I find it highly ironic that Taiyo is supposed to be a luxury shipbuilder, but their hab interiors are exactly identical to HopeTech's, aside from lighting... About the best thing that can be said for the Taiyo 2x2 All In One is that with the ability to decorate your ship's interior after the May update, it should be super easy to customize the Taiyo 2x2 if you don't feel like just going for a completely empty hab. Also, I can confirm that end or side passages DO delete the Nova Galactic corner bathrooms: For the longest time, I was convinced that none of the Nova Galactic berthing or living quarters habs even HAD bahtrooms due to connecting most of my habs in a linear manner, which nukes said bathrooms.

And once again Nova has the best and most welcoming interior design. I like the layout and amenities of the Taiyo hab... but it needs less cargo laying around and more entertainment.
The point of the A vs B in the Taiyo models is that the A series has no side connects. So you can force front to back separation with Taiyo mods. Stroud has a 1x1 with no front or back doors so you can force side to side connections with that.
One detail I noticed is, I think Taiyo is probably meant as luxury not in the sense that it has luxury accommodations, so much as it looks like it's supposed to be the "supercar" of space (as opposed to the yacht of space). Generally-speaking, the lighting and coloration of Taiyo and Deimos mostly seem to line up great (making them good for mixing), with the exception of I think the 3x3 cargo hold, which in general seems darker lit. Admittedly I probably wouldn't have noticed this if said cargo hold wasn't basically my ships entrance from the ground.
It seems the Living Quarters are more like Living Rooms and less like Bedrooms, all of them barely have any Beds but the All-in-One Berths always have at least one or two Beds
I swear I heard a character in-game say "day-mose". I'll certainly check out their own shipyard and listen next time. Although, there are also a couple of in-game variations of Ryujin's pronunciation, too, so it's possible not everyone in the game knows exact pronunciation. Much like oddly named companies in real life--I remember Hyundai did an entire Superbowl commercial one year on its pronunciation: "It's Hyundai, like Sunday." However, the guys in the Deimos shipyard probably know how to say their own company name.
I'm figuring it comes down to the same thing we're all sharing, in that we all have different dialects (just like the voice actors in the game). We hear things a little different, we speak things a little different. It's just like the Po-TAY-toe vs Po-TAH-toe argument.
Great job once again friend! And congrats on the new subscribers, I remember subscribing to you just a few days ago when you were below 1k haha. Keep it up! Greetings from the Netherlands
Are you also going to do the 3x1 engineering habs? I hope that bgs eventually makes the type of hab effect the stats of our ships, ex: cargo adds cargo, engineering performance and so on. Along with allowing us to choose between the habs we currently have or empty ones that we can fully design the inside of from scratch but both current or empty can be designed and decorated like homes and outposts. Also the time stamps on the bar is working for me on both mobile and my Xbox.
I will defend your point that Taiyo top/mid/bottom all are the same. However All in One A/B do have slight variations. A has a clean brand new vibe, where B feels more... lived in. Overall I'm enjoying your tours, and appreciate you for taking the time to do them.
Hopefully there will be a way in the future to "preview" your build before finalizing it. That'll help us all choose which Habs we like best and see the configuration before spending Credits on it.
I'm fine with no bed btw, because I add it with all in one 4beds next to living quarters. So this is basically just a living room for crews to mingle (and mess hall in the back as cafeteria)
In the Nova 2x2 Living, your entry point nukes a full weight bench that is quite nice. If you fly around with a ship for a mission, save and fully quit the game. Then reload and it often triggers the game to truly decorate. You know it’s been triggered when the Taiyo Captains quarters gets plushies added to the bed. Would be cool if you made a “best of” and showed before and after full decoration mode triggers.
I did my best to allow each Hab to snap naturally, but sometimes I had no choice and moved it so I could close out of the builder without errors. Good to know there was a wight bench there.
Deimos and Stroud have beds, they are just folded up in the room to the left of the dining table. Two blocks with a handle to pull out, and those are the beds.
I Honestly really don't like how Taiyo is just HopeTech but light. NPCs and Ads always say that Taiyo has style and looks amazing, but their habs are way too utilitarian and junky like HopeTech
@@delindsay The cockpits looks great, I wish the rest of their interiors were in that style. I also wish they had more than 1 cockpit. What I'm thinking is likely is Bethesda is gonna release a DLC with more ship parts, maybe new brands, akin to the Workshop DLCs of Fallout 4
@@MidanMagistrate I'm sure they will, and I'm positive their expecting Modders to do much of the heavy lifting (though, I don't love that concept, the game should've been more complete at launch).
@@delindsay Hey, credit where it's due, it's the most complete st launch Bethesda game we've had. If there's any bridge I want, it's a 2-Tall bridge with the window going on the front and underside, with the captains seat on a little walkway giving you a a great view. That'd be amazing.
"It's get stuffy with 4 people in there" My brother, on a US Navy ship that'd be a 6 man berth at least... and you'd hope it isn't right by the trash chute.
The pronunciation in game is actually completely varied depending on which NPC is speaking. Die-Mōs, Die-Moss, Day-Mōs, Day-Moss. It could be argued that it's a regional thing or whatever but as they're all on the same space station, I think more likely it's something in a lot of sci-fi and fantasy games or stories: they simply didn't have a pronunciation handbook for the VAs to all be consistent. Or it could be sort of a nod to Stargate SG-1, where they just dive head first into the joke of everyone pronouncing things completely different even in the same scene, with the Goa'uld (Go-ah-oold, Ghould) and Adria (Aid-ree-uh, Add-ree-uh) being the most notable cases. Pick whichever you like.
There's a third option to this pronunciation debate: DAY-mos. Personally I think that sounds best but even NPC's in the game pronounce it differently. Something that would be very helpful throughout these hab tours would be reminders about which direction that you're facing, front or rear. The interior layout doesn't ever flip or rotate so the only indicator of the orientation of the layout is whether we're looking towards the front or back of the ship. Helpful and informative content. Thank you!
LOL at the Deimos pronunciation intro. Looks like you're fighting the same fight at the Final Fantasy 7 guys that pronounced Mako as "may-ko" when the game says "mah-ko". LOL. I personally like the Deimos one because it has the two tiny rooms that wound up being perfect for entries from my landing bay and docking port.
It does feel on brand that HopeTech doesn't have a 2x2 living quarters. They are very utilitarian Space Trucker in design. So I can imagine them thinking a 2x1 living hab is enough, long haulers don't need the extra space that would be better served for cargo.
@delinsday Very much this... Stround-Ecklad is supposed to be luxury, but it really just is 'Deimos, but lighter colors' most of the time while Nova Galactic comes off as having better sleeping and relaxing spaces. And Taiyo's interiors just don't match their sleek exterior lines.
I just wish that they did like the Sims where I can just see down with the roof open so I can see what I'm going to lose when putting doors and hallways
Since you are doing this for educational purposes, you should run the command code or get a mod that removes building restrictions. Would make it easier for you!
Those living quarters with no beds are more like crew lounges, so maybe put one or two of the 2x1 habs with 4 bunks off of that. Sometimes I used a 2x1 living quarters next to a 2x1 crew quarters just because of that.
You see this is why I EXCLUSIVELY use the 2 story nova galactic cockpit you can if you place things correctly have ZERO ladders other than a docking and landing bay that's it though those aren't annoying if you have stairs and place them correctly.
Getting really stress with this 2x2 stuff now. I’m lvl 60, with max skills on starship design and piloting but STILL haven’t unlocked 2x2 Deimos living quarters under the HABS tab - or much else for that matter. Anyone know where I’m going wrong here / what I’m missing??
This is why I like the 3x2 (?) galley as it has all the goodies in one go. Then I attach the crew quarters on both sides so that one connects where the separated entertainment area is and the other where the galley's separated storage area is. I prefer Hopetech for the less 'white' environment as it gets WAY too bright for me. I just wish you could get all the parts you unlock everywhere. :/
You and me both. I think we should HAVE to "unlock" the items maybe by purchasing them once at their respective Staryards but from then on they should be available at our Outpost permanently.
1:06 you are correct, "dee-mos" is the closest to the original greek pronunciation of "δειμος" since "ει" is a long "ee" sound in greek. Closer than "day-mos" or "dai-mos" at least.
Can you make a video on how to force ladders and doorways cause as of now I have no clue and it seems very random where the game decides to put the ladders
I will be yes. Keep in mind though, there's only 1 proven sure fire way and that's to never have a Hab connected to another Hab (unless it's a 1x1 Companionway) or you're going linear like 2x1 behind 2x1 in a straight line. All other methods are a "good practice" type of way as there's still no guarantee it'll snap the way you want.
I'm now imagining a crew member getting up first thing, groggy from sleeping in those uncomfortable looking cots and spending the night in other peoples' snoring and farting, tripping over the table braces some idiot left bolted to the floor and taking a header down to ladderway.
Time stamps are a little off, you have Deimos ending at 4:49 when it really ends at 5:26. Rest are fine though. Nice video, your comparisons are quite nice with a good analysis of where to try and put things. Now we just need someone to give up control of where the doors go.
As far as I am aware, your new pronunciation of Daimos is the correct one. They are named after the Mars moon Daimos which comes I believe from latin and they do kind of… stretch it.
It's funny because someone pointed out that they are hearing DAY-Moss when they go to the Staryard and now I'm hearing DAY-Mose with one or 2 NPC's seeming to say DAY-Moss. I swore I heard them all saying DIE-Mose when I made the video but maybe I'm just crazy. Also, other NPC's throughout Starfield pronounce it various ways from DAY-Mose to DAY-Moss to DIE-Mose to DIE-Moss. Though, I did even state that DAY-Moss is likely the correct pronunciation it's still apparently a hot button in conversation hehe.
Deinmos living quarters: The weight lifting in the corner is blocking the galley, so instead of being able to have proper stove, sinks and water they put in that mini standalone oven and also no beds. So no thank you.
It’d probably make you go schizo but I’d be curious to see different “messed up” interiors, like if you want a science lab 2x1 and a Nova A.I.O A but don’t want two research stations so you purposely doorway it out
I did that with the 1st video in this series with Armories but I get your point. That could end up being it's own entire series, like how to optimize Habs through proper door placement or some such thing.
My problem with the berths and the living quarters is they're too multipurpose, I want my berths to have beds and my living quarters to have relaxing spaces and cooking facilities, I don't need 2 galleys because I have both berths and living quarters and I don't need berths that the 2 whole beds it has get wiped out if I put a door in the wrong spot. I love the ship builder and I love all the ships folk have shared, but I'd like a little more control over door and ladder placement and actual specialized habs. And if the Cpt. Quarters isn't adding passenger slots, stop having them sleep there dang it!
To clarify on smaller/early game ships I'm fine with mixing bunks with a galley, it is an all in one, but when you get to a larger ship with a mess hall or living quarters it'd be nice to have just a hab with only bunks instead of a mix, inverse on living quarters.
@@delindsay at least ive done when ever i have slept on one.. but you sleep well on anything if your tired enough x) Cant sleep on your belly though. Bit like sleeping in a hammock - a really tight hammock
I've done that before and it causes the video to drag out longer due to the distance between the Ship and the Tech but I can look around to see if there's a super close one, maybe Nova on Titan.
@@roamingcurious6730 I've got it turned down to 50%, so 30% works for you? I don't want to miss out on OTHER sounds that are important by turning it down further but the Ships' landing/taking off noise is one of the most annoying things about Starfield.
I wish Stroud-Eklund had at least gone all out with the luxury aspect like that casino space station. The captains cabin has a stretcher for a bed! 😂 It’s so terrible!
I really wish the larger habs actually gave you some benefit, instead of being extra weight just for RP/decoration. Cargo, stations, passenger slots, something
100% agree. They could take that to a whole other level too. For example, the Infirmary could boost how fast you and Crew members heal out of Combat while on board or close proximity to the Ship (the size of an Outpost perimeter). The Weapon & Spacesuit Workstations could allow your Crew to randomly upgrade their own gear (not like to Legendary but maybe add 1 thing). Having a Mess Hall, All-in-One or any other Hab with a Galley could double the food buff duration. You could go on and on.
It's very interesting on the Deimos pronunciation because if you Google it the American is pronounced "dee -mows" and the British is "day - mos" neither sound like how they pronounce it in the game TBH.
The Taiyo bottoms / tops would be cool if they didn't have entry points in the bottom / top. That way you could make sure you didn't have ladders in places you didn't want. Why does nova have most of the best habs designs
That was not me replying, stupid bots. Anyway, the Top/Mid/Bottom serve the purpose of exterior design and it could be interesting to have the Top/Bottom lose their snap points, would make for more challenging design choices.
It's dee-mos/day-mos in American/British pronunciation. However in Greek it's thee-mos 🤷♀️ that being said I'm American and I was taught the pronunciation of day-mos it's just like many other words and names that are pronounced differently around the world when they all mean the same thing.
Most Englush dictionaries and text to speech apps pronounce the word Dee-mos. But this is an English pronunciation rule. If you use German, whenever two vowels are sounded, generally the second vowel is more heavily pronounced. That is why the German word for no, "Nein" is pronounced as English speakers would pronounce the word "nine" with the "i" sound predominant. This would make Deimos pronounced Di-mos, with the i being used over the e. Language, go figure. It's a game...of course wars have been started over killing a pig so maybe it's important to some people.
Strangely enough, I remember from my (british) school days learning about the two moons of mars (Deimos and Phobos) and the naming comvention from greek mythology. It was always pronounced as Di-mos. That is of course quite a few years ago now..
Not to pile on but Deimos is a moon of Mars and has always been pronounced DEE-mows. Why Bethesda has them pronounce DIE-mows, I have no idea. Maybe the Dev team was unaware how it was pronounced. In game, I'm just gonna chalk it up to language creep over the years.
Hard to say, the point I made is that's how every NPC at the actual Staryard pronounces it which is why I say it that way. Even though I agree by it's spelling Die-mose is likely not correct.
@@Torguemada Also mispronunciations are rampant on social media. People just pronounce words how they think or want. Then other people who don't know think that's how it's said. I watched a TH-camr talking about the Nava-JOE tribe 🤣🤣🤣🤣
1:05 bruh there's only one npc I've heard say it like that and I feel like it's because of her accent. Listen closer I'm sure they pronounce it like daymos

i held my self back last time but i cant. They THICC boi they THICC.. thanks for the showcase sir. pretend i didnt.... just didnt go there, im silly. thanks again for helping me with my list of parts to use.
They aren't EXACTLY the same, a has the bathroom on the left and b on the right or something like that :) but yeah basically the same... Just if you're picky about where your doors go, which seems to be the whole reason for these videos, than it might matter to you.
It's apparent we're all hearing it a little different, and with each of our different locational backgrounds, we'd all pronounce it a little different.
So I like your comparison videos, but as a tip, I think you should talk more about the actual design and aesthetic differences of the various rooms you’re comparing, rather than 90% just going over what might be lost from using different entry points. It gets repetitive and, while potentially useful info, isn’t very interesting.

I will defend your point that Taiyo top/mid/bottom all are the same. However All in One A/B do have slight variations. A has a clean brand new vibe, where B feels more... lived in. Overall I'm enjoying your tours, and appreciate you for taking the time to do them.
Fair point and I'm glad you like the videos, hope they help.
I like the nova 2x2 living quarters with the 2x1 deimos all in one to give some extra beds (one was removed from a doorway)
If those are the beds, they're for kids because the width is quite short. Unless they pull out in a tri-fold manner length wise.
I Honestly really don't like how Taiyo is just HopeTech but light. NPCs and Ads always say that Taiyo has style and looks amazing, but their habs are way too utilitarian and junky like HopeTech
Seriously, their Sales Rep is so into it when you speak with her and it's just a copy of another Manufacturer.
@@MidanMagistrate I'd like to have a bridge like that too.
In nova yes you do loose the pool table if a door is there, leaves a big empty space too.
Good to know, thanks.
Nova 2x2 - large bulkhead door/large end window removes the pool table, small side door/side window does not remove the pool table...
And apparently a Crossway at the end of the Pool Table keeps in intact also. Thanks for your input.
"It's get stuffy with 4 people in there" My brother, on a US Navy ship that'd be a 6 man berth at least... and you'd hope it isn't right by the trash chute.
Well, I'm certain it would be a superior usage of space than these Habs.
Ah Stargate SG-1, probably my favorite series!
Thank you!
The compass shows that, it's why people didn't like when I turned off the HUD.
@@delindsay got it, I hadn’t put 2 and 2 together on that one yet, thanks!
It would take more work but you could test some of these theories about what gets deleted when adding connections
I caught Barret pumping iron just today. Pretty cool.
Oh that's cool, the closest I've seen is Omari doing pushups on the mat next to the weight bench.
I wish they had the taiyo one in the hope tech colours. It seems like an oversight.
I really wish Bethesda had taken the time to make all 5 Manufacturers different, instead of how there's really only 3 Interior flavors.
@@nekoali2 Reasonable thought process.
@@nekoali2 It's unfortunately the Devs didn't spend the time/money to have al 5 Manus unique.
I just wish that they did like the Sims where I can just see down with the roof open so I can see what I'm going to lose when putting doors and hallways
That would be cool.
This a great idea! They should have had you consult them in the game design - a small detail with great effect!
Would really like to be able to do a walk through before confirming build and also when purchasing ships
We all would, or at least, give us a cutaway/semi transparent 3D visualization of what changes we're making to it by snapping this to that.
"...... otherwise I hate it" hahahaha
I mean...
Hopetech interiors are definitely my favorite. Wish they were a bit more fleshed out.
Since you are doing this for educational purposes, you should run the command code or get a mod that removes building restrictions. Would make it easier for you!
I could for sure, but at this time in my game I'm still playing purely vanilla, no Mods.
@@delindsayand we commend you for it.
@@alandanielsaucedo5066 Thanks.
@@delindsay Spending those hard earned credits to bring knowledge to the masses. You, sir, are both a gentleman and a scholar.
@@moosinator Why thank you.
Those living quarters with no beds are more like crew lounges, so maybe put one or two of the 2x1 habs with 4 bunks off of that. Sometimes I used a 2x1 living quarters next to a 2x1 crew quarters just because of that.
That's a good idea!
You see this is why I EXCLUSIVELY use the 2 story nova galactic cockpit you can if you place things correctly have ZERO ladders other than a docking and landing bay that's it though those aren't annoying if you have stairs and place them correctly.
I think that's why MOST people use that Cockpit to be honest.
You need to go to the Deimos staryards next to Mars, they sell all the Deimos habs.
The port hole window cancels out the pool table in case y’all haven’t had that issue like me
Another person mentioned that as well. It sucks to be honest.
Thank you for your input.
All in all, Deimos and Nova Galactic look the best with everything. Also their other modules.
Thank you and fixed. I typed 4.49 instead of 5.49 in the video description.
I hate that he has too, but I love the righteous annoyance in his tone at the begining
Heh.
I can confirm that it takes away the pool table if there’s a door remotely close to it, idk about port windows though
Yeah windows do also
Deinmos living quarters: The weight lifting in the corner is blocking the galley, so instead of being able to have proper stove, sinks and water they put in that mini standalone oven and also no beds. So no thank you.
Indeed, some odd interior decorating choices in quite a few of the Habs tbh.
I have like 12+ beds, so I think the stroud will do fine. Though I do like the fancy tv couch area on the nova.
Nova front entrance, porthole, or skylight deletes the pool table
Indeed, what a shame too.
That's fair.
To clarify on smaller/early game ships I'm fine with mixing bunks with a galley, it is an all in one, but when you get to a larger ship with a mess hall or living quarters it'd be nice to have just a hab with only bunks instead of a mix, inverse on living quarters.
@@Arrow352 I see nothing wrong with single purpose built Habs.
The racks reminds me of field beds - You sleep decent on them.
Fair enough.
@@delindsay at least ive done when ever i have slept on one.. but you sleep well on anything if your tired enough x)

I did catch an NPC doing push ups on the mat in front of the equipment last night.
I don’t know if it’s on the do to list but I wouldn’t Beth doing another once over of some of these to fix up the minor issues
Could you use another staryard or your own landing platform for your showcases, the background noise is a little loud…thx:)
I've done that before and it causes the video to drag out longer due to the distance between the Ship and the Tech but I can look around to see if there's a super close one, maybe Nova on Titan.
Easily fixed in the background noise audio options for the game. I have set mine down to 30%, I still hear everything but its bearable.
Serious.
And even several NPC's within the Staryard pronounce it differently.
25 Years in the making ❤ 😅
That is of course quite a few years ago now..
deimos and phobos are greek. dread and fear. DAY-mos.
Might be they intentionally pronounce the name of the Company like that so its differend from the moon.

Wait everyone is hearing deimos as dee-mos, you say it's die-mos.
Am I the only one that hears it as day-mos?
It's apparent we're all hearing it a little different, and with each of our different locational backgrounds, we'd all pronounce it a little different.
So I like your comparison videos, but as a tip, I think you should talk more about the actual design and aesthetic differences of the various rooms you’re comparing, rather than 90% just going over what might be lost from using different entry points. It gets repetitive and, while potentially useful info, isn’t very interesting.
