German prisons have excellent hospital wards, so putting a scammer addicted to gambling in prison and a hospital at the same time shouldn't be an issue. • @neo_child
    @neo_child ปีที่แล้ว +31

When Asmon said "I don't sympathize with him", I totally agree.
If he were scamming people for money, sure, that's one thing.
But then there's the clip of Trainwrecks who, randomly out of the kindness in his heart, decided to instead of consolidating his debt, Trainwrecks would just give him a flat sum to pay it all off. No one would do this for free to someone they barely know. NO ONE.
And Sliker went BACK to Trainwrecks to ask for more.
He was given, not one, but two chances to stop. He was given 2 rare "Get Out Of Jail Free" card to get out of a gambling debt and squandered both of it. He knew his problem, he knew his debts, and he STILL tried to scam for his addiction.
Yes, he should get help. Yes, if I personally knew Sliker, I would sympathize and try to help him get out of the addiction. But that is where my sympathy stops. I will not forgive him for scamming people. Helping him out of a bad addiction is one thing, trying to downplay the seriousness of his crime and passing it off as "It wasn't you doing it, it was the addiction" is another.

@@rasmachris94 well there is a difference between screwing somebody over for addiction and self gain. Sliker gained nothing from hurting others. He actively hurt his own freinds and people he cared about and repeatdly gambled it away. That goes beyond being a bad person. You cant compare him to some1 who uses the money to buy a big house and a car. He directly suffered the worst out of any of his victims. Allmost could be considered self-harm. At that point you have to understand sliker was clearly mentally not right. No sane human being would do what he did. Locking him away will not discourage others from doing it as he clearly was not aware of what he was doing in the first place. Punishment isnt the right solution to this. Therapy is.

But i believe that these people do not have an influence on the platform anymore. Twitch and their decisions have been more and more guided by corporate interests rather than whats good for this eco system as a whole throughout the years. They dont listen to the consumer, they dont listen to the content creators, they put in features that nobody needs nor asked for, while not implementing things that should be crucial for streaming like a basic rewind function - something youtube had since forever. They milk the people who create the revenue for them by taking 90% of the ad revenue. Then they lowered the costs of subscriptions with the promise that it would be more affordable, but instead people didnt subscribe more and Amazon keeps a bigger cut from prime memberships, which is now getting even more expensive, while streamers dont see a single dime from this increase. This is the attitude you need to have with addicts who cross the line of stealing/scamming. Once they cross that line, there’s no going back over it, and will keep scamming and stealing until it’s no possible, either because they are incarcerated or are in a forced rehab situation. Speaking from experience with family that were/are addicts, a cousin who is a chronic heroin addict for the past 20 years that scammed and stole from family who, after 20 years of this and refusing rehab, has long since been disowned. An uncle was a gambling addict, he tried scamming but was called out and made to go to rehab. Even after he got out, his wife was in control of all the finances, because he couldn’t be trusted.
So yeah, addicts can have sympathy/empathy, but don’t be naive and blind to who they hurt and absolve them of wrong doing, cause they’ll just turn around and keep doing it

They are just disappointed at how avoidable this all was and hopes he can get the help he deserves. Most of the people who initially talked about Sliker actually met and knew Sliker, so it wasn't like it was just a bunch of random commentary channels discussing it all. Empathy and Gullibility are two different things. its one thing to help but theres MANY ways to help...and being empathically realistic. It is a thing...or being someones crutch or enabler. Being just as irresponsible as the addict is a thing, so coming from someone who would give you a kidney...Ill give my time, or food or clothes, whatever; but money is a risk cus it can be used however and you will have no idea.
So be a little more closed lip on your wallet...being generous is one thing but be sure you know everything. At this point Slickr...he needs help, not money...he needs a totally different support you are not obligated to give to once so ever. Slickr needs to handle his own life...I wont condemn him to death.
Death will let him off scott free, he needs help which is beyond me or maybe anyone.
Tldr for those who wont...just becarefull with your money, you dont need to give people money to be a understanding, and caring person.

The people making the excuse for him being a "gambling addict"
Seem to forget that not only is he a grown man that should know right from wrong but he took money in a calculated way. He picked his targets and asked them not to say anything. He did this knowing that he will be able take money from as many people as possible before getting caught. There might be up to 100 victims... maybe more. And one that we know of is a cancer patient that needed the money.
Even throughout all of this he continued to steal. And didn't have any actual plan to pay them all back.
Why should I care or anyone else what happens to him after he didn't care what happens to up to 100 people??? Due to his issues and his problems. Why is it okay to forgive him for inflicting pain on up to 100 people 🤔
Sliker should be arrested for this and forgotten.
If you think you're being a good person for caring about Sliker...

Mental health should definitely never be an excuse when others are effected by it.
When a person diagnosed with bipolar enters a manic state there's a high likelihood they will become violent in their dissociated state, so the police are called and they are removed from the situation for treatment. I think the same should be said about a person who has a severe gambling addiction who commits fraud and scams people out of their money, whether the action is taken by Twitch or the authorities.
If Slicker truly needs the help he needs then he needs to remove himself from his situation with all of his risk factors around him that will make him slip back into his prior behavior.

It's apparent that you have never had a gambling addiction to be answering in this manner. As someone who got hooked on gambling for about a year but have quit now, I'll tell you this exact remorseful understanding and coddling attitude and reaction to someone ruining their life and being an absolute loser is exactly the ammo/motivation a gambler needs to continue gambling and convince themselves it isn't that bad. What you actually need to do is call it how it is, tell the person they are a fking loser and idiot wasting their money and time chasing a dream of becoming rich fast that will never come. You have to tell to present them facts and even watch in on them while they gamble and reassure them of how much of an idiot/loser they are there loosing because 95% of the time it's all losses. Have sympathy for these people is motivation and as an x-gambling addict any and I mean ANY excuse you can have to continue gambling is the ammo and motivation people will use to keep gambling. Stop being so soft you aren't helping no one with this attitude and are actually hurting those recovering from this serious addiction.
