  • Speed Sew is a (latex) glue for fabric and crafts. I discovered after I filmed the video that it's also sold as Dritz Liquid Stitch Fabric Mender in the US. IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION REGARDING INGREDIENTS AND PRECAUTIONS on the website: wp.me/p1VO6a-5gx

    I use it often and I do not understand the negative comments?? I have used it to hem and patch work jeans that are washed often and I am impressed with the durability of repairs. It dries very fast and is easy to use. I am surprised that a few people are claiming it is not strong or a durable fabric glue. It exceeds my expectation. It has always worked well on cotton and even wool fabrics for me.

    I noticed a person asked you for advice about what to use for rhinestone adhesive. I myself have never tried this. However, this was recommended to me. Window caulking is supposed to work Extremely well. Good luck🎉 and I hope this can help you

    Thanks for the tests. I just bought some but I may choose not to use it after all since I don't want bleed through. I might use it on the underside of some projects for strength but not for anything important to see or feel. Great Review.

    Will this work with woven clothing labels? I was going to cheat and make labels for my snap back hats because i dont want to sew them on. Please let me know!

      If there are pores for the Speed-Sew to intertwine with it will work.

    Brilliant and informative demonstration! So I suppose this would be a faster alternative for sewing dolls as well right? I don't know if the active ingredients such as the ammonia you spoke of with interfere with a child playing with it (allergic reactions when the glue dries) thanks a bunch!!! :)

      The smell is only when you open the tube, after the glue dries you will not smell anything

    Use it to position instead of pins. Then sewing easier and mistake free. The denim loop has to be sewn. that high stress low area joint is asking way too much of any glue. also that joint can peel! Always design or stitch after so a glue joint can't peel.

    What is this product like with polyester on polyester? I have a polyester jacket that i'd like to repair and think that a glue is the only way that i'm going to be able to do it.

    Possible to glue quilted fabric that has come loose from a purse?

    • @SpeedSew
      @SpeedSew 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes possible but always test on a small area first, Speed-Sew is a glue and mistakes are hard to reverse.

    • @firebird74521
      @firebird74521 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It works best on woven fabrics such as cotton. It is not great on some plastic synthetics that but not always well on loose knitted fabrics. For denim it strong through many washings.

    thanks for the review.....should have watched before I spent the $9 for a tube. This is what girl guides parents must use for their patches....they just fall off!

    • @SpeedSew
      @SpeedSew 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason Speed-Ssew does not work well on patches is because of the wax patches have on the back side which does not allow speed-sew to adhere too 😞. Speed-Sew needs pores.

    • @dalegribble60
      @dalegribble60 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SpeedSew In all fairness I can't remember if they had wax, but I did use it for some upholstery work in a conversion van to join fabric elastics for seat pouches. I was pleasantly surprised to see it held. Mind you, I clamped them and left them 24 hours but it did work!!

    why would you pull apart the belt loop on those geans? that didn't make any sense to me, I mean that belt loop would have held, it wasn't like the belt would have tugged on the belt loop, nobody goes around tugging on belt loops.

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +anthony woodson I disagree. If I can tug it and it lets go, it would not hold just threading and unthreading your belt through the loops.

    • @anthonw24
      @anthonw24 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CraftTestDummies don't tug on it an it won't let go, it won't let go if you don't pull on it, don't give it a hardy tug an it won't pull apart.

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Obviously you are not the kind of gentleman who actually uses the belt to hold up his jeans. Many larger guys use that belt and those loops take a tugging.

  • @gscott5778
    @gscott5778 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The belt loop repair failure I understand - that's a lot of stress on a very small area. The patch - It looks like the back of the patch itself was coated with something as I have seen many mass production patches. That coating is probably the reason for the failure. You commented about not using too much of the adhesive on that decorative patch so that to is a "User Error' rather than a product failure.
    And finally the hemmed area - product seemed to work well except again as you mentioned using too much will result in bleed through.
    Bottom line - When you recognize the limits of a products use many work quite well. That round patch and belt loop failure both seem to fall into what I would call inappropriate use of a product. For somethings there is no "Quick Easy" fix. For things like hemming - My reason for looking at the video - The product seems to work quite well. This is especially true when I'm going to cut off some jeans with knee tears to make them into shorts. The glue should provide a nice non-fraying hem for work use. (Those dangling fraysof jean cloth keep feeling like a fly or bug on my legs)
    Thanks for your demo video - it was useful although perhaps a bit misleading when a product is used outside of it's designed use.

    I am kind of torn on your review. Although you were not paid to do the review and are not a spokesperson for the product, I don't know if you followed the directions accurately in order to give the product an honest review. You stated yourself that you glopped the product on a few items. Even with the jeans, you used too much and had to pull the back apart. All of those factors could have played a part in how the product adhered. I would love for you to do another review, this time taking your time and applying the product correctly as well as reading the directions so that we can also see along with you on how to use the product correctly.

    • @crafttestdummies
      @crafttestdummies  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Honey Bunches Thank you for your input. I stand by this review as I used the product on as many different fabrics and applications as I could...so that the consumer can see what works and what doesn't. PS- I did read the directions, there weren't really any. And certainly not a single note about the Latex being in there, which should be a flag due to allergies.
