To everyone saying Sliker "genuinely thought he'd pay everyone back", reminder that one of his mods spoke out on Asmon's stream and said that at twitchcon EU Sliker told him he'd never see his money back and laughed. He deserves not an ounce of sympathy, he's not remorseful for what he did, just that he got caught.

Also he was asking for money days before this all broke, so nothing changed until people found out. I dont wanna dogpile because I've had a gambling addiction and I've used basically the same tactics to garner money from friends, but I always paid people back when I said I would. It was manipulative, and I've been "clean" for about 3 years, but it was a monster I had very little control on at the time. If I was earning more and had access to more then I'd have been in the same position as Sliker. Not excusing him or me but I know how different that person was to the person I am today. I hope Sliker takes an ENORMOUS fall and then finds his feet again

Go read up on gambling addiction mate. The thought process is exactly as he explains it, whether he's lying about him experiencing it or not, it's spot on. They _actually_ believe that they're just a couple spins away from the big win and then they'll repay every loan/theft/whatever. If they actually get the big win they'll do it as well, but then they'll gamble away the rest and come back to the people for more loans etc.
It's the same with drug addictions. It completely hijacks your mental faculties when you don't have access to whatever you're addicted to. They're not demons lol.
_Edit: all of that is true even if you openly act like an asshole to one or more of the people you loan money from. It's kinda part of the package, any excuse to not repay people will really help you gamble more._

Or they thought, no way I'd get scammed since he is a streamer. They probably thought that a relatively big streamer won't have issue paying them back and that they wouldn't get scammed since it's so easy to ruin you streamer career this way.

Reimbursing the people who were scammed doesn't enable Slicker, it enables the pyramid of enablers fuelling the whole thing.
    - It's emotionally convenient to lend people money without oversight, especially when they claim they'll pay you back more
    - It's emotionally convenient to donate other people's money to "save" the victims from the consequences of their irresponsibility and greed
    - It's emotionally convenient to sacrifice an addict to avoid taking personal responsibility or blaming the majority
Beyond averting medical disasters, I don't think anyone should be reimbursed. Anyone donating to reimburse them is just doing exactly the same thing as the people who Slicker borrowed from to pay earlier lenders. The cost is just being shifted further from the point of origin. Streamers with gambling sponsorships reimbursing people is even more moronic. It's removal of critical feedback.
Out of the dealer, the addict and the enablers, I think the enablers are the ones who most need to learn something, but are the least likely to as long as they have someone to sacrifice in their place. I wonder how many people comprehend how their charity has led to the financial ruin of some of their peers. The betrayed also betrayed each other. If Slicker can be blamed for not exercising self control, then everyone else involved definitely can. Irresponsible generosity is not a virtue. Slicker didn't reward and condition himself. He got as far as he did and affected as many people as he did because of the help he received.
If this comment resonates with anyone, I recommend looking up "The Philosophy of Kreia" here on TH-cam. Who is to blame is irrelevant. What matters is what improves the future. The only people who can avoid a repeat of this situation are the people who were scammed or the government. Expecting Slicker to not scam you is self-defeating. And the gambling sites didn't lose anything and don't care. In fact, reimbursing people helps gambling sites and scammers retain the pool of enablers needed to run them.

Another critical distinction between online and IRL casinos: gambling addicts can put themselves on an exclusion list, and if they try to go gamble at the physical casinos, they will be refused, and kicked out. Sketchy as hell online crypto-casinos operating under gaming licenses from Curacao barely even bother checking if you're even who you tell them that you are, let alone take any sort of steps to turn away admitted gambling addicts.

People found out about his drug/alcohol addiction and they blasted the fuck out of him on social media. He eventually moved and, Months later he still had the audacity to ask for money. *Needless to say, I distanced myself from him, I don't even talk to him anymore*, what worried me is he knows where I live and I didn't want him to just stop by one day. Which, gladly, hasn't happened. Last time I saw him was on Instagram, like 2 months ago, just absolutely smashed? Blasted? Whatever term you wanna use, he was just gone, fucked up. 36:30 I think the point a lot of people are missing about the situation with xQc, Ludwig, and TrainWreck, is they aren't really giving Sliker a way out. He's never going to pay that money to those people. If you want to think of it, Sliker would now owe THEM the money that they repay. So technically speaking they are taking the debt onto themselves because they feel they can better withstand the hit.
Honestly I believe if they do do this, they would fully be within their rights to tell Sliker to "Dance Monkey Dance!" because they've basically bought him for the price of the debts. They should have him out there in a stupid costume, helping them raise money for charities and crap, or whatever they want to tell him to do. He's not being let off, he's just indebted to new, more powerful people. Samaritan Andy can't do crap to guilt/leverage this guy, but I don't know that Scammer Andy want's to throw down on social media against the likes of those who'll be holding his marker. Just my $0.02. If they help the victims, at least his debt will be held by more empowered people.

So I think I figured something out. Gambling addiction has a higher suicide rate than addiction because a drug addict can sometimes really contain the fallout to their own lives. They won't make anyone's life any easier, but they don't always destroy someone else's life. With gambling, you probably ask to borrow money, thinking you can pay them back after you win, but you lose, rinse and repeat with 50 other people and when the house of cards gets knocked over, the fucking gambling addict has all those people he pissed off, coming at him, all at once, and asking for their money, and the pressure is probably too much for most people who don't have friends who can bail them out.

I mean Asmon is right in many ways about Sliker not being redeemable and deserving of the repercussions, but I also heavily disagree on parts his viewpoint as well. Hating Sliker will not solve the problem or the pain that was caused by his actions.. in fact, it will create more and put more focus on the negative aspect of this outcome. Enjoying his pain is something I view as almost sadistic and disgusting considering we are all very capable of being in his shoes, and what makes it even more disturbing is the fact Asmon would decide to PRAISE him (even if jokingly) if he was a mastermind at what he did and managed to get away. Yes Sliker scammed a bunch of poor people out of their money, was an incredibly bad person and has made some really disgusting hypocritical decisions regarding his social life, and he will have to live with those repercussions. In no way is Sliker NOT going to be affected by this in his social and financial circle. My point here is with how we are all deciding to deal with the problem. It is very disturbing to watch a popular streamer like Asmongold completely ignore someones plea for a suicidal person in an emotional breakdown, trying to give another perspective to the situation, only to be trumped by a viewpoint from a rich basement dweller on how we should morally serve justice by collectively pushing him to suicide, on the notion of him not being able to harm others. We are still talking about a life here, a life with a lot of potential, even in these circumstances, especially for positive change. And to completely disregard life in that way, only to become a righteos emotion driven idiot who tunnel visions a version of justice they deem appropriate. Im not talking about the potential bad things he still could do in his life, althought i can guarantee if we keep treating him with this negativity, how do you expect a person in that position to strive for positive change? I mean your whole american prison and justice system is a bad fucking joke, with an almost 80% recidivism rate. Its absolutely pathetic how you deal with outliers and expect them to heal their trauma by shitting in their mouth and treating them like garbage. Im not justifying Slikers actions, im condemning the internets reaction. There are mature ways of solving this issue and getting Sliker the help he so obviously needs. Ludwig and X are one example of how you try and bring a positive change to such a negative situation. Sliker deserves the consequences, but he also deserves human empathy and Love. show him the proper way of living and experiencing life, don't give him the same lesson hes known all his life.

Sorry but why again are we assuming that Sliker is addicted to gambling? Because he said so? Are we taking him by his word? Seriously? This reeks like another scam. After all, he has always stylized himself as the 'master manipulator'. Now he sheds some tears and gets big streamers to prevent legal action by paying off his debt and is now able to pocket even more money using sympathy and reinvent himself as a victim. Disgusting.

Wait... I must admit, that Asmons take on all this has left me feeling a bit cold. Stating that he doesn't give a fuck if a person is suicidal? Asmon talks frequently about all the times he and his friends scammed and stole things. When the Slicker shit dropped and people posted a video of him using the N word lots of times.... there is a reason Asmon quickly moved to dismiss it, it's because Asmon used to drop the N world all the time back in the day. (Which I don't really care about but it's so disingenious)
So here you have a guy who readily admits to lying, stealing, defrauding and scamming people for years. Acting in the super righteous way regarding this situation? It's clear Slicker is a POS. I just find it a little hard to take this moral grandstanding from someone like Asmongold.

He'll have good takes, he'll have bad ones, surprise, he's human. And lets be real, content is king for these people, they will cover it until it's beaten to the ground. Mizkif had no hesitation, same shit with Andrew tater tot. He has been open about his past and "degenerate" lifestyle. He can smell a guy like slicker a mile away, he knows the type. The guy isn't sorry, he's sorry he got caught. And he isn't at rock bottom yet.

The malice and the fact that he only admitted everything on live, with those fake crocodile tears, playing it on people's empathy, don't know man, it sickens me. He should be helped (if what he said about him being a suicidal is really true) but he should absolutely pay for what he did

What's really disapointing in all of this are the influencers who lent him money and knew something was scummy about it but kept completely quiet until it blew up in his face, Sliker scammed people out of life changing money, anyone who could've called him out but kept quiet should feel ashamed, their voice could've prevented Sliker from scamming his audience who are struggling to make ends meet.

"sliker is suicidal" he clearly wasnt feeling that way before he got exposed. this time hes just trying to manipulate people for their sympathy instead of their money. how hes not banned after he scammed his twitch subs is beyond belief. paying off his gambling debt and helping the people that were manipulated ARE NOT the same at all though. i think once xqc and them come to a conclusion about how much the total amount they are paying back to the people he scammed are they should get sliker to agree to pay the streamers back so hes still held accountable for the debt. even though it will obviously be a formality i think it would cover both sides of the coin. the victims get their money back and he would still be held accountable for his debt. if he really wants to prove that he has remorse and intends to really pay the money back then he could do it that way.

"Such kindnesses will mean nothing, his path is set. Giving him what he has not earned is like pouring sand into his hands, and would that be a kindness? What if by surviving another day, he brings a greater darkness upon another? , the slightest push, the smallest touch, sends echoes throughout life, even an act of kindness may have more severe repercussions than you know or can see, by giving him something he has not earned, perhaps all you have helped him become is a target. Seeing another elevated often brings the eyes of others who suffer. And perhaps in the end, all you have wrought is more pain, and that is my lesson to you. Be careful of charity and kindness, lest you do more harm with open hands than with a clenched fist"
