One of the best songs of all time. One of the best bands of all time. So grateful to have grown up with this music. Kids today have nothing that comes close.

I'm forty one and I just watched this for the first time. I was thinking yesterday how Vedder could take a negative experience and make it sound so positive. This performance reveals some of the pain. And they are still performing just as visceral in 2017 being inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame early this year.

Then I listened to Ten and Vs, just to check them out - I wasn't disappointed. Best live band of all time? That's difficult to say. Queen could have given them a good run for their money in their day. Different eras though, so it's all hypothetical.

I want to comment about Dave cause I think he doesn't get the credit he deserves. I'm a massive Pearl Jam fan and for me the sound that made them the legendary band that it is today is based on this man's approach to drumming. His pocket is perfectly laid back enough to give tracks the looseness that it needs to flow correctly. If you are a musician you know that there are lots of ways to land or fit inside a certain tempo, and this guy manages to do that in a perfect way. You could be a technical prodigy and be able to play any groove or any time signature, but these little things are what separate a great musician from a gifted one.
He was great with them. But the 1st album and the demos were the blueprint for the way the songs got played. And the drummer on the demos was... ...Matt Cameron!
That was amazing! I wish there were bands like this nowadays coming through. Great melodies, lyrics, and such intense, exciting performances - pure magic. Thx for sharing.
Eddie himself is a very beautiful thing outside and inside. Outside is what we can see and inside is what we feel and hear. He is what we all could aspire to be. Free spirit.
Admittedly I've only ever liked a couple of Pearl Jam songs until recently, but I've loved Vedder for years 😍 but now since actually listening to more songs I love their music and it shows just how much better older bands are, they sound just as amazing singing live, you can hardly tell the difference

Years passed, and many of us continue to enjoy it and see with great nostalgia that the best drummer was undoubtedly Dave Abbruzzese. The strength, image and style that he added were very noticeable. He was the 5th Pearl Jam in all its manifestations.

Dave is one of the greatest drummers to ever play. So underrated. Their first two albums with him were incredible.
Dave Abbruzzese did not play on their first album “Ten”. It was another Dave: Dave Krusen.
