No blousing ties in the pants is no big deal for Marines because we don't blouse our pants by tucking them into our boots like the Army does. Indstead, we use boot bands, or other similar things, and we blouse them over our boots.
In regards to the woodland top, it's properly called a blouse, not jacket. And as far as sanitization goes, that would have been done by the previous owner and the government since most uniforms issued to service members are ours to keep even after getting out. So this blouse, or top, was owned by somebody who left the military, removed the patches then sold it off to the surplus store.

There use to be more surplus stores around. Stars and Stripes Surplus in El Cajon, Gi joes had more location s, Rosebud surplus, Goodrich surplus, Sad Sacks and more. There are still some others in North County. Maybe just one.

I think next San Diego trip, I'll be renting a car! Haha
An Uber driver pointed out there's swap meets for collectable stuff like shoes and clothing. I would have checked that out but we left before we had the opportunity.

I remember trying to find Choccy Chip tops in L-L to go with the pants my father in law had given me when I decided to do a Persian Gulf War inspired airsoft kit. Just as hard to find in 2019 as they are now. I think it's because it's a good-looking camo that didn't see a whole lot of use compared to what came before and after. That, and it was phased out in the mid-90's.

I have some of those from a CAF uniform. I thought they were just for uniform presentation!

@ tie two of the bungees together to hold thick pants tighter against your skin for those really buggy areas. They make your pants look good and protect against bugs.

Is contrast under IR something you want, or no?

I was also confused on this. Seems like you would want contrast as thats the whole point of camo right? But he implied contrast under IR was a bad thing. I think either way it doesn't matter IR was just a fun test, doubt it would be applicable to a civilian.
