Im alive!!! I was paralyzed and was wheelchair bound a year ago this December ( due to 6 cysts putting pressure on my spinal cord) my surgeon was told that it was too risky of a surgery and not to do it!!! But he was willing to take the chance, if iwas willing to go through with it and if course I said, YES! Not knowing what the outcome would be but when I woke up after a 14 hour surgery ( honestly, 14 hour's) with three weeks of intense physical therapy i am walking, and using my hands again!!! And able to be a wife , and a mother to my autistic son! This song gives me strength 🙏 Thank-you, I'm alive!!thankyou Dr.Vivas, my family and Pearl Jam, , you got me through it all💖

My grandpa died 30 years ago, very unexpectedly. He and I were super close. When my mom told me the news, I went to my apartment and stood in the middle of my living room, blasting Alive again and again and again while screaming along with it. It got me through some very dark days back then. This is not just 'a song'.

5 years sober from heroin. Today I am employed and insured. This song makes me grateful I changed my life around before it was too late, and gives me hope for those that haven't chosen the same path yet. I have 8 friends/loved ones that I was on a day to day speaking basis for a while at one point in my life with, that have died from drugs.

Celebrated 5 years of sobriety back in September. Addiction led me down a dark road. Issues with family, work, friends, money, and homelessness. I took a huge leap of faith and asked for help. Now I'm sober, madly in love, have had stable housing, etc. It's been tough, but i wouldn't change a thing. Now I love me again and I can look myself in the mirror and smile.

My boys have no grandfathers, they were little when he died and close to him. His grandkids born since his death lost out & he lost out because he refused help. He didn't have a problem according to him but he was so wonderful when he was sober. The past is gone, we can't change mistakes we made then but we can make a better tomorrow. I don't know you but I feel Love for you and I know your path will get brighter and brighter! I have had friends who died from heroin & I miss them more than words can say. Good Luck my Friend! This song hits me so hard and means so much. My dad lives on in me, in his granddaughter and all those he touched. I used to know a guy in college who was a huge Pearl Jam fan. We used to have a lot of petty arguments and banter as I was really into Nirvana. We became quite close and had a lot fun times together. Eventually drifted apart due to various reasons. A few years after we graduated, he killed himself. He had so much to live for and yet one night decided to end it all, for reasons only known to him.
I have never been a Pearl Jam fan but I come back to this one every now and then to keep my memory of him alive. It was one of his favourites - along with Rearview Mirror. I hope he's found peace.

1993. I'm 10 years old, and I'm just getting home from school one spring afternoon. My mom's younger sister, my Aunt Diane is sitting in the living room, and I'm a bundle of joy in seeing my aunt in the first place but low & behold she brought with her something special.
She'd gone to Music Plus+ when I was in school, and came back with a brand new copy of Pearl Jam's debut _Ten_. I tore open the packaging, popped the CD into the stereo, and was taken away to a better world with the first riff from *this* very song.
That's possibly one of the happiest memories of my life.
In 1997, I lost my mother to cancer when I was only 15...my aunt hasn't spoken to me since I was 23 because of a falling out over my leaving the church of Jehovah's Witnesses. That was a decade ago.
*Fuck I love this song. It fills me with life, and with hope.*

I remember listening to this over and over again with my headphones on full volume, and it was the first song ever in my life that I felt so connected to. I guess you can put your own interpretation to it! Possibly the most emotionally intense song ever and the guitar at the end is unbelievably intense. Thank god for music!
