      @Andrew Calhoun The 2003 could’ve been built in 2002 but is marked as a 2003 model. What he said in the video doesn’t make a difference, it is still a 2003 vs a 2004 and there is a difference between those model year catalytic converters.

    For those who are having an issue hearing the difference it's little touches here and there. Straight pipe is technically more messy idle and deeper tone. And the X pipe you can hear the wubs at idle you can hear left right left right. Unlike the straight pipe. X pipe also had more/better crackling/back pressure compared to the straight pipe. Cleaner vs deeper and yes there is a performance gain from X pipe.

      I agree. These guys have pipes that are straight. Just not a real straight pipe set up. Straight pipe as it sounds is a pipe going straight from the engine without a cat a muffler or a resonator on the pipe. Trucks sound good. Just not a straight pipe set up.

      @@nchs4592 straight pipe definition. Pipe goes from engine straight without restrictions to the rear. The pipe doesn't need to be straight. The pipe just needs to be free of CATS, MUFFLERS, and Resonators. I hope this is clear. I dislike people calling it straight pipe with all the goodies still attached. Personally. I like a resonator to change the sound. So i would never define my set up as straight piped. Please keep this in mind.

    • @OddTimeMan
      @OddTimeMan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MJBclassics X-pipes and H-pipes have a smoother sound than true duals do because of the exhaust scavenging. True duals have two pipes that don't connect at all, which gives it a raspy sound because there's no exhaust scavenging. Old muscle cars had true duals, which helped give them their unique sound.

      Generally wont change much in the end, mostly just shifts the power curve. If youve got a modded engine and youre trying to win races, an X or H will be "faster," but, not by a ton. If you have a stock engine or just some minor bolt-ons, the different will be so small you wont notice it and anyone who does is literally just imagining things.

    Well, I'm settled, I'm doing a straight pipe with x-pipe on my car, but for the tips, I'm probably going have them come out as a y on each side

    Mine before x pipe was loud then after x pipe only about 1/2 as loud but now it has a deeper tone sounds really good but wish it was louder. May change mufflers or remove them all together.

    Cant tell much of a difference but from my experience the xpipe takes out alot of the rasp and adds a clean mellow sound

    • @808G8GT
      @808G8GT 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      blown5.3 x pipes have rasp also. Hpipe for the win in the sound category, no rasp, Deep tone. Only 1-2hp less than xpipe. Proven fact!!

    Not bad, X pipe sounds a bit smoother. I’m not a fan of raspy popping exhaust. To me just sounds like it has no HP. I like loud and smooth, like the engine has some HP and the amount of exhaust air can fill and pressurize the exhaust system.
