Thanks to everyone who's been leaving comments and requests for more Band-Maid songs! This has been the most positive reception I've ever gotten for a video! I'm glad the "Maidiacs" are so welcoming and kind!
When I first discovered these amazing ladies four years ago I very soon found out that the fan base is extremely friendly and kind. The fans take after the band who are extremely humble and set a great example. It is so refreshing nowadays.
If you keep adding musical insights and aren't just another "gee whiz wow" reacter you will go far :) Sometimes it will feel like you're repeating yourself, and you might be, but remember that MOST of the viewers follow the bands rather than the reacter so it's really not that big of a drawback. Good luck with your channel! Thank you for doing a video on BAND-MAID!

As a drummer reacting to this I don't know of anybody else has recommended I didn't read through all the comments but you absolutely 100% need to do a song called Freedom the live video of it got a good drum Solo in it
Oh yeah it does 🙂 Fun, solid and sooo perfectly placed, and I think pretty easy compared to much of what she plays. Wincent makes Band-Maidl/Akane signature W-AKN (5B I think) sticks.
Nice reaction. You stated: "I'm so confused right now". Their goal is what you see is not what you get. The Maids surround Akane (the worlds happiest drummer) on the drums to mess with her but she NEVER misses a beat. There's plenty more where that came from. For Akane's longest drum solo on video checkout FREEDOM-LIVE. Also checkout these 3: FROM NOW ON (instrumental), HATE-LIVE and DON'T YOU TELL ME-LIVE. Peace. 6.38
You may be picking up on the fact that LIVE performances from the Maids. That is where they shine. Creative and hard working they bring precision and energy to each "serving". And the fans return that energy and quite frankly Love. Every note Is nfused with Love! The most powerful force in the universe.
5:35 - It's called "Hengao" ("Funny face" in Japanese). They're trying to get the drummer, Akane ("Ah-Kah-Nay"), to mess up but she's just too good. If you want to see Akane kick moar ass, check out Freedom (2020 live) as well as these others: Hate? (Official Live) Shambles (MV) Onset Choose me (MV) Warning! (MV)
Been playing music for over 50 years and we just called it "F'n with the drummer." I love it when these ladies mess with each other showing people that playing music doesnt have to be just a job. Band-Maid rates #1 of all time in my opinion.
That’s amazing! My bandmates used to do that to me too! I love it! And I do have several songs on my list now. I keep a schedule and work through songs twice a week, but I will get to songs like Freedom and Hate? That’s a promise 😁
When they all gather around the drummer they're making faces at her trying to get her to make a mistake during her fastest part of the song... never works. You need to watch Freedom. I'm sure other people will spoil it for you, but TRUST ME, you need to watch their Freedom Official Live.
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and bad-ass musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. The idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
You were confused within tens of seconds, realized in one minute that they were not normal, and felt amazing in two minutes, it was amazing. You don't have to believe me, but they are the best hard rock band in the world right now. You now have a chance to see a historic band. Please continue. Please listen to not only the drummer AKANE but also all the members. Also, their studio songs are great, but they really shine when they perform live.
Seen a few drummers in my time (56)..But Akane has stolen my drum heart. (hence me shouting out "AKANE!!!" at Yokohama Arena!..hehe) She is now my No.1 drummer ever...and all with a beautiful smile. She is pure class!.
Have you checked out Jenna's Dragonforce covers? Hermah Li, their guitarist, is a BIG fan of her - and is such a MAIDIAC he did a hilarious "audition" for them in full 'Bandmaid' costume!
JUST DROPPED 2 DAYS AGO "DON'T YOU TELL ME"OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO FROM YOKOHAMA ARENA! AND "HATE" OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO FROM YOKOHAMA! OVER THE TOP AMAIZING! I CAN NOT OVER SELL BAND-MAID PO! ❤❤❤
You don' realize it yet....but you just heard the best current rock band on the planet. Over 10 years of music with 130 plus songs and not a bad one in there. Being a drummer....Akane will blow your mind...Check out Shambles and From now on. Her technique is so unique !!!! Jimmy Page saw the band and went back stage to compliment Akane's drumming !!!! I sometimes will sit behind my kit and try and play note for note.....and quickly realize I can't. This rhythm section is second to none
What you hear at the beginning is the ending of their song Play. The Ladies finished Play (Of which there is an official live video from this same concert on their channel) then walked back to the pedal boards to reset for Domination. Total time between the 2 songs 6 seconds. That is how tight these Ladies are. They only needed 6 seconds to set up, not just their pedal boards, but to stay in time with their backing track. How the Ladies normally perform live is that they will get counted in by Akane, the drummer, then launch into 3-6 songs depending on how they have set their setlist. But after they play that first section, they will take a brief pause, interact with the audience (MC time) while the next set of 3-6 songs is setup. Including the click and the backing track. After the next set of songs, they will once again have a brief MC time while they wash-rinse-repeat. As their show progresses, they will include a longer MC time after the halfway point, to allow the Ladies to get offstage, to refresh themselves, while Miku the band founder/rhythm guitarist and second lead vocalist will have what is called Omajinai Time, where she interreacts with the audience using call and response, then as the other instrumentalists come back out, they will perform 1-2 songs with Miku on Lead vocals plus 1-2 instrumental songs. Then Saiki the Main lead vocalist comes out and they kick off the next 3-6 songs, wash-rinse-repeat. The Ladies concerts called Okyuji's or servings, will have a setlist of anywhere from 18-25 songs normally. It depends on the Main Lead vocalist, Saiki's, voice, and how strong she is. They almost never perform encores, but they have done a few in the past when Saiki felt her voice was up to it. Last November as the tour finale of their 10 year anniversary tour, they performed 33 songs in an over 3.5 hour performance that was also streamed live world wide. I stayed up until 5 am to watch it myself and I loved every moment of it. I'll leave this first part of an information file about the Ladies here, then add more context after. Band Maid Is; (In order of joining band) Name/Age: Nickname: Position: Miku Kobato Small Pigeon/ Band Founder, Secondary Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitarist, Main Lyricist, Age: 32 Koba/Kuruppo/ Backing Vocals, Backing Tracks, Arrangements 10/21/91 Cluppo Kanami Tono Princess/ Lead Guitarist, Primary Composer, Backing Vocals, Keyboards, Backing Tracks Age: 32 Kanamincho/ Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Arrangements 9/28/91 Mincho Akane Hirose Gorilla/ Drums, Percussion, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks, Age: 33 Ah-Chan Arrangements 12/14/90 MISA Barefoot Assassin/ 5 String Bass Guitar, Backing Vocals on Backing Tracks, Backing Tracks Age: 31 MISA-MISA-MISA Arrangements 10/15/92 Saiki Atsumi Ice Queen/ Primary Lead Vocalist, Backing Vocals, Lyricist, Backing Vocals on Backing Age: 30 Sai-Chan/ Tracks, Backing tracks, Arrangements 2/8/94 Sensei (Teacher) Now for more context. Band-Maid is probably one of, if not THE Best Live bands currently touring. From their sound to their full performance, they LIVE for their live performances. The smiles on their faces are real, and they enjoy performing for their "Masters and Princesses" as they call their fans. And many other drummers have problems trying to copy Akane's drum patterns. Especially her double pedal patterns. And this live version is just ONE of the Alternate Versions of Domination. There are 2 other versions, the original without the extended breakdown/bridge section, and the one also without the extended section but an extended guitar intro. These Ladies CONSTANTLY rework their songs for live performances, to give their fans a better performance. And Domination isn't the only song with an alternate version. Play, the song which preceded Domination at this concert has 3 alternates, Freedom has 2 alternates, Anemone has 4 alternates including an acoustic, Puzzle has 2 alternates including an acoustic, and the list goes on. Including all the alternate versions, the Ladies have a discography of almost 200 songs. Not including alternate versions, their discography is still over 130+ songs. So don't be surprised if you get a request for a song you may have already reacted to, but the request is a specific alternate version you HAVEN'T reacted to. Then be prepared to get your mind blown.
Great react! Akane is my favorite drummer and was even the inspiration for me to get off my butt and finally buy a kit and start learning properly. In 2016 Jimmy Page just happened to see a Band-Maid concert and insisted on going backstage and meeting the drummer. He told her she was the reincarnation of John Bonham. Check out Freedom (live) next for sure. Also the confusion is normal and Miku, the band founder who had the idea while working in a maid cafe, calls it "the gap". Your brain is supposed to not let these two things mix but they do.
Their drummer is a true beast, the other ladies call her Gorilla, she can play a 1 1/2 hour set at that tempo, and you will never here her say she cant keep up or drive the song, all 5 of these ladies are top tier musicians, they been together 10 yrs with the same line up, and none of this rock star ego crap about 1 or 2 members carrying the band, They are arguably the best hard rock band going right now
Great reaction. Welcome to Band-Maid and their awesome music. Your initial impression is an almost universal one where there is first confusion followed by the customary wow factor. The Maids call this the "Gap" reaction where what you see is not what you get, it is intentional, and they always find this humorous in a good way. All the members are elite musicians as you can see and have all been together for 10 years recording over 120 great original songs. They have had their music in several Anime productions and were invited to have a cameo appearance in the Netflix movie "Kate." Band-Maid is exceptionally dynamic live, and they have toured the US, Mexico, Europe and the Far East to sold out shows. Their drummer, Akane Hirose, is a powerhouse whose nickname is "gorilla" for her hard-hitting yet intricate drumming skills. Fun fact, she loves eating bananas for an energy boost during their shows.
I loved you saying, "I'm so confused!" Welcome to "The Gap," which is the band founder's concept that is intended to create exactly that response in question. I'm glad you like them. Great reaction! Rock on!
In my seventies and I am absolutely smitten with this band. They are so good. Definitely check out their performance of "Hate?" from the Yokohama Arena that was posted just a few days ago, "Freedom" has a great drum solo, but it is on the video from covid times, made as a gift to their fans, On it are two incredible songs on one video - "Manners" and "Black Hole." Great reaction, not just because you liked the music, but because you had solid reasons and measures in place to evaluate what you heard. So many others don't and just go "yeah I liked it" or "It's Ok" with no real reasons for it. Some even judge them because of the maid thing. There is a reason for the maid outfits, but it is a bit complicated to get into in this space. Anyway, I loved your reaction and thank you for taking the time to listen with us.
Welcome to the world of Band-Maid. These ladies are gloriously happy, insanely talented, and incredibly tight knit both on and off stage. They are arguably one of the best rock groups around today. Check out their latest video drop, Hate? at Yokohama Arena (official live video). And if you want to see an extended drum solo, Freedom (official live video) is a must. Their catalogue of songs run deep and wide. They typically blend several genres into a song, and will certainly please the most discriminating ears. Looking forward to more Band-Maid reactions in the near future. Cheers!
The maidiacs welcome you onboard! There's a drum cam video of Akane on the song Warning (I believe) Speaking of guitar/bass solo, they have an epic battle in one of their latest MVs from Yokohama Live
Welcome to the wonderful world of Band-Maid. Best overall band I've heard in decades. That noodling at the start is actually the last cord ringing out of the previous song "Play" at this concert. It's also a killer live video and definitely worth checking out. I think you are going to really like this band. Akane's creative and tasteful use of double kicks is always such a treat. Enjoy the ride. I know I have.
Good point on the double-kick drumming. Many metal bands just use it at a steady rate, almost like a pad, which gets boring fast. Akane is constantly switching up the double-kick patterns, or using it as accent. or part of a fill, which is so much more creative and musically satisfying.
Here is the "drummer only" cam on their song "warning" th-cam.com/video/jJ1U-yMFKlI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xMl8ANncSdI3I8EP And "Sense" th-cam.com/video/JVDAWcVWiBI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=K-hSl83xFBHoC_CW
I love your observations and they align with mine. The drum solo isn't complex, instead it is _right_. This is a wonderful thing about Band-Maid, they work as a team and write the parts that serve the song and each other, every time. I also love your surprise at the sounds coming out of women dressed in maid costumes, because I love the walls they're breaking down. Discovering Band-Maid is a great way to celebrate International Women's Day!
That was a great reaction and really enjoyed how you broke down Akane's drumming.(her nickname is the gorilla and usually has bananas hidden around for a burst of energy )....They girls gathered around her to make funny faces to try and mess up her timing ....lol. They just dropped a new live video from their 10th anniversary tour call "Hate? " and i think you'll enjoy this one also.
The other day, I watched a reactor react to this song ( Victory Cast ), and he said the whole solo section was " off the rails, " it didn't fit the song & they were just showing off unneedlessly. I was dumbfounded!!! 😏♥️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘So, thank you for a sane reaction !
'I'm so confused, we're getting an epic rock song from a group of women dressed in maid costumes' - welcome to the band 😉 The founder Miku calls that 'the gap' (between look & sound). Lotsa great rock going on outside of Murica IMO - the best rock band in the world right now! I suggest these BM songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live), Puzzle (live), Hate (live) & Don't You Tell (live) Was fortunate enough to see them play live twice in the past few years. They played for round 2 hours each time. Best 2 concerts I've ever been to! ♥
Welcome to Band-Maid. This Song was 22 of 23 of the Concert. The Energy of these Girls is just incredible. They relased 2 new Live Videos from their Yokohama Concert in November 2023. Don´t you Tell ME and the Song Hate? This Show was 3 1/2 + Hours long and they performed 33 Songs. Just Insane. For a longer Drum Solo check out Freedom Live for some prog Stuff Onset Live, an Instrumental. On the other Hand you can´t go wrong with any Song of them. They are all good .
Just the tip of the iceberg man. Just like Ado, they have many many great songs and none of them exactly the same but you can still tell it's Band-Maid.
Thanks, that was a great reaction to my favorite rock band - If you like to focus on the insanity of the drumming, I ultimately recommend their full album „Unseen World“ and their actual EP „Unleash!!!!!“.
Love it when musicians give insight into the music. You will get many songs recommended, for various reasons. That is because Band Maid has a wide and diverse catalog. Over 120 songs and not a single poor example. Not hyperbole. A good taste of their range is the 2 songs in 1 video of Manners, and Black Hole. Manners, which Band Maid thinks is their core sound, is classic bluesy rock. Black Hole is when they want to get a little crazy.
Great work, C&C! I'm a former drummer and all I can say is Akane is on my Mt. Rushmore. She's incredibly creative. I've legit. never heard anyone play like her, and I'm a zillion years old. For me, Band-Maid is the best, most complete band I've seen or heard. Enjoy the journey! It's a GREAT one! 🕊
Watch their newest video HATE? and you'll find out how much they've improved just a few years later. Band Maid improves constantly. They don't have a bad song.
Best rock band on the planet today and the ones who made me love music again after decades of mostly meh music out there in my opinion. Seen them in concert twice and both were the best events I have ever been to.

Thanks for reacting to our fave band! There are so many more awaiting for you to discover
Band Maid is the best thing going hands down.... they have several new videos from the Yokohama finale concert on their channel from Nov of 23.... just hands down the best...
I notice that a lot of the best reactions to Band-Maid are from musicians. This combination has taught me to listen more critically and to enjoy music on a deeper level than I did before discovering B-M.
Old rock fan here...Band Maid is the band that made me realize I needed to look for female bands from other countries to find what has seemed lacking in rock for so long as far as my ears are concerned, and Domination was their song that hooked me. Japan in particular has so many such bands. If you have not seen them, Lovebites is another band you would probably enjoy. Songs like Holy War, Swan Song (with the Chopin intro), Frozen Serenade... all worth listening to. And then there is my most recent obsession, The Warning, which is a trio of sisters from Mexico. Their drummer Pau recently won Drumeo's rock drummer of the year, so as a drummer yourself, it would be criminal for you to miss them. Their song Evolve from the MTV VMAs is a good place to start with them...
Funny story of the guitarists standing around the drummer. They all are making funny faces at her to throw her off, Akane, the drummer never misses a beat and just keeps smiling.
The "noodling at the start" was actually the end of the previous song. BAND MAID does 3+ hours of concert without slowing down. They move from one song straight into another.
Thanks for reacting to the greatest hard rock band in the world. Akane, the drummer, is just a beast and the happiest drummer in the world. If you want a longer drum solo you have to see the live video for "Freedom". Also the drumming is epic on Blooming, Warning, YOLO, and pretty much everything else.
Greatvreaction. Band Maid are one of the best bans I have ever heard. If you want to geek.out on Akane's drumming, listen to Manners/Black hole live. Some of her drumming on Black Hole is jaw dropping in my humble opinion. Rock on 🤘
Keep going! Lots of great live Band-Maid videos. They recently released three killer videos from their epic 10th year anniversary show in Yokohama Area in Japan.
Welcome new master to the world of Band Maid!❤🎉 🤘🏽 Thank you for a fun reaction As a drummer, you’re going to get “Freedom” recommended because it has a brief drum solo. However, Akane’s most creative drumming is in many different songs. She doesn’t like to repeat her fills. She plays a ton of notes, really fast, very accurately, on a standard kit. And she smiles nonstop while she does it. Songs from the Maids for musicians and studio nerds: “Without Holding Back,” “From Now On,” “Onset,” all instrumental tracks. “Onset” has a nice live version. Songs I recommend to drummers? 1) “Warning!” 2) “DICE” 3) “Shambles” My friend, you have opened a magic window into a beautiful musical world dominated by five little Japanese ladies in maid dresses
What you are experiencing the "Gap" which is purposefully done by the band and the concept originating with the rhythm guitarist and founder. They are top notch musicians and like many Japanese groups they can can blend styles and genres seemingly at will. They are my favorite (and at times only) band on my playlist these days. Band Maid, a lot to love in the music and they are a great group of individuals as well. The first two albums were more "pop" due to the label having creative control over writing, etc. the later albums show an amazing progression. This performance is more of the mid-journey of Band Maid. The studio recording are excellent in themselves but they are definitely a live band that should not be missed! Band Maid forever!!!!!
If this is the first experience with band maid then you are in for quite a ride … they have an epic catalog… not all might be to your liking but these ladies are the real deal … saw them in Philly a little over a year ago … was epic .. like everyone is saying as a drummer listen to Freedom live next … you’re hooked now, no getting out … enjoy!!
Congrats on finding the best hard rock band on the planet. You're gonna love them all, but being a drummer, what you'll notice is that in a lot of songs where the drummer would repeat a pattern for 4 or 8 bars, she doesn't - she'll accent where you least expect it, and only once - then the next measure is different. She's very creative. And the band is so much fun dude, I've seen them 3 times and it's an EXPERIENCE and if you're in the crowd you're part of it.
The Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in the world currently. Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila & Hanabie are incredibe + there are others. Dive deeper into the Japanese music scene, you won't be disappointed.
Yep, and my personal favorites (aside from the maids, who are my all time favorite band after Pink Floyd), I really like Gacharic Spin, Glim Spanky and Tricot. Japan is absolutely destroying everyone else right now. And then there's Hiromi in the jazz scene, and drummer virtuoso Senri Kawaguchi.
And a thing about the maid outfits, Frodo: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!
As folks are saying...watch "freedom" live. The drum solo will blow you away. There is nothing quite like BandMaid live. The energy and joy they bring is absolutely infectious.
@@GaryHolloway-810 hickory dickory doc sticks!...hehehe..With added Akane cat motif....If I'd stayed another week in the hotel I was in last in Akihabara, I could have meet Akane in person!...She made a personal appearence at a music shop just a few meters from the hotel!😳...Instead I was stuck in Helsinki!😭
@@GaryHolloway-810 Saw a nasty thing on a LIVE webcam in Japan this morn..A father a daughter it looked like..Seem to have had a spat..and the girl runs down on to the rail tracks..and walks along the line...the father walks alongside the track then jumps the fence and grabs her. After getting her off the tracks she tries to walk away. He grabs her and tries to drag her..but she resists and then throws her glasses? on the floor and crouched down. Her father then kicked her!!..Possibly in the face!..They stay like that for a min or so..then he drags her back up and down the street...Not nice.
@@GaryHolloway-810 Well...I got them at the airport..so..you'd still got them...But I'm sure you wouldn't of minded missing out..if I got to meet Akane in person!...Would have been SWEET!!..I could have run back to the hotel and got her to autograph some of my merch!.
I’m sure many have recommended you check out the song “freedom live “ I agree with them completely. Band- Maid reactions should always be live. They prove over and over, that you don’t need to reinvent the wheel something simple played to perfection can sound absolutely amazing.
That was fun. Thanks for the reaction. Akane (drummer) really is a monster. They do a good job recording her on stage but the mix from her kit in the studio is even better (duh). Check out the recent studio MVs for From Now On and Shambles. Both really highlight her play.
New sub here! Welcome to the World Domination of Band Maid! Since you are a drummer, I would highly recommend "Warning" MV (pop punk feel with killer drum fills), the live double "Manners" and "Black Hole" (iconic contrasts in styles), and "The Dragon Cries" (one of their least popular, but has a 60's Hendrix vibe). Enjoy the ride!
Since you're a drummer you should do their only song with a full drum solo, 'Freedom' LIVE. She's like Ringo. She just doesn't do a lot of solos. They're all virtuoso players, with the exception of Miku who had never played guitar when the band started, but after 10 years she's very good indeed. But I would put Akane against any drummer in the world. Her patterns and fills are so creative, and they never repeat, unless it's to set up an expectation that she's going to break on the third go around. You can watch other drummers channels where they are just gobsmacked by her playing. She and bassist MISA met before BAND-MAID at the Tokyo School Of Music, so they make an amazingly psychic Rhythm Section. She will often say to composer and lead guitarist, Kanami about the drum parts on the demos, "This drum part cannot be played by a human being". But she always pulls a rabbit out of her tiny hat and play something that works. The reason they gather around her and make faces at her during the hard part to see if they can make her laugh and f*ck up. Not a chance! And this is just scratching the s surface. They have so many different kinds of songs, they're like a Genre Jukebox.
Welcome, Steelfrodo. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 190 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: th-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/w-d-xo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Shambles, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): th-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/w-d-xo.html) And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts: ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” th-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/w-d-xo.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” th-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/w-d-xo.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” th-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/w-d-xo.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. “P and D⁴” Photo Collage videos at www.youtube.com/@PinDakaPanic810 And some of the better quality fan videos are excellent. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. Their 10th Anniversary Tour concluded at Japan’s 17,000 seat Yokohama Arena on Nov. 26, 2023 and in Hong Kong Dec. 21! And their latest 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR SPIN OFF concert at KT ZEPP YOKOHAMA on February 22, 2024, where they played songs not performed at the 10th anniversary tour final at Yokohama Arena, was SOLD OUT! The Maids are one of the hardest working super groups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids, and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!
Are you seeing he's a Hobbit, Tom? Tho he's related to Frodo, Steelfrodo actually rents a room at the Prancing Pony inn in Bree. rumours are after a few flagons of ale he starts singing a song called "See my hairy foot", the surprise being he actually shows people something else entirely.🤣
This is from about 3-4 years ago. They just finished their 10th anniversary tour with a concert at Yokohama arena and have released 3 live videos from that concert so far. They have roughly 140 songs and 40 or so up on their YT channel. Any you do will be wonderful. Just realize they perform in many genres, sometimes within the same song, but all are written and performed very well and will put a smile on your face. Welcome to the Band-Maid pigeon-hole. Since you are a drummer try Freedom Live, from the same concert, next.
You obviously HAVE to listen to "Freedom" from the same concert. It has a serious drum solo. You'll like it. Also recommend "From Now On" and "Without Holding Back" -- both instrumentals with decent drum work.
If you want to go in steps, I suggest "Freedom", it has an excellent drum solo, if you want to go directly to the insane, "Hate" or "From now on" are practically 4 minutes of drum solo :D
Yuuuuuuup! And that whiplash you’re experiencing between the costumes and the sound is exactly Kobato’s design, and Saiki had the same reaction at first, but that collision between kawaii and pulverizing rock somehow works. I mean, Kiss wore makeup, right?
The confusion is The Gap. It is what Miku intended when she formed the band. She had worked in a maid cafe and thought it would be interesting to juxtapose performers dressed as cafe maids playing kick-ass prog hard rock. She got her wish - although it took some convincing to get the other Maids to actually first wear the costumes. Over the years, the outfits have been streamlined to the wishes of what each Maid was comfortable to wear - particularly Misa (all black pants suit, no hat, and barefoot), Saiki (her elegant full-length black dress with the blue rose in her hair) and Akane (who got rid of the hat and usually plays in silk shorts ... quite frankly much better for the virtuoso work she does on the drums). Maidiacs don't focus on the outfits - we focus on the incredible music and peerless talent of what is, quite frankly, the best rock band on the planet.
Welcome to the pigeonhole, po! Best rock band on the planet! They just dropped live performances of Unleash!!!!!, Don't You Tell Me and Hate? from the final show of their 10 year anniversary tour.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘

It's always again nice to see when someone is already full of praise before the actually 'interesting' part of the song. 🤭 But believe me, this is nothing yet! For many, these 5 ladies are quite rightly at the very top of the food chain when it comes to the best hard-rock of our time. And yes, we are talking about 5 young ladies in maid costumes. 😂 Greetings from Germany and welcome to the 'pigeon-hole' of Band-Maid po! :) _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan? The band is call "Lovebites" They all The Beautiful Queens Metal band right now in the earth. They are really really World class musicians. Phenomenal. And they have a lot die hard fans too. The song is "The hammer of wrath" Hope you check out, and can enjoy it too. Big thanks🙏
I created this account because the Maidiacs were so fun and I wanted to play too! That was about 3 years ago now.

As a drummer reacting to this I don't know of anybody else has recommended I didn't read through all the comments but you absolutely 100% need to do a song called Freedom the live video of it got a good drum Solo in it
Freedom has a drum solo.
Ditto!
Yes. IMHO the best hard rock band today.
5:35 - It's called "Hengao" ("Funny face" in Japanese). They're trying to get the drummer, Akane ("Ah-Kah-Nay"), to mess up but she's just too good. If you want to see Akane kick moar ass, check out Freedom (2020 live) as well as these others:
Hate? (Official Live)
Shambles (MV)

Warning!
@@coversandcommentary The official live version of Hate is sooooooo good.
When they all gather around the drummer they're making faces at her trying to get her to make a mistake during her fastest part of the song... never works.
You need to watch Freedom. I'm sure other people will spoil it for you, but TRUST ME, you need to watch their Freedom Official Live.
Welcome to the world of BAND-MAID! The best band in the world.
You have only seen 56 drummers Bodney? 😄
@@Davey-Boyd Don't want to over do it Davey..I'm picky!...hehe
@@Bodneyblue After Akane there is no need to see any more drummers lol! She has stolen my heart too!
Have you checked out Jenna's Dragonforce covers?
Hermah Li, their guitarist, is a BIG fan of her - and is such a MAIDIAC he did a hilarious "audition" for them in full 'Bandmaid' costume!

‼️‼️‼️FREEDOM FREEDOM FREEDOM FREEDOM‼️‼️‼️ DRUM SOLO ALERT‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
You don' realize it yet....but you just heard the best current rock band on the planet. Over 10 years of music with 130 plus songs and not
a bad one in there. Being a drummer....Akane will blow your mind...Check out Shambles and From now on. Her technique is so unique !!!!
Jimmy Page saw the band and went back stage to compliment Akane's drumming !!!! I sometimes will sit behind my kit and try and play
note for note.....and quickly realize I can't.

Now for more context.
You can see the exact moment he fell in love.
Also in one of the other concert vids some described Akane, the drummer, as "an absolute dynamo".
Wait'll you hear Freedom live with the longer drum solo.
Rock on!

I saw them in Seattle in Oct 2022. Sounded just like that. Super professional.
There's a drum cam video of Akane on the song Warning (I believe)
Speaking of guitar/bass solo, they have an epic battle in one of their latest MVs from Yokohama Live
Here is the "drummer only" cam on their song "warning"

I saw that. One of the few reactors who didn't get a like. I didn't give him a dislike, but I didn't give him a like.
He does say some dumb shit sometimes.
I gave him a dislike. These solos were super short.
'I'm so confused, we're getting an epic rock song from a group of women dressed in maid costumes' - welcome to the band 😉
The founder Miku calls that 'the gap' (between look & sound). Lotsa great rock going on outside of Murica
IMO - the best rock band in the world right now! I suggest these BM songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live), Puzzle (live), Hate (live) & Don't You Tell (live)
Was fortunate enough to see them play live twice in the past few years. They played for round 2 hours each time. Best 2 concerts I've ever been to! ♥
I absolutely agree but you left out play . I love play😂
Say hello, hello, hello to the best damn rock band on the planet 🤘✌
Welcome to Band-Maid. This Song was 22 of 23 of the Concert. The Energy of these Girls is just incredible. They relased 2 new Live Videos from their Yokohama Concert in November 2023.
Don´t you Tell ME and the Song Hate? This Show was 3 1/2 + Hours long and they performed 33 Songs. Just Insane. For a longer Drum Solo check out Freedom Live for some prog Stuff Onset Live, an Instrumental. On the other Hand you can´t go wrong with any Song of them. They are all good .
Correction, three songs, you missed Unleash!!!!
But you are right, there are no bad Band-Maid songs. Which is ridiculous.
BAND-MAID are the worlds best panacea.🤗
And that is a fact.
💯% agree 🤙🏽
Warning: it's extremely addictive.
@@Parker-- And the only side-effect is euphoria :)
Pan of what? Great, Gary is cooking now :p .
BAND-MAID Forever!
BAND-MAID / from now on (Official Music Video) - I highly recommend watching this video - it's a must for a musician!
AKANE can reach 220 bpm and all with a SMILE on her face.😁 Welcome to BAND-MAID.
I think you meant 220. :)
@@tinyhato wow cheers I'm so used to writing,120 plus songs haha forgive me I just got up for work 4am. Edit time 😁😁
Best rock band on the planet today and the ones who made me love music again after decades of mostly meh music out there in my opinion. Seen them in concert twice and both were the best events I have ever been to.
Thanks for reacting to our fave band! There are so many more awaiting for you to discover
You've not seen anything yet. Check out their latest official live drop of Hate.
AKANE (drummer) on “Hate?” is also amazing.
MISA!!! MISA!!! MISA!!! 🥃🥃🥃 Badass Bass Assassin and Band-Maid are the best Hard Rock band in the world right now in my opinion 🤙🏽
And my opinion. Other opinions are available....but wrong.😏
@@GaryHolloway-810 I agree :)
It's rare they put that extended middle part in their show. Usually they stick to the short studio version. This version is extra special.
Also another band the it's gonna blow your mind with the drums is "Lovebites"
Greatvreaction. Band Maid are one of the best bans I have ever heard. If you want to geek.out on Akane's drumming, listen to Manners/Black hole live. Some of her drumming on Black Hole is jaw dropping in my humble opinion. Rock on 🤘
Keep going! Lots of great live Band-Maid videos. They recently released three killer videos from their epic 10th year anniversary show in Yokohama Area in Japan.
Saiki (the lead vocal) sings "Our pulses race together" after the break down and solo's.
How apt.
Band-Maid = Joy in the form of awesome rock music.
Welcome new master to the world of Band Maid!❤🎉 🤘🏽
Thank you for a fun reaction
As a drummer, you’re going to get “Freedom” recommended because it has a brief drum solo. However, Akane’s most creative drumming is in many different songs.
She doesn’t like to repeat her fills. She plays a ton of notes, really fast, very accurately, on a standard kit. And she smiles nonstop while she does it.
Songs from the Maids for musicians and studio nerds:
“Without Holding Back,” “From Now On,” “Onset,” all instrumental tracks. “Onset” has a nice live version.
Songs I recommend to drummers?
1) “Warning!”
2) “DICE”
3) “Shambles”
My friend, you have opened a magic window into a beautiful musical world dominated by five little Japanese ladies in maid dresses
The GAP in full effect. Thank you for reacting to BAND-MAID.
Great reaction!! Welcome to Band Maid !
I will never get sick of watching musicians react to my favorite band for the first time.
Thanks so much great reaction.
This band makes me happy every time !
TAMA STAR Bubinga Custom in red with gold flaked laminated in. Lugwig Black Beauty Snare. Zildjian Cymbals. EVANS Heads. Wincent Sticks.

I’m sure many have recommended you check out the song “freedom live “ I agree with them completely. Band- Maid reactions should always be live. They prove over and over, that you don’t need to reinvent the wheel something simple played to perfection can sound absolutely amazing.
All else pales next to Akane's extended drum solo at Yokohama Arena. The Bluray comes out soon.
That was fun. Thanks for the reaction. Akane (drummer) really is a monster. They do a good job recording her on stage but the mix from her kit in the studio is even better (duh). Check out the recent studio MVs for From Now On and Shambles. Both really highlight her play.
Akane's drums are like a drum and flute corps resounding on a battlefield. courage. Forward. 🥁🎀
Forward? Love that song...
Don't let the outfit fool you,They are no joke.
THEIR BEST SONG EVER❤❤❤❤❤
Just the tip of the iceberg mate! As a drummer myself, Akane has very quickly become one of my favourites. She’s awesome!
(from their own Anime MV (series?)): th-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/w-d-xo.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. th-cam.com/users/BANDMAID
Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYU-JI concerts:

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “StarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies.

The Maids SOLD OUT 2023 US & Mexico tour wrapped up and was a fantastic success. And so many great live fancams to watch! Their playing and antics were as fresh and fun to experience from first show to last. BRAVO Band-Maid!!!!! In addition, their Japan tour finished up with 13 concerts, AND they’re writing and recording for their new album.
@@GaryHolloway-810 Exactly what I was thinking, Gary, but was too gracious to say.👣😇
Congratulations on discovering the #1 band in the world today! Enjoy the ride!! 🎶🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥🙂🕊
They are called "an impossibly hard-rocking maid band" for a reason.
My favourite rhythm section. They are the reason for my fandom.
The most complex thing about bamd maid is how "it works so well". Plus all the other complex stuff they do
Oh, this was #20 of 22 in that show.
