Sure. You can set the macro to ABB standard (parameter 9902 - also the default). Then connect the pot to pins 2,3, and 4 with the wiper being on 2. Make sure you close the start/stop on pin 13 (digital input 1). Now switch the keypad from local to remote and the speed pot should work.

And I use ABB ACH 550's and this tutorial helped me operate some cooling tower fans in Local/Manual mode just now, saving our 2ndary chiller plant in our building where I work as an Engineer. Mine always shows €0.10 /day. What does that account for? And why isn’t it in USD? Is that how much it should cost me a day? Also how do you calculate it? I see in settings I can change the value to what ever I want.
thanks alot for your reply, there was no fault showing, I figured that this is a matter of relay output stting and I was right , I just change parameter 1403 in group 14 from 3 to 4 which activate the relay output only in case of fault instead of been on by default.... thanks alot again for your support, you are the best

The drive will continue to run. However, it must be in REMOTE control mode to do so. If keypad is in LOCAL control mode and running and you remove the keypad the drive will fault.

zeiuss ocampo I am not really sure what you are trying to do, but an ACS550 can be run off of a scada if the outputs of the scada match the inputs of the drive. Also, I am not too sure on what you mean by drive relay... Are you referring to the drive's output relays?
sorry i delayed,you was of great assistance but after which it reset and the fault reoccurred,mean while what happens now is that when you want to varry the speed it will trip at above 0.7hz with same fault f004.but when i bring it down to 0 or little above to run for like 10-20 minutes it can them varri the speed.the out put power supply is stable,pls is there any fault inside the drive or what to reset

We are slowly trying to switch them all to run remotely via Honeywell scada. we have encountered issue s though with our older drives will not work due to their firmware. I have to assume you mean the buttons on the keypad, if so replace the keypad and try accessing fault log again. This drive is obsoleted now though and we do not sell anything for them accept repair service.

Since a VFD converts AC into DC and then inverts the DC into a variable voltage and frequency AC, switching two of the input wires has no effect on the output. You need to switch two of the output wires from the VFD to the motor in order to reverse motor direction. Let me know if this helps. Alarm 5001 means “Drive is not responding”, this is usually a loss of communications between the drive and the keypad. I would suggest, with the power off, remove the keypad and the connector that goes between the drive and the keypad and then reset them. This will quit often fix the problem, if not try a different keypad and see if the problem follows the keypad or the drive and replace the defective component.
OK Myo, for Analog input 1 connect your signal to X1 terminal 2+ & 3 -, and to use 4-20ma type signal you must flip switch J1 position 1 to ON and this configures AI1 for a ma signal, ok? Keep in mind the drive will run on the analog signal inputs automatically if no Preset speed input is activated. The preset speed select inputs will always override the analog inputs, ok?Good luck

Drives are not meant to run a transformer and transformers are not built to be fed with PWM type power. PWM power may cause over heating when miss used like this, we will not recommend it.
my vfd showing ALARM 2021 and it write down that( start enable enable 1 missing ) . and then when I in detail I mean in diagnosed it write there comm linesand connections parameter 3002, parameter in groups 10 and 11
I changed parameter 1103 to 2 for AL2 but drive is still no work for 2 speed.And then i changed signal input from AI2 to AI1 with jamper switch AI1 is on and parameter 1103 to 1. Remove all wiring except for three phase power, if fault still exists, it’s most likely a drive problem. In the manual it states that it could caused be a supply disturbance, you could try a different power source just to make sure. If the fault clears after removing all the wires, try reconnecting one wire at a time to figure out which wire is causing the fault. As for repair, depending on the size of the drive, there may not be parts available. Most drives just have a single part in the drive, so if you were to get that, you basically bought the drive.
If you're using the hand/auto macro then it should just be a digital input. If you mean hand being the keypad and auto being a terminal strip, then it should be just the local/remote button on the keypad. To be honest, I will need to have a little more information. What type of macro are you in and what are you trying to accomplish?

The drive doesn't seem to have a direct configuration for power-on RUN mode. However if you jumper the start input (actual terminal depends your Macro selected) the drive will go right into run mode in a couple seconds of power-on, ok?

Find switch J1 (2 position DIP switch) and move position 2 to off position. Default is 1=off (for 0-10volt input) and position 2=on for current input. If you move it to off position both inputs will be set for 0-10volt input, ok?

Try asking the question again, but the screen is display on keypad,,, right? and by startup you mean it does not come on at all OR the drive does start running?
No, the drive can only put out 3 phase power and there are only 3 output terminals. What you are talking about requires a hard wire change at the motor wiring itself.

When you switch the parameters on 9902, the wiring for the IO also changes. A1 should still be the same, but you will also need to close the run enable (DI 6/pin 18) and to switch between speed and torque control you can check the connection on DI 3/ pin 15. Check to see if that works.
Yes of course you can, the direction of rotation can be changed anytime, running or not. The keypad display will indicate the direction change with the little arrow next to the REM/LOC indicator in upper right corner of the keypad display.
You can not change the output current to voltage with a parameter. Use a 250 ohm resistor across the output for 5 volts at 20ma, or 500 ohm for 10 volts at 20ma.

If not click on this link for a digital copy www.galco.com/techdoc/abbi/acs550-u1-038a-4_um.pdf Be sure parameter 9802 = 1 (Standard Modbus), then check parameter 5302= "Drive address" (this must be a unique number for each drive connect to a common trunk line) 5303= "baud rate" selected must match all items connected to same line. So 5302 must all be unique numbers, and 5303 must be the same number. 5304= "Parity selection" must match all items connected and 5305 leave default=0. Please let us know how you do.

I followed the steps in the video, but my motor went in the opposite direction. I switched two of the input power wires going to the VFD and it made no difference. I also checked to made sure that the display shows the motor is going in the forward direction. So why is mine going in the reverse?
I just bought a control board from china for my ABB ACS550 DRIVE 55 kw~ The local ABB technician called it as 55kw but in china it is 45 kw~ So i actually purchased a wrong control board 55kw for 45 kw (as in china) for my drive~ But the seller told me that i can actually change the default data using the display panel from 55kw to 45 kw~ so does anyone know how to change the data base?
The parameter for selecting power rating can be accessed with the standard keypad, follow this sequence to access hidden parameters; enter parameter list and access hidden parameter group 105 by pressing Select button and simultaneously pressing both up and down arrow keys and the left function key for 4 seconds. The display should flash once, press the exit button and find group 105 and parameter 10509. Use the up/down arrow keys to select the correct drive power rating then press save. Cycle power and access parameter 3304 to verify correct power rating has been accepted by the drive. Good luck.
Note: you need to backup current configuration to keypad before accessing hidden parameters otherwise you will have to start over with any previously adjusted parameters. Also to save hidden parameters access parameter 10502 and enter a 1. Then cycle power to put drive back to normal parameter access, ok?

How to prereset the command speed function to be at 0 everytime the drive switched on? I had a problem that my drive preset at 50hz everytime.

The drive will continue to run. However, it must be in REMOTE control mode to do so. If keypad is in LOCAL control mode and running and you remove the keypad the drive will fault.

Hello, if volts used for the motor is 230v. Why are you using 0.8 amps and not 1.4 that falls under 220-240v?

There is no way for the end user to change the firmware in the drive, only the factory can do it.

now input signal is using DI1 and DI3 for two speeds. I would like to use DI1 input only for two speeds.

Remove all wiring except for three phase power, if fault still exists, it’s most likely a drive problem. In the manual it states that it could caused be a supply disturbance, you could try a different power source just to make sure. If the fault clears after removing all the wires, try reconnecting one wire at a time to figure out which wire is causing the fault. As for repair, depending on the size of the drive, there may not be parts available. Most drives just have a single part in the drive, so if you were to get that, you basically bought the drive.
how can I change the working status of the drive from the hand mode to the auto mode?
If you're using the hand/auto macro then it should just be a digital input. If you mean hand being the keypad and auto being a terminal strip, then it should be just the local/remote button on the keypad. To be honest, I will need to have a little more information. What type of macro are you in and what are you trying to accomplish?

It is a little unclear on what you are trying to accomplish. Are you saying that you are getting a maximum of 9 Hz when you are at 10 Volts?

The drive doesn't seem to have a direct configuration for power-on RUN mode. However if you jumper the start input (actual terminal depends your Macro selected) the drive will go right into run mode in a couple seconds of power-on, ok?

Find switch J1 (2 position DIP switch) and move position 2 to off position. Default is 1=off (for 0-10volt input) and position 2=on for current input. If you move it to off position both inputs will be set for 0-10volt input, ok?

Make sure that your PLC has put some reference on AI2 so the drive knows how fast to go.
Yes. PLC out analog 0-10V OK. I have used voltage meter at AI2 = 5V.

No, the screen is not dis play on keypad
Have you replaced the keypad yet? If so, It sounds like the the power supply in the drive has failed, replace the drive.

No, the drive can only put out 3 phase power and there are only 3 output terminals. What you are talking about requires a hard wire change at the motor wiring itself.

When you switch the parameters on 9902, the wiring for the IO also changes. A1 should still be the same, but you will also need to close the run enable (DI 6/pin 18) and to switch between speed and torque control you can check the connection on DI 3/ pin 15. Check to see if that works.
can we change its direction in motor stop condition?
Yes of course you can, the direction of rotation can be changed anytime, running or not. The keypad display will indicate the direction change with the little arrow next to the REM/LOC indicator in upper right corner of the keypad display.

You can not change the output current to voltage with a parameter. Use a 250 ohm resistor across the output for 5 volts at 20ma, or 500 ohm for 10 volts at 20ma.

If not click on this link for a digital copy www.galco.com/techdoc/abbi/acs550-u1-038a-4_um.pdf Be sure parameter 9802 = 1 (Standard Modbus), then check parameter 5302= "Drive address" (this must be a unique number for each drive connect to a common trunk line) 5303= "baud rate" selected must match all items connected to same line. So 5302 must all be unique numbers, and 5303 must be the same number. 5304= "Parity selection" must match all items connected and 5305 leave default=0. Please let us know how you do.

I followed the steps in the video, but my motor went in the opposite direction. I switched two of the input power wires going to the VFD and it made no difference. I also checked to made sure that the display shows the motor is going in the forward direction. So why is mine going in the reverse?
You need to swap two of the output wires instead.
I just bought a control board from china for my ABB ACS550 DRIVE 55 kw~ The local ABB technician called it as 55kw but in china it is 45 kw~ So i actually purchased a wrong control board 55kw for 45 kw (as in china) for my drive~ But the seller told me that i can actually change the default data using the display panel from 55kw to 45 kw~ so does anyone know how to change the data base?
The parameter for selecting power rating can be accessed with the standard keypad, follow this sequence to access hidden parameters; enter parameter list and access hidden parameter group 105 by pressing Select button and simultaneously pressing both up and down arrow keys and the left function key for 4 seconds. The display should flash once, press the exit button and find group 105 and parameter 10509. Use the up/down arrow keys to select the correct drive power rating then press save. Cycle power and access parameter 3304 to verify correct power rating has been accepted by the drive. Good luck.
Note: you need to backup current configuration to keypad before accessing hidden parameters otherwise you will have to start over with any previously adjusted parameters. Also to save hidden parameters access parameter 10502 and enter a 1. Then cycle power to put drive back to normal parameter access, ok?
