  • Looking to expand your Crimson Stone scenery set? The Hlökk scenery expansion set from Corvus Belli is the natural way to increase your table density for a fraction of the cost of MDF terrain.

    I started Infinity casually since my friend in another state was playing regularly. Whenever we played at home we would have salt shakers and I could not survive as a noob. So I bought Wildfire and love the cardstock terrain, and here that they are just better now. Great for what I need, and easy to fold up for storage.

      They’re thinner cardboard than wildfire but still very good. I love that the little buildings fit inside the larger ones so easily. As you say, great for storage.

    I found that two complete sets is enough terrain for a full 300 point game. By two sets I mean two of the default and two expansions. It was enough terrain that you can stack some buildings on top of each other to vary your tables from game to game.

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you’re spot on there. I’ve been adding terrain from another set to really round it off but it’s the heading variation that’s really important.

    With two objective rooms you can.build one as a normal building with a roof. It takes up a lot of space too, which helps.

    I have operation blackwind, and its my first ever infinity set. Its such good value. I ended up buying the Aplekton scenery pack as well. Really enjoy these cardboard terrain sets ! Will eventually look into getting some MDF stuff in the future.

    In our infinity club we have a heavy weight at the bottom of every building, so they don't move so easily from a tiny touch. It could help your sniper tower too.

      Do you glue it to the side for buildings that don’t have a floor?

      @@the_infinitygamer it's a problem if a building doesn't have a floor) But regarding tower, I guess inside of it to the walls, since it closed from all sides.

    • @the_infinitygamer

      That is a good idea. My fears seem to be unfounded as it’s only going to be an issue if I knock it while it’s loaded with models.

    If you have all the other operation boxes I'd love to see a video where you keep adding them until you are happy with a table. I ended up going with Acid House because I needed to haul it to and from my store. Their 4x4 dense set is all I need. If I hadn't gone with Acid House my other play was to buy a bunch of the main sets and expansions.
    So, if you could show an example of the minimum playable, plus an ideal, that'd be great.
    I'd also lose to see more table building videos. I think a poorly designed table can really make the game unplayable and there isn't really a lot of good information. A video every once in a while feels like an easy video which would be great to see.

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really loved the acid house set. The only downside (which is the same for much of the CB cardboard terrain) is that you can’t play inside the buildings.
      I think I might just have a bough terrain to do that sort of video. I’ll have a rummage and see - great suggestion!

    • @TylerProvick
      @TylerProvick ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@the_infinitygamer Yes, if I was planning to play at home I'd be slowly replacing the CB terrain with better terrain. Being able to bring an entire table-worth of terrain to my FLGS in essentially a briefcase trumps being able to enter buildings

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can see that for sure - and the acid house print looks really good.

  • @quietprofessional4557

    I think the Crimson Stone terrain is to fill a 150 point table. The Hlokk expansion pack, in combination with Crimson Stone, makes a 200/250 point game table. I think that is the design intention from Corvus Belli.

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would make a lot of sense. It’s not far off a full table but does seem to be a handful of buildings shy.

  • @andywang7875
    @andywang7875 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The kaldstrom mats are also blank on the reverse side.

  • @anunrulytodd6127
    @anunrulytodd6127 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Those bits go at the bottom of the stairs. Stops the staircase pulling apart. The hooks at the top grab onto the lip of the buildings
    Also, scapel the joints from the matte side of the sheets and push out from that side. If you pop the parts from the shiny side it will often tear out the matte side. Its about the direction the cutter pressed into the sheet, not always perfect alignment and doesnt cut through 100%, especially if it gets blunt after a run.
    The objective room built with a roof config basically gives you the next size up building when you use the stairs, so you can achieve 3 story buildings that rival the height of the sniper towers.

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The where wasn’t as much of an issue as the why - I just don’t get the point of them 😃
      That’s a really handy tip on the scalpel though - I really should have done that. I just didn’t think it would be necessary as the other terrain sets don’t have the same issue.

    If u put the roof on the big building then u could layer a second smaller building on top to give more height like the sniper tower 🤷‍♂️😊 perhaps adding some scenery like cliff faces or statues would be a good option to add that extra bit of scenery too, I have crimson stone and will definitely try to pick this expansion up after seeing ur review ☺️

      @@the_infinitygamer I’m coming from a 40K player 20-30years ago, back then me and my friends had cardboard on the floor with books and whatever we could find, but GW also sold books on how to make terrain, that was one of my favourite parts of the hobby, I’d still love to build a full table for a game one day, having the room for it is tricky tho, but what’s easy to have is some cut up pieces of foam that have been painted to look like rocky outcrops and stuff 😉😊 I have some warhammer stuff still and love the lore behind it, but gw selling practices have turned me off, with the amount of books I need to buy and then those expensive books being outdated a couple months later is too frustrating. I’ve started to force myself more towards infinity and malifaux so I have more stable gaming systems, u fortunately many ppl are addicted to the fomo and gw crack 😔😂

    The matrial is a bit thinner than previous sets but still durable. I agree that you have to be carful when taking the parts out and I also had trouble with the tower. I messed up one corner with stairway, but I accidently took some wrong steps (I don´t like it when they are different) and had to put it togheter a second time. After all is a nice and cheap set.

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Messing up the steps is easy to do with them being more spread across the different sheets. The price is definitely an attractive feature!

    I found the dimensions on the small buildings to be slightly off (at least on my cardstock sprues). It keeps bugging me that the corners are not at right angles. But it's not too noticeable from a distance and they look great, so there's that

    Have the included sets from the Operation boxes - have not picked up any expansion sets. Combining two of the included sets + this expansion looks like a good option for a full table. Can't recall if you looked at any of the Battle Systems terrain for setting up a dense table?

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think I’ve checked out battle systems at all. The operation set plus this will be good for 200 points and under but you might need another operation set and maybe a little more for 300 point games.

    Played a game on the (equivalent) Darpan sets last week. The objective room and bridges really add three-dimesionality to the table. Highly recommended.
    I wonder if perhaps buying 2x the expansion pack and assembling the second objective room with a ceiling instead would allow putting the smaller buildings on top of that and getting some good 2nd floor LOS blocking that way?

    • @the_infinitygamer
      @the_infinitygamer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a very good suggestion. That would work quite nicely.
