Their reason to that is that if you flush the transmission fluid at this point, the old shavings and varnish might get disturbed by the flushing and float with the new fluid and might clog the tranny. But I have no experience in this, just telling you what they say. I always have my tranny fluid replaced every 50k miles.

      Ignore the owners manual and the dealership advice, these CVT fluid should change imo roughly every 30,000 miles, they get filthy, also drop the pan clean the magnets and replace the filter and gasket, you will save the life of your CVT

      Most cities have a collection place for chemicals/fluids and it’s usually free. Also many of the major stores will take it too, like: O’Reilly, advanced auto, autozone. It’s also usually free or very cheap to bring it there.
