We already know this, whether Xehanort is the MoM or not. He literally killed off his own adopted children so this crap could happen. The real question is *why*
Well the Master of Masters is behind everything one way or the other since his actions caused the Keyblade War which in turn caused everything else in the series to happen. The only questions left to answer are was it intentional or not and if it was intentional, then what were his motives and reasons for doing so and what was his end goal for doing it.

Perhaps the change to yellow isn't a sign that Xehanort became possessed by someone and simply a show of his fall to the darkness, akin to a Sith in Star Wars gaining the yellow and red eyes to show there fall to the darkside. Eventually Xehanort simply embraced the darkness too much and his eyes became like those of the heartless, yellow, showing to those who would be aware of that fall. And sense no other person thus far has delved as far as he has, its why only he and those of his vessels have those eyes.
Wouldn't Eraqus have caught on if that was the case? I mean he's a bit thick-headed but considering how anti-darkness he is you'd think he'd be suspicious if his friend suddenly gained Heartless-eyes.
@@LtBasil If Xehanort's eyes were already yellow when he arrived, indicating perhaps his corruption came fairly early, then he wouldn't have reason to suspect, really. Though yeah, this is all under the assumption his eyes changed and this isn't just mood lighting for the trailer.

I mean I guess they could give Namine a Keyblade but I feel like it'd detract from her character, part of her thing is that she works in the background rather than the front lines and I wouldn't be happy if they changed that.
Repliku vs. Marluxia would make more sense (assuming, of course, that the Repliku we saw in the trailer was actually Repliku and not just an illusion).
True, but Namine could inherit a Keyblade too. If Kairi can, So can Namine. How does Roxas use a Keyblade? Because he’s sora’s nobody, who has a Keyblade.
Oh and for Riku Replica, I think it’s more likely that he’ll fight against Vexen or Larxene. More likely Larxene considering she beat his ass in CoM.

I said this all before back during the discussion regarding the Young Xehanort boss fight in Dream Drop Distance: Luxu or the Master of Masters is the real villain and he’s been possessing however inherits the No Name Keyblade.
I doubt that’ll be the case. I think it’ll be like The MoM used Xehanort to help bring himself to the future. He just took advantage of Xehanort, while not necessarily controlling him. *cough cough Luxu cough cough.* Xehanort’s methods are his own methods.
Could the power of darkness that creates these possessions be inside the box?

What I mean is, Xehanort could have had silver eyes originally but after being introduced to the darkness via the whole headache of 3D or a different spark of Darkness they changed color. It being shown in the trailer could just mean, hey, this character wasn't born Dark, he is the sum of his choices like anyone else.
And you know, drive the fans up the wall.
If Xehanort was possessed by some entity, my guess is that its the entity dubbed "The Darkness" as first seen in KH Chi when Maleficent went back in time and got trapped in a data world by The Darkness

I would personally say if he was possessed. Which I thought about this after seeing Everglow's Timeline series, that it may be Luxu or the Master of Masters in possession of Xehanort. One line in particular is in BBS when Xehanort says "I swore I would survive... and be there to see what awaited beyond the Keyblade War!" Which is something the Master of Masters has proclaimed. Also the MoM passed on the keyblade to Luxu which then goes on to Xehanort. Which Xehanort uses that keyblade to possess or give his heart to others. So it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that Xehanort is the sole possession of either Luxu, the Master of Masters...maybe even both if the hearts keep getting passed down.
Same on this. However, I believe it’s a little more complicated. I believe Luxu will possess Ephemer. And Luxuphemer will eventually find himself on the Destiny Islands; growing up into the man we all know and love: Xehanort.
I believe this, his heart which was probably in that box got placed into Xehanort as the candidate like how Luxu was MoMs candidate for the special task. Hes holding the heart only not being possessed by MoMs actions i believe. Cuz it's the vessels job to make sure MoM sees the ending of the war. That or that line is just cuz Xehanort wants to be sure even though hes old and the war recreation is taking longer then expected cuz Vens failure, he wants to be around when it happens so he made the vessels, his organization.
Another possibility is that when Xehanort received No Name, he swore that he’d survive to record history for Luxu/MoM; the history in this post-war era. In any case, i do agree that what he said has some bigger meaning than what it originally seemed to be

I REALLY don't want Master of Masters (MoM) to be the "real puppetmaster". It's going to ruin Xehanort. It would be a similar thing to how Madara Uchiha was made into a chump and Kaguya was the real villain all along. Yes, we've known about MoM for a while now, but it's a really bad plot twist. I hope Nomura does the ending justice.

I doubt it that’ll be the case. It’ll likely be something along the lines of the MoM using Xehanort for his own methods; while not necessarily controlling him. Xehanort’s methods are his own methods. The MoM just took advantage of him, while not interfering with his plans.

A way they "could" use the possibility of the influence is not to have it so much as control, but planting the seeds of darkness enticement into Xehanort. Not so much as dictating his every move, but slowly getting him to seek out the X-blade. In doing so the main villain could use the conflict to have the X-blade made, Kingdom hearts summoned and set everything up to what this villain wishes.
The issue however, is we don't know what the villain would be after if this is a possession by darkness (Luxu or whomever) nor do we know what would happen if Kingdom Hearts is truly summoned or the X-blade is made. All in all, we know too little of "what comes after [X]" to make a fair guess of how [Chi] and [Union Cross] could potentially come into this story for one big shoot off to the next saga.
Or, if anyone who bleaches hair or does spray tans or whatever knows, purple undertones cancel out yellowing.
If you want white hair, bleaching it will typically yellow it, but using purple toner will balance the opposing color to white.
So I think it's a lighting trick that is symbolic of Xehanort's entire plan: balance. The purple star whitened the yellow of his eyes to make his "vision" balanced.
The purple star could represent his connection to The Realm of Darkness and the heartless.
assuming his true eye color was never yellow, since the heartless predominant colors are black, red and purple in which most of them share yellow eyes.
Then it means that Aqua's case could be very different, perhaps yellow eyes could represent one's connection to the Darkness, like the darkside of the force.
OR it could be the lighting from the presentation.
I think his eyes are actually yellow, and they used the purple for effect of the possible visions that are being shown. No way would everyone who has been Norted end up having yellow eyes if Old Man Xehanort’s eyes aren’t yellow. I personally think it’s just an effect.
What if Xehanort was turned Evil by Luxu? What if Xehanort was a pawn in the MoM plan and MoM/Luxu/Xehanort’s Keyblade is the thing that makes people have the desire for Kingdom Hearts. The MoM created this Keyblade so he could succeed? BOOM. Luxu has most likely been dead for years. This is all part of the MoM plan, he used his Keyblade to seduce Luxu, and Luxu used that Keyblade to seduce Xehanort. Likely part of the MoM plan was for Luxu to hide the box and send Xehanort to get it. This could also explain why Eraqus has such a hatred for darkness, maybe something Luxu tried to do failed and changed his mind.
Hmk if you slow down the video when young xehanort looks at the star, it looks like a heart floating away and when it gets to the part where you see the light in his eyes it looks like the moment you deafeat a heartless and the heart is release leaving particles of light.

I personally don't think he is possessed per say, I've always believed that he was a normal kid and just go to close and relied on the darkness and it corrupted him and changed his eye colour as well. It's my theory for why Aqua's eyes are also yellow I think because she spent so much time in the realm of darkness it's been corrupting her as well I don't think she is "Norted". But that's just a theory... a GAME THEORY XD had too sorry.

Now, towards the eye color theory it is possible that it was a lighting issue or used for dramatic effect. It’s also possible that his eye color changed when he began using the power of darkness.

He isn't controlled by anyone, Xehanort is the living reincarnation of "The Master Of Masters". Hence his obsession to opening Kingdom Hearts. If you watched the 2.8 Film. It just so happened the Savior/Messiah the Fates believed in, ended up becoming a Warrior of Darkness in the next world when he vanished.

All (or at least most) of the good boys and girls have blue eyes, all the bad guys have amber eyes, I think at this point it's just showing that Xehanort doesnt have a reason to lean one way or the other, he's essentially neutral so grey and the purple light reflected in his eyes is the beginning of him being enthralled by darkness. I think this was thought of later so you can ignore the previous scenes we've seen of him on the islands with amber eyes, maybe going way back he even had pure blue eyes to begin with just like sora, the brightest lights cast the darkest shadows right?
My theory regarding Xehanort’s eyes is that Xehanort has actually been possessing vessels for a multitude of years. You know when he possessed Terra and Riku? What if they weren’t the ONLY vessels Xehanort possesed? Xehanort even said in one of his reports that “Possessing vessels can allow someone to remain in the world of the living forever.” What if this has been going on for hundreds, if not THOUSANDS of years??? This process likely changed his original eyes to purple, and then yellow somewhere down the line, probably because he did it so many times. But here begs the next question, who is the original Xehanort? If I had to guess, it is most certainly someone from the Xchi era of the games. Here’s a few possibilities:

Brain
Foreteller Gula

Ephemer is the most likely if you ask me.
However, who is the individual that possessed Ephemer???? I think it could be only 1 person: Luxu. Luxu was tasked by the MoM to train apprentices and pass down his Keyblade. But what if he didn’t do that? Instead, he trained worthy apprentices to their full potential. Then, he would trick them into falling into the darkness. And once they became full dark, he posssed them; just like he did with Terra. I believe Ephemer was the first person to receive this fate.
This means Luxu is actually the original Xehanort. No, he IS xehanort.

My theory is Luxu trained a worthy apprentice and then body hopped into that apprentice. He has been doing so since the Age of Fairy Tales one apprentice after another. Since Back Cover this has been my theory. Master Xehanort's line at the end of Birth by Sleep, "I swore I would live on to see what lay beyond the Keyblade War," supports it.

It's just not that complicated to understand. The yellow eyes and the pointed ears is a feature from his use and channel the darkness inside his heart. His body will change influenced by the darkness. He's so strong so his self wasn't destroyed but like the Sith Lords in Star Wars, the use of that power, change the person. Xehanort's true eyes were probably blue or grey but when he opened his heart to the darkness, he changed forever and so the people who has his heart inside it.

It could be Kingdom Hearts itself, or at least the moon version. That's what has been driving him this whole time, so it makes sense that he would be fixated on it before actually putting the chess game into motion.

I wouldn’t want Xehanort to be Norted as well as that’s what makes Xehanort his own character. He definitely accumulated darkness over the course of the years. Perhaps he wanted power, and akin to Star Wars, wanting more power leads to darkness. Over the course of the years, he’s probably gotten more darkness or has tricked more people that had darkness like Terra.

I do remember reading something awhile back that KH3 was supposed to be the end of the Xehanort saga and that the story would continue.
So here's a little physics lesson... Eyes and everything else only have color when some light bounces off of them and other wavelengths become absorbed. Xehanort is in a dark room at night staring at a purple star. Purple is a close color to violet and ultraviolet so it's likely that reds and yellows to make orange are not present. I don't think this was an error and makes sense to me.
I think that with Aqua, we've seen quite clearly that those "possesed" by Darkness tend to have yellow/amber eyes(probably just depends on how much Darkness you've been exposed to). From my understanding, what we've seen in this opening trailer is Young Xehanort from the first timeline, where he took the path of the Keyblade wielder without the assistance of Ansem SoD. He had to become old and take over Terra's heart and body to become Terranort. We know that Ansem SoD is actually Terranort's/Xehanort's Heartless. With the appearance of Mysterious Figure in BBS, that'd create a rather complex parallel timeline.
Even it if turns out that Xehanort was just possessed it doesn't change who that character has been until now. It would just mean that the villain has a different name or the body had a different name. It would still be the the same villain that has done all the same things. Character unchanged really. I still wonder all the time why Old (master) Xehanort is the one in charge and not Terranort. Terranort is the most recent Xehanort before splitting into a heartless and nobody. Bugs the crap out of me that the old body he went through much effort to ditch is still the main one...
I don't think the change in eye color has anything to do with possession. I think golden yellow eyes represent darkness in it's purest form like how the heartless have yellow eyes. But Xehanort had them for a long time even before the chess game. But I believe they simply are showing through symbolism how a pure heart can be drawn to darkness since silver is considered the opposite of gold. Past openings used a lot of symbolism as well and timelines weren't so clear cut. I think the silver represents the good in him, and when he looks to the dark star he is looking towards it with optimism. Much like how Riku wasn't aware of the consequences of opening the door of his world to darkness, Young Xehanort while he had some idea of what would happen, was still pure in some sense and simply wanted to expand his horizons and learn more. The worst of acts often start with good intentions after all.
my theory is that the yellow eyes are associated with luxu, that YX willingly chose to side with luxu who has taken the body of many previous masters, and the silver eyes are what he looked like before he became a vessel. this is why xehanort is so curious since MoM told him so many years ago "you'll see" and why MX said "i swore i would survive" in bbs.
Couldn’t it just be that the yellow just means your taken completely by the darkness...so yes his eyes are grey but they turn yellow after he becomes enticed by the darkness or in this case, the “dark star”
Not u lean he was taken over completely before he ever left the islands. DDD shows us he already had yellow eyes by the time he met is future Heartless, which was before he had a keyblade.
In cinematics, it's never a mistake, special lighting effects are planned very well and what art direction you see, there is more than meets the eye an done with a purpose.
I think it is simple - yellow opposes purple in the color wheel. That purple light might have neutered the yellowness of Xehanort's eyes, causing them to appear grey. Probably how the render calculated the colors.
I have an idea. I don't think that Xehanort is being controlled by any other person, he is Xehanort, just Xehanort. However, I DO feel like the scene we see in this cutscene is something that doesn't happen in the game but is, in fact, a way of telling us that Xehanort wasn't always like this. So...
What I mean by that is... What if yellow eyes don't mean Xehanort but they are a sign of one being heavily influenced by darkness? Heartless also have yellow eyes and they are literally made out of darkness. Xehanort wasn't norted by anyone, but he WAS influenced.
Remember that Nomura stated that he identifies with Xehanort way more than Sora. What does that mean from the perspective of a writer? It means, "I've fleshed this OC out more than I have the main character and I like how he has developed." I feel like we're going to learn a lot about Xehanort in this game that Nomura has kept hidden away in notebooks and concept sketches and that we may actually learn what he was like before he wanted to destroy everything.
Just a thought, though!
I personally saw it as Xehanort’s original eye color is blue or silver, and once he gave himself up to the Darkness it turned to the iconic gold/amber color. Similar to the Heartless always having yellow eyes.
Xehanort chould have had silver eyes before he became enamored by the darkness its entirely possible that his eyes of yellow golden color embody enormous amounts of darkness. That aside his eyes are still golden around the outer ring of his eyes. Also being that as it may they might have switched to a clear color vs the yellow to do as you said HMK they might have done it to show the dark star in his eyes clearly.
This is the end of the Xehanort Saga, maybe the silver eyes will point to the villain of the next saga, it would make sense if the next villain has ties to Xehanort. Perhaps the purple star is the darkness or power of someone else, another dark wielder who was trapped or fighting at the time. It almost seems like when riku and sora opened their hearts to Ventus and Vanitas as children. What if the next villain did something similar with Xehanort, and truly finally defeating Xehanort will reawaken whoever it was he took into his heart. Giving us the villain of the next saga, giving them a solid tie to the universe, and it could explain not only how Xehanort learned so much about the darkness and how to wield it. Most importantly it could explain how Xehanort came to posses the dark keyblade No Name. Who we know belonged to the master of masters and his heir Luxu. As we seen in Dream Drop Distance Young Xehanort doesn't use No Name. Meaning he had a different keyblade, and must have acquired No Name at a later date. What if in this moment Xehanort let in the heart of Luxu or even the Master of Masters himself giving him the ability to wield No Name along with his obsession with the darkness. Keep in mind we've never seen either of the two keyblade wielder's faces as they wear organization xiii coats with the hood up. It could be hiding the fact that they have silverish gray eyes, and Xehanort's eyes being silverish gray in that scene is showing him opening his heart to either luxu, The Master of Masters, or someone else who could wield No Name. Thats just a guess though; any thoughts?
I'm surprised the fact that Xeahnort minus the X is an anagram for "Another" and Another is a secret password he uses wasn't brought up in this video.
One thing I think is really interesting is what Xehanort says before possessing Terra: "I swore I would survive...and be there to see what happened beyond the Keyblade War!"
Honestly, this totally sounds like Luxu's task given by the master to me. I'm not sure exactly what this means, but maybe Luxu is either possessing or influencing all his apprentices with his will
people connected to the light have blue eyes, people connected to darkness have yellow Eyes...
Now one of the things I see when I think about Xehanort is that "His Beast representation" (Like the animals from the Foretellers) is that of a Dragon like Bahamut.
Now, Dragon is technically another representation of Anger (Ira, which can be also represented by a horse).
So I think the puppet master may be Ira.
That scene where Xehanort has yellow eyes on Destiny Islands doesn't necessarily have to be before Land of Departure, it can be after. If he were to get kicked out from Land of Departure after using the darkness (or just leaving), it wouldn't be a stretch for him to have visited his home one last time to reaffirm his resolve to explore new worlds. The clothing would also make sense, since his clothes in the Destiny Islands cutscene look more like his older self's get up. Black pants, white top + coat/vest. When Xehanort's heart took over Terra's body their darknesses merged and his eyes went from gold to amber(Kinda like gold with red added.) signifying a stronger more pure darkness.

The yellow gold eyes don't represent Xehanort. They represent the Tremendous darkness in his heart.

If that was his original eye color, I would think that it wasn't something possessing him, but him genuinely showing an interest towards the darkness and later having his iconic amber eyes. That's just what I think lol
maybe it's the real young Xehanort, before he had purple eyes but after this meteorite, he discover the darkness and he changed, and his eyes turned to yellow and a lot of other things in this passage can be a flashback of the past when he turned into darkness (sorry for my bad english, i'm french)

Ive suspected that xehanort hasnt been pulling the strings for a long time. For a long time i thought it may have been braig but im thinking something like luxu or something might be more probable
I knew it! I was guessing this but I kept doubting it, but the Master of Masters might be behind all this. Think about. He wanted to know what happens. He wanted to see everything in the future and he wrote it all down. It just seems so fitting for Xehanort to be possessed because of how he looks at the keyblade in the earlier trailer with the chess scene. It's after he is possessed by the Master of Masters and he's going to get his keyblade back.

If Xeanort agreed with and supported the ideals of this other person, and willingly became a vessel. Because while he wouldn't be the one who actually did any of this stuff, he allowed it all to happen by offering himself as a vessel. What do you think?
HMK, remember that Ben Diskin said that there IS a difference between chessboard Xehanort and DDD's Young Xehanort. DDD's island Xehanort has the natural young Xehanort voice, while this one is a younger version. We've seen Xehanort return to Destiny Islands multiple times in the past. Is it not possible that the scene in DDD you refer to is AFTER he's become a Keyblade master and has set his "eyes" on searching the mysteries of the Keyblade War as a Dark Seeker? Also, in the 2015 trailer, Young Xehanort's left eye is fully Amber, but you can tell if you look that his right eye seems to only be slightly amber, as though it's creeping into him. I really do think he himself is possessed by something.
What if the Master of Masters is trying to prevent something he saw in the future? Seeing how he's been mischievous and comedic-like with the foretellers ( _including Luxu, who he knows will soon take on a student that becomes darkness incarnate_ ) yet so serious with Ava's role as overseer of the dandelions?
One thing is telling me he is the mastermind, and the other half is saying he put his heart in a box for the 7 lights to find, and his eye on a keyblade to keep seeing how this plays out.
What would be hype af is if his heart _WAS_ in the box, and if it's opened in the Keyblade Graveyard it goes into Lingering Will

Xehanort and sora look eerily similar in this trailer. Look at there out fits, look at the close up of the eyes, look at xehanorts profile and how his hair is shorter than usual. Xehanorts outfit right there is literally soras outfit minus the sleeves and plaid detail. Kinda like how Roxas and Venus have similar outfits.

Ansem the wise had yellow eyes, plus when terra would use the darkness even his eyes would turn yellow. The eye colour is more likely a sign that you are using the darkness in your heart.
I think the yellow eyes is just a trait of darkness. I even think it states somewhere that xehanort got his yellow eyes by travelling through darkness without armour but I could be wrong. Also the fact that all heartless have yellow eyes too kinda makes it clear that it’s just a trait of darkness and not necessarily xehanort
First off Nomura said this game would end the Xehanort Saga of Kingdom Hearts. The idea that Xehanort himself was possessed also could be fascinating if done right, but it is most likely an unfinished scene. Also is it me or does the purple silhouette in the reflection of his eyes look like the map icon for Destiny Islands?

What if that purple light is the new etches on his heart every time his future self disappears and starts again from the past. The reason I see is because as he is playing the chess game young xehanort is "seeing" sora and the other heroes and changing their fates

I don't know if you would agree with my opinion but this is what I believe for Xehanort's eyes. I believe the reason why his eyes are like a silver grayish color is because this is Xehanort is actually a person that's a fledgling rookie keyblade wielder who is battling between light and darkness within his own heart but slowly over the years as he started to learn more and more about the darkness his eyes started to slowly change to that of the yellow gold color that we know today.
This is just my opinion but I could be wrong but I say that that's probably what happened to him
I feel like Xehanorts eyes may have changed from amber to silver to show his heart truly subsided into darkness. Meaning amber is the eye color to represent him while silver shows the darkness truly taking over his heart and him becoming a husk.

I feel like it’s more in line with his fall into darkness throughout his life. It’s a reminder that everyone is innocent at some point, and that our choices condemn or uplift us.

I think that may be his true eye color but when you accept darkness into you fully and become consumed by it your eyes turn yellow. The opening/preview of the birth by sleep opening showed terra getting yellow eyes JUST before he got "norted".

I think his normal eye color was always Silver, but as he became more in tune with Darkness and delved deeper and deeper into it his eyes turned Yellow like a Heartless’. I don’t think Xehanort is possessed by anyone else, it’s just corruption.
Master of Masters possesses people through the No Name keyblade, and being “Norted” is just being possessed by the Master of Masters. Because the Master of Masters wanted the first keyblade war and wanted to see what lies beyond it, so he orchestrated all of the events of X, SO passing down the No Name keyblade allows him to possess the wielder, so once he possessed Xehanort, Xehanort turned to the darkness and the keyblade war, and the Master of Masters wants to orchestrate another Keyblade War, possibly

That really did open up some new ground on Xehanorts character.. I was thinking maybe the Master of Master become an everlasting essence of darkness and was able to possess Xehanort, but only passed on a small piece of his will. Kinda like how how Sora,Ventus,and Roxas are sharing hearts. I do feel you on that taking away from his character definitely, but I'm curious to if he norted himself 😂😂
I've my own theory. Young Xehanort wielded a keyblade in Dream Drop Distance, even though he shouldn't be able to yet. His eyes glowed before summoning it. What if Xehanort's Heartless put a part of his heart in his younger self at the islands, and the yellow eyes represent having two of the same heart, or at least fractions there of, from different points in time?
What if your eye color gets tainted when you meet another version of yourself? In DDD, when YX is talking to Sora on Destiny Islands, the illusion YX and Ansem are facing away from view, so we don't actually see his eyes as he meets himself...
My theory is that he is tapping into the eye that sees into the future that's on the keyblade on the wall that can see the chess board and because he knows the future he knows what moves to play. It would make him the master of masters as well.
I think the eye color changes once taken by the darkness. Like I don't think aqua is a nort, just another person taken by darkness.
I’m a little confused as HMK said in this video that the chess scene between young Xehanort and Eraqus takes place after the scene where young Xehanort says “this world is just too small” but I thought that the chess scene took place before that as he sounds younger in that scene as his voice has a higher pitch then we have heard before and Ben Diskin even said in the X-keeper stream he showed up in (at around 3:13:40) that young Xehanort was younger in that scene and that they had him pitch his voice higher when voicing it for that reason. So which scene comes first the chess scene or the “this world is just too small” scene? I don’t get how the chess scene could take place after.
