This ship very much reminds me of the P-38 Lightning fighter plane from WWII. Twin booms with the engines on the outer 2, central cockpit pod with the weapons and radio equipment. They had exceptionally good range for the time and were the only fighter capable of accompanying some bombing missions in the Pacfic as escorts against enemy fighters going after the long range bombers.
Forgot to mention, the P-38 was EXCEPTIONALLY good at long range photo reconnaissance because it was a very stable air platform. Very agile and easy to fly. The photo recon planes had all their guns ripped out for extra cameras and fuel tanks.
I really like the look of this Galileo ship, and never thought about getting it until now. So umm thanks! :) Now I have one and I changed some things, but for the most part it still looks the practically the same as default. It’s a cool little ship that’s just slightly on the bigger size. So it’s either a little big ship or a big little ship.
Thank you for the review and breakdown. Overall, I like the Galileo/Hymn, with the exception of that jutting braking thruster. In an odd move from someone who professes not to like Taiyo, I would slot in a Taiyo sensor pod thing instead, to really lean into the science/exploration aspect. Stylistically, those huge tanks pretty much define this ship. Removing them changes the vibe. That's not to say that you should leave them, but those two huge tanks really make it look like a deep space exploration vessel. I could think of a couple of upgrade paths for this one, but the simplest would be to change the Engineering Bay to an All-in-One and the Living Quarters to a Workshop. That fits the "self-sufficient, long-range exploration" theme perfectly.
Actually, the maximum crew you can get at A-class (assuming 3 sets of four 3-power weapons and four 3-power engines) is eight: 1 for the reactor, 1 for the 4 engines (or two engines plus the shield) and 6 from the weapons. B -class takes you up to max 9 crew (2 from the reactor) and C-class to 10 (3 from the reactor). Theoretically, you could get higher using 2-power weapons and engines, but you'd be capped out lower than that by the Leadership perk. Reactor: 1-3 crew capacity depending on class Engines - 0.25 crew capacity each Shield and weapons - 0.5 crew capacity each.
The max you'd need is 9 regardless: 8 from your Ship Command skill and Sarah's Leadership makes her a free 9th crew member. The Valkyrie Cockpit and a Control Stations hab gives 8 Stations to work with. IIRC the game rounds up so you need 7.5 capacity total to utilize those 8 stations. Having 6 Vanguard Obliterators helps fill those numbers, since that gives 3 capacity on its own. It's also one reason to shy away from 4 power drain weapons. That being said, if you have a spot for just one weapon the 4 power Eradicator PB turret puts up nice damage.
I actually kinda like it… I think I would have added the crossways from the center out to the wings, right behind where the big tanks where. That would allow a 2x1 hab on each wing. Obviously changing the hand and ditching the 1x1 like you did. I love that landing bay but I’d probably change to a front because I hate that nose the have on there
😊 maybe if you can merge the two fuel tanks together then you can put the two bracers like you have it on the winglets and then you would just take the fuel tank and mount it somewhere that looks pretty cool cuz it's used should still have 11 fuel I mean I don't like all merging techniques but in this case it would work I think

And 4:30am replies are not my friend. Grammar and spelling was atrocious 🤦🏻♂️
A very nice remake, quite the hunter killer
Connor reminds me of a space version of the seeduck from tailspin
I'm guessing you didn't mean to put Connor at the start. I was so confused who Connor was until I googled that plane
Love the design of this ship, but if I bought it where could I increase the cargo capacity for up to maybe 2000 cargo?
You can indeed. That's the best thing about the ship builder. You can add and take off what ever you like
Could you use the emerging technique with weapons can you show us that sometime possibly please and thank you if it is possible
You can use the merge technique. I've done two videos on my channel showing the two main methods if you'd like to check them out
