B. B. King has so much groove soul it’s impossible not to “catch it” too while listening. What a great back up band showcasing his talents. Was happy to experience him at a Tulsa blues fest with Robert Cray & the Fabulous Thunderbirds. 🎸💙🎙️
God I love this man (& his band). Back in '89 on his tour of New Zealand, my friends & I hung around backstage for well over an hour post-concert, knowing he hadn't 'left the building'. The stage door opened & a security guy said you can come in if you're going to stay there all night. There was BB & his band having a late night dinner / drinks, we were treated like Kings (excuse the pun), & the nicest person you'll ever meet.
Well some people considered B.B. the King of the Blues, and here he is in his prime with Lucille and a hot horn section, exceptional performance! Fun Fact: One of the first times I saw B.B. King live, Led Zeppelin was the middle act and Taj Mahal opened the show in NYC summer of 1969.
@@brötzmannsax You were so lucky to see them in the very beginning! I’d have died and gone to hippie heaven, goodness gracious. Yep, between Page’s heavy drug addiction and Plant, blowing out his voice-believe he had nodule surgery? I’d still love to catch Plant’s solo tour, missed out on him a couple years ago-think I saw Jackson Browne show instead.
I can’t say for sure here, but iirc bb commented the main reason he liked his varitone circuit on Lucille was to get his sound out of any amp he had to use on tour. If that post eq is active he’s absolutely slamming that amp so the guitar is where the shaping comes from
Drop the episode🎉🎉 Please and Thank You! PS: B.B. gave me a guitar pick at Pine Knob❣️ And, I got his autograph at a book signing for his autobiography at Media Play, "Blues All Around Me," where he told me that I was beautiful😊.
B.B. King never played Lucille and sang at the same time. Watch any of his videos. He would sing, but not play then he'd quit singing and let Lucille do her thing.
It's an old stereotypical blues thing, named call/response, between singing and the guitar melody being played right afterwards. BB King could play and sing at the same time, he started playing the old Delta Blues style, like his cousin Bukka White
BB King self admitted many times he couldn't play a cord to save his life. All he ever did was leads. That is the main reason he doesn't sing while playing.
That's a "sneak preview" of the next episode. I think they should do that more often.
I saw the date and thought we haven't seen this episode yet. That's a cool idea.
Cool! He was so great! Not only an amazing guitarist, but soulful blues singer, too! 🤩💜
Check out his performance at Farm Aid in 1985, @stephaniejeanne. I was standing about 20 feet from him! :-)
@@kevin6667 Wow! That's awesome! 😄
Check him out at Sing Sing prison, David Hoffman shot the video (I believe), but don’t quote me, he has so many fab ones it’s hard to keep track.
He was a new 48 here

The country and year I was born would have loved to party with you guys but I couldn't even walk yet😂

Oh My Gosh, Really? So darn lucky for you! Never saw Led Zep although I love them, born a little too late. Cool story, my man
@@KittyGrizGriz Kitty, I saw Zeppelin 4 times from 1969 - 1976 and each time they appeared to get progressively worse.

Wow what a stacked playbill! You lucky Dog you
BB had that overdriven tone coming out of that Acoustic amp. Vintage '73 indeed !👍

BB King was the whole package: brilliant musician, outstanding singer and a heart-stopping showman. We will never see his likes today.

Great point, some musicians struggled with singing and playing at the same time including many drummers.

I saw an interview with BB King where he said just that. I love his music he has such a sweet tone.@@JulioLeonFandinho
