Well the shows are right in that a bathroom in the US without a shower/tub is not considered a whole bathroom. A bathroom with a sink and toilet is called a half bath. I would assume however that people, if they had the money, could change it to fit their culture. I have seen places in the US with the toilet in a different room than the sink or shower/tub because some cultures consider washing hands/body in the same room as the toilet as disgusting. That's exceedingly uncommon for a few reasons, resell value and reno costs etc. It's more common than that to have the shower and toilet in the same room and the sink in a different room. ”G'buh” at the end to His Majesty is such a mood. I do that to my cats all the time. Also can I just say that I love your channel so much, because it fills the same kind of vibe that the internet is missing without Jenna. Chaotic creativity channels are the actual best thing, mostly because it's usually 30-somethings playing dress up and making stuff because they CAN. As a 30-something that is also a fan of whimsy, I feel absolutely at home on this channel. Thank you for being awesome!
I laughed pretty hard at “The Oui Oui Room”… so, it’s safe to say I will be randomly laughing about it to myself for the next week. And also I’ve spent 10 minutes trying to think of a French pun in response until I realized I took French classes 20 years ago and since it’s 7 pm, I’m tired. Millennial Life.
I confess I thought tile + wallpaper + wainscoting + paint would be WAY too much for a small bathroom, but I think it looks great! It makes it feel like it's old (in a good way) and been added onto over the centuries. Nicely done!
As soon as you showed all those lights in that tiny space, I KNEW that it was going to be an issue. I love all the fixtures, but I would definitely be finding the lowest wattage possible for the bulbs. Maybe a little gas lamp flicker would be extra, or maybe it would be PERFECT.
Ok 1. The Jimenez shirt made me go AAAAAH, 2. How many pumpkins did you buy be honest, 3. I freaking love how this turned out!! When we eventually can buy a house, I'm going to watch all your remodel vids again for inspo. So good.
I absolutely love how your channel is so many things at once. You're DIY and Interior design videos are just as much fun as your makeup, clothing and other period styling videos!!!
Might I recommend a stud finder before you start cutting into walls? Not just for it's stated purpose, but it also tells you if there's electrical wiring behind the wall you're about to stick a saw into lol. I love these videos btw.. I find them motivating.. (I say as I sit in what we call the Marlboro room because the walls are painted blood red and I have hated them since we moved into this house last June but I have yet to do anything about because cathedral ceiling height walls with only a 6 ft ladder to work with lol)
Oof! I love red, but yeesh. Might be worth the price of a new ladder. The little giants are great because they still fold up into about the same space as your 6ft ladder does in storage.
Oooooo the blood red walls would be right up my alley!! Of course I’m the same person that painted blood red 12”x12” squares on one wall of a house I rented while in college & painted my living room orange in another house I rented bc I hate white walls!!! Now that I’m old and tired, & gotten lazy, the walls in my current place are white…and I haaaate them!!
Take the door off and add an antiqued bifold door. My stepmother got one from France with all this lovely molding.. sink out of old piece of furniture. You know fa ebook marketplace is your friend.
Regarding the peel and stick tile wall: It’s the little quirks that give it character. This is what my Mum said to my Dad many years ago when he was painting a pearlescent blue bedroom wall for me :)
I've actually been on a youtube home makeover kick so the fact that this is the theme for your video this week is SO GOOD FOR ME. I love the way the bathroom turned out!!! I actually was so mad at my dad for painting my bathroom brown at his house growing up... but you made brown work! Great job to Nick**** and Rachel on this one!!! We love a supportive hubby
About three days before you posted this, I bought the exact same trash can and toilet bowl brush from Target. I'm an interior designer if that helps you feel better about your choices! Love how you did the bathroom on a budget. Very tasteful!
I find joy in thinking she just brings supplies home one day and is like "Babbbeee I wanna do a thing" and then chaotically finishes her project with her hubby rushing behind to help lol. Looks great Rachel ♥️
For the framed art, a nice easy trick to making stuff like that seem older is to doa light wash with tea (also great for lamp shades and anything else that will stain lol)

Favourite part of my Saturday (cos I'm in NZ) is your videos. Paris is my dream theme but my creativity lies in writing and regency sewing (hopefully) . Loving all your home renos!
As a peel and stick tile veteran (I did our kitchen back splash all by myself on a whim) it's really important to clean the wall throughly beforehand and use a dry sponge to smooth the tiles as you go. I also used some superglue on some of my edges because they weren't sticking well enough and it worked like a charm. Love the bathroom! It makes me want to do home renovations I've been putting off lol
OMG my italian grandfather sent a postcard to my grandmother that looked exactly like the postcard you framed. I have it framed in our living room! 🙀😂 edit: thank you for your videos, love your vibe and style 💗
I think it turned out super pretty ! Although, I have one critique : you will not find metro tiles in France anywhere apart from an actual metro station. From the numerous american renovation shows I've seen, it appears that americans think metro tiles are classy and cool. It's probably part of why the New York restaurant you got your inspiration from had tiles like that. However, in France we just think it looks super cheap. If a room has metro tiles, they actually make me feel like the room is dirty because a lot of metro stations in Paris are kinda gross.
Both the papered wall and the tiled wall would be such cute backgrounds for selfies or photoshoots! Rachel, your interior design instincts are so strong
i mean it's always good, but the editing + voiceover narration is SO good in this video. i need a rachel makeover/diy video for every room in the house, even the hallway...
I loved watching this and it's made me realise I need to do my renos I planned over a year ago. Got a plan to turn my bathroom into a forest oasis type thing. Got my 3 green paints and a lighter bluish colour for the ceiling. I was going to sponge on my greens, but I've hesitated cuz I don't want to have a blobby smushy look. But watching this it occurred to me if I cut sponges into tree shapes, I can get more of a forest feel. I now can't wait to remove the wall that is blocking the window and heat vent in a small hallway behind it. That way my bathroom will finally have a closet in it. Yay storage. Well until I can afford an apartment stackable washer/dryer to go in that space so no more having to go into the basement to do laundry. Thank you for the inspiration. Hugs from one Rachel to another 😊.
Literally sitting on my half-made bed at 5:30 PM after "starting" at rearranging my room N this gave me the needed ✨inspiration✨ to go on {we must continue!!} so thank you ♡ Hopefully this gets *done* and I don't stop randomly again three minutes after picking two things up
The moment I noticed the Jimenez dagger on your shirt I swear to god Rachel I made such excited noises. I just want you to dress up as OFMD characters ASAP. Impeccable video as always btw!
Hooray for home renovation projects 🙌 🎉 beautiful transformation! Word of advice for those peel and stick tiles in the camper, use 3M spray adhesive to help stick tiles permanently. The variation in outdoor temperatures can cause the tiles to fall off without a little additional stickem.
The thrift store wooden frame with the gold inset was so perfect...such a find! I loved this transformation! Also my favorite detail is the small round frame. It makes my brain happy just to see it. Thank you for sharing!
Currently doing some renovations on an outbuilding on my farm and your home reno vids have been flooding my recommended! They're so relatable. It's nice to feel less alone in this huge (and often boring) undertaking. Thanks, Rachel!
Totally love the result!!!🤎🤎🤎🤎Perhaps, just a thought, to make the shelves above the towel bar on the narrow wall cause when you walk in to see the artwork might be nicer than shelves? Idk... ☺️😁
It looks wonderful! 🥰 I can't wait to see more! To anyone without photoshop, a great hanging trick is to use newspaper or something similar and cut it to the size of the frame/artwork (and put a mark where the holes are)! Tape them to the wall and rearrange as needed, then nail through it where your hanging holes are and just tear em off the wall. A final finishing touch that is small but 🤌 would be to fill all of the holes from the brad nailer with wood filler, light sand, and touch up paint and it'll be ✨so smooth✨
I swear you are my child! I loveeeee your decorating style! You do all the stuff I have done in the past. I am always taking a paint brush to "enhance" frames, etc. My brain never stops thinking how I can make an area look better. I also have a "Victorian" garden in my back yard that took my 20 years to complete. Trumpet vine, wisteria, clematis every where. Roses, fountains... adirondack chairs....shed with purple trim and lace curtains. Please keep making videos! I totally enjoy your style...and your charming personality....swear words included! 🤣
Love this! Believe me, no French person's ever had a bathroom looking this good! (Mine has a bus-stop sized poster of X-men Dark Pheonix... my boyfriend took it from a broken display, but got so mad at that movie that he put it in there as a joke... it's been 3 years and it hasn't moved 😅)
From one Victorian ghost to another: Lovely work as always, mama! I love all of the art choices! If you need another French artist recommendation, try Alphonse Mucha. He did a lot of Art Nouveau paintings, illustrations, ads, etc. of beautiful, thicc women in flowy clothing with heaps of flowers. *Chef’s kiss,* in my opinion.
What is it about bathrooms that is so distinctly French?" I also have a Parisian- inspired bathroom. Yours is much more beautiful than mine though! I love all the little details, especially the paneling and the gallery walls. You've inspired me to step up my game! Also, this was one of the most hilarious videos I've seen in a while. I loved all the bathroom puns. Pure perfection!
I wonder too? Lol I’ve been to France most bathrooms are very blah and the hotels I stay at the bathrooms are very different. No public bathrooms 👎🏼 and some places have squat toilet. 😵💫 But I would say history Victorian era has beautiful bathrooms but one must have money for those beautiful gold haha

Yes!! And I love that she has embraced very much Jenna marbles energy. We need that.
i mean this in the most positive way possible - whenever i come home from work and watch your newest video, i always fall asleep. your videos are so relaxing.
I second this! 💕✨
I relate so hard to that last sentence 😆
@@raraavis7782 you're not alone, there... 😅
@@raraavis7782 I’m genuinely relieved someone did!
You are a full mood!
Rachel is officially the queen of makeovers 🥰
You should also check out Christine McConnell's channel!
Watching Rachel's videos is like a marvel movie you have to stay after the good end to see the the whole thing. 😊
The post credits always bring it all together
I’m impressed. luv the vibe
Oh absolutely, I was trying to figure out what I didn't think was great about the lights! They're so cute, but definitely a little bright
Ok 1. The Jimenez shirt made me go AAAAAH, 2. How many pumpkins did you buy be honest, 3. I freaking love how this turned out!! When we eventually can buy a house, I'm going to watch all your remodel vids again for inspo. So good.
Rachel: I want my guests to be...transported
My brain: so it's a...Porta-potty. 🥁
Thats genius.
It’s fantastic Rachel!!! Love it
All your house videos make me so excited to one day have a house of my own to decorate bit by bit and make into my own special space 😭
I absolutely love how your channel is so many things at once. You're DIY and Interior design videos are just as much fun as your makeup, clothing and other period styling videos!!!
Yes! I agree!!!
Marlboro room sounds cool lol I would just decorate it with marlboro vintage signs and items and then confuse people by telling them I don’t smoke lol
@@adedow1333 oohhh I never heard of those! I'll have to look them up, thanks! That could be the answer to all my problems lol
@@usagiprincess4387 😂😂😂
Oooooo the blood red walls would be right up my alley!! Of course I’m the same person that painted blood red 12”x12” squares on one wall of a house I rented while in college & painted my living room orange in another house I rented bc I hate white walls!!! Now that I’m old and tired, & gotten lazy, the walls in my current place are white…and I haaaate them!!
I’ve been agonizing over what to do with my tiny ass bathroom. It feels like a prison toilet. I’m totally stealing this. Thank you so much!
There’s a Scottish guy that bought an abandoned tiny cottage thing and did an awesome renovation of it.
About three days before you posted this, I bought the exact same trash can and toilet bowl brush from Target. I'm an interior designer if that helps you feel better about your choices! Love how you did the bathroom on a budget. Very tasteful!
Rachel's vintage Indiana Jones T-shirt - excellent! Rachel's retro-style round golden-framed glasses - perfect! Rachel's dark-brown curly pony-tail & pony-fringe hairstyle - adorable!
"Le dog" - so cute!
I find joy in thinking she just brings supplies home one day and is like "Babbbeee I wanna do a thing" and then chaotically finishes her project with her hubby rushing behind to help lol. Looks great Rachel ♥️
Looks very nice. I do like subway tiles in general. They go well with antique and vintage style
For the framed art, a nice easy trick to making stuff like that seem older is to doa light wash with tea (also great for lamp shades and anything else that will stain lol)
hi just wanted to let you know that i look forward to your videos every week and they bring me so much comfort. as a newly adulted gen z you bring me hope for my scary journey into adulthood. it’s hard to explain but i don’t really have any role models who are your age, and you’ve shown me that while life is still hard and you never really figure things out even in your 20s, you can make pretty things out of it. this doesn’t make much sense but i love you and you bring me sm comfort
This makes a lot of sense, especially retrospectively as someone at the tail end of their 20s. You will be more than ok :)
That embroidered Jim Jimenez shirt is Amazing!
If your looking for a plant that won’t die if you forget about it think about a snake plant. They are supper chill and honestly do best of you kinda forget about them for a while. (Mine does fine with a week and a half to two weeks between watering)
It's always awesome to see Rachel wearing the clothing she's made in previous videos. I saw the green 40's pinafore and gasped.
That and the green check shirt = PERFECTION 🥰
I loved this video so much. The bathroom turned out so cute. For what my comment is worth, please continue to do these diy home renovation videos. They're great!
Favourite part of my Saturday (cos I'm in NZ) is your videos. Paris is my dream theme but my creativity lies in writing and regency sewing (hopefully) . Loving all your home renos!
Me too, Good morning from another Kiwi🥝🌼🌸
I think your bathroom looks fantastic!
It is so inspiring how you take control of your space through decoration ❤
As a peel and stick tile veteran (I did our kitchen back splash all by myself on a whim) it's really important to clean the wall throughly beforehand and use a dry sponge to smooth the tiles as you go. I also used some superglue on some of my edges because they weren't sticking well enough and it worked like a charm. Love the bathroom! It makes me want to do home renovations I've been putting off lol
I LOVE THAT JIM JIMENEZ SHIRT!!!! 😍🍊🔪
Our Flag Means Death has been my favorite show at the moment!
OMG my italian grandfather sent a postcard to my grandmother that looked exactly like the postcard you framed. I have it framed in our living room! 🙀😂
edit: thank you for your videos, love your vibe and style 💗
New subscriber here and I absolutely love this renovation! The brown looks SO good with the wallpaper! I want a Parisian bathroom now too 😂😂😂
I think it turned out super pretty !
It came out so cute!
Literally sitting on my half-made bed at 5:30 PM after "starting" at rearranging my room
N this gave me the needed ✨inspiration✨ to go on {we must continue!!} so thank you ♡
Hopefully this gets *done* and I don't stop randomly again three minutes after picking two things up
I swear you have midas touch- everything you make turns to gold! Your videos are my fav part of my week
Beautiful bathroom, entertaining commentary, and two fun people doing everything? Nailed it! ❤
The moment I noticed the Jimenez dagger on your shirt I swear to god Rachel I made such excited noises. I just want you to dress up as OFMD characters ASAP. Impeccable video as always btw!
I'm french and i can say you and Nicholas have perfectly recreate the atmosphere of the french "bistrot" touch. Best regards from, l'île de Ré.
Très jolie décoration et élégante, je trouve que c'est réussi!
"It's fine. It's RUSTIC!" THAT is genius. And so true!! Thank you so much Rachel. You're always inspiring me with your magic and wisdom. ✨ ❤️
The thrift store wooden frame with the gold inset was so perfect...such a find! I loved this transformation! Also my favorite detail is the small round frame. It makes my brain happy just to see it. Thank you for sharing!
I agree! I go antiquing on my channel and just loved the transformation as well! Wonderful execution!
Currently doing some renovations on an outbuilding on my farm and your home reno vids have been flooding my recommended! They're so relatable. It's nice to feel less alone in this huge (and often boring) undertaking. Thanks, Rachel!
Amazing, stunning and spectacular!! Also, not me just scrolling through the comments trying to see if anyone else noticed Rachel's Jimenez shirt!! 😆
I love that the color „baguette“ also looks a bit like the color of pee and the cabinet is painted poop brown 😌*perfection*👌🏻
Ok I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that!
Exactly what I was gonna mention! I usually use baking paper. It really makes gallery walls so much easier!
Fantastic! Shelves are usually good. "Clutter core" is universal!
The renovations are great, I find them relaxing. Your Parisian Powder room is delightfully bewitching! ✨🥐💕
I agree Lelani!! delightful indeed!
I love your bathroom renovation!! I love antiques and the artwork you chose is fantastic!! Magnifique!!!
Love the color of the bathroom cabinet
What is it about bathrooms that is so distinctly French?" I also have a Parisian- inspired bathroom. Yours is much more beautiful than mine though! I love all the little details, especially the paneling and the gallery walls. You've inspired me to step up my game!
Also, this was one of the most hilarious videos I've seen in a while. I loved all the bathroom puns. Pure perfection!
I wonder too? Lol
I’ve been to France most bathrooms are very blah and the hotels I stay at the bathrooms are very different. No public bathrooms 👎🏼 and some places have squat toilet. 😵💫
But I would say history Victorian era has beautiful bathrooms but one must have money for those beautiful gold haha
Remember when all bathrooms were beach or ocean themed? This is the new version of that 😂
@@bast713 You’re not wrong 😂
It’s because toilet is French.
My bathroom is also pretty French ☠️
