Glad you are redoing the older videos. I was watching a few and main thing I noticed was no breakdowns of the ships

I like the mess halls for larger ships with more crew members; it gives them a second place (assuming you also have a living quarters hab) to relax, have a snack or drink, play a game or whatever. From personal experience, when spending a lot of time with more than two other people it helps to have space to split up into smaller groups for conversation, recreation etc.
Mess halls also add passenger space which helps if you run into stranded workers or colonists requesting evac to another planet/station (which happens surprisingly often in my game) or pick up a passenger transport mission from a mission board.

Another great review. The break down and rebuild really gets the grey matter working on what you can do with these vessels.

Thanks for these vids. Always enjoy and gives me ideas for my own ship builds / remodels.

I generally hijack a ship, register it and build my own around the core.
I do aim for a clean symmetrical look, usually laying out the basics and fill in spaces and creating symmetry with misc Habs. Generally avoiding pure decorative modules.
As for weapons, I find particle beams to the max and turrets for the rest. I just get too wrapped up in piloting to deal with fine targeting and using extra mouse clicks. I'll usually pick up 4 beams on 1, beans on 2 as backup while 1 recharges., and turrets/nothing on 3.
I am really enjoying the guides.
Maybe you could do some on the faction ships. I do wish I could create a fleet. 10 ships just isn't alot to work with.

Thank you for the review and breakdown. Nice enough looking ship. As always, I like the role-playing habs where appropriate. One thing that I have noticed for myself is that I am starting to prefer more compact designs.
For example, I recently swapped out of a Crossbow variant (originally either CF or Spacer) into a Ghost IV. I tossed in that 40 power Class C reactor, glitched the fuel and grav drive into the reactor, changed out the engines for the 3015's, swapped in that 1600 shield, and loaded up on class C particle cannon, a particle turret, and a couple of slim missile pods. I also swapped the Control hab for an all in one, as my character is purely solo.
The end result is much easier to navigate and has plenty of both defenses and offensive capability. Plus, the Ghost has always screamed Star Wars bounty hunter ship to me. :)

All in all, not a bad ship. I see what Bethesda did: by having one stack of Companionway pieces with dead-end branches off it it they force a central path through the ship to avoid the maze effect. If you do the main quest though, the moment you and Walter leave after your discussion with Slayton I'd rush a ship technician or kiosk there on Neon and get the SAL 6830 engines. Just swap out those weapons for some with 3 power drain so you can get enough to fill all 8 crew stations.

It’s such a pity that they give us so many ship options but dont let us truly fly them anywhere . So most of the time it’s either fast jumping to locations or long loading animations where the ship flys itself into orbit and lands itself . Leaving a few minutes flying in orbit or in some repetitive dogfights

Adding a battle station would be pointless - you already have 8 crew stations (4 from the cockpit, 4 from the control station). Instead, I'd replace the 2x3 mess hall with an infirmary, captain's quarters and an all-in one; alternatively an infirmary, a 2x2 living quarters and switch the 2x1 living quarters to a captain's quarters.
If you did go for the battle stations, I'd replace the control station with captain's quarters but swap positions with the armoury.

I like the rail guns on faster ships, but it can get kinda hairy if your engine gets hit and that's your main for hull damage. I always feel better to have back up missiles as a third with that type of offense.

Stupid question: what exactly decides when you get which version/tier? You level? Or is stuff like certain skills unlocked also needed?
Because for B and C ships you need higher levels of the Ship skills to even fly them AFAIK.
This ship looks quite nice, nothing spectacular but a nicely smooth pancake-y appearance.
Of course it needs the usualy re-touching, the Bethesda made ships usually are not the yellow from the egg.

It's primarily your level. It goes off of the level requirements of the best modules, which is usually the reactor. So by level 60, you should only see max tier ships, but sometimes lower tiers still appear

@@CrimsonFlyboy I get why they do it this way from a game mechanic standpoint, but from an in-universe perspective it makes little sense.
Going by the skills would make more sense, like how you need a driver´s license to drive cars of certain types, a regular license doen´t ket you drive trucks or tanks ect.
