Well, this is old news if you would listen to his smodcast with Scott Mosier. Harvey was stealing money from them. Adam Carolla had the same issue with his first film. The reason he came down unfortunately wasn’t his sexscapades but him screwing over too many people. He just pissed off too many people. He isn’t alone. Others just know how to take care of the right people better
Miramax owned the 1990’s with all the fantastic films they put out. From what I hear and read about Harvey, I don’t understand why he was part of it- meaning he just doesn’t seem the movie fan type. He’s more like a loud seedy gangster really. But Kevin Smith standing up to him shows that he was a basic bully. He’ll be an asshole until you confront him.
I like Kevin Smith and his movies but the thing I enjoyed most of all is his diary, "My Boring Ass Life" (very appropriate title, btw). That book is a perfect example of why we should NEVER listen to stars when they try to tell us how we should or should not live our lives.
@Stellvia Hoenheim how is that Kevin's fault? If I tell a dude at work to fuck off and he goes home and beats his wife is it my fault for making him angry? Nope.
David James there was some movie when the lead actress was supposed to be skinny dipping I believe it and she had either agreed and then backed out or had just said no. So he hired a body double of the scene that looked nothing like her and she saw the double and was shocked so did the the scene. I think that’s how the story went but I’m not to sure.
@@c17sam90 Oh! I see what you mean. Yeah, Joanne Whalley was the lead, and had agreed to do a nude dance by a pool. But her then husband Val Kilmer turned up and talked her out of it. So, the dir asked one of the extras, who looked a bit like Whalley, and was a burlesque dancer, so didn't mind the nudity. Whalley didn't film that, so it is the double who appears in the film. Weinstein wasn't around then I believe. Whalley apparently wasn't happy with the double's larger body to hers.
Kevin Smith has insight and understanding. His take on Harvey Weinstein was spot on and an early warning, for other reasons, but relevant. His stint on dinner for five was also pure pouring out of honest and super quick brilliance. Hope you are well Kevin. Your biggest Australian fan. Mark Wegner - Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺
i think most actors/directors tend to give the same interview over and over (since they usually get the same questions over and over), but it's just more obvious now with internet algorithms.. there have always been the standard junkets to promote a film (star sits in hotel room for 10 hours while a hundred brainless entertainment reporters come through a revolving door asking the same five mind-numblingly unimaginative questions), but now we watch one interview with (insert star here) and the youtube algorithm immediately launches into autoplay of a hundred more vids with them, so we just notice the repetition more now..
@@girliboi that's fair. But Kevin's Smith how schtick is the goes to cons or whatever and tells his same name stories over again. Prince, cop out, Superman and tusk/ red state. And for deep cuts his Jon lovitz stories from his old podcast. He never ever once told a Harvey Weinstein story.

Supposedly after not speaking for over ten years Harvey called Kevin out of the blue with promises of an anniversary Dogma issue. A week later the shit broke about him & of course nothing materialized. After speaking to that guy John, Harvey's old PA, found out he was calling everyone to get a read on what they knew. Shitbag till the end.
I love that Harvey had such a high sense of self importance, now he’s fearing for his life in a maximum security prison. Hopefully receiving beatings regularly 😊
If you think Weinstein is being kept anywhere where he can be hurt by general population, that's not how prison works for celebrities. Rapists in general aren't kept with other inmates for the most part let alone someone like Weinstein
Regardless of whether he’s protected in prison or not, the true punishment for him is that his reputation as a human being is completely destroyed for the rest of his life. Not just in Hollywood, basically worldwide. His name has become synonymous with rape and cowardice.
Weirdly, I heard Mr Smith channelling a lot of Robert Downey Jr's "Iron Man," here. You can sense it in the tone and the frankness... I mean, Kevin Smith is Kevin Smith, but compared to some of the key Tony Stark moments? The boldness is similar.
That is a very dangerous line. They are only cowards when facing someone more powerful than them. Kevin was brave because he had LESS power. He knew there was risk, but he did it anyway.
I find it unbelievable that John/Jon, who was Harvey's assistant, didn't know that Harvey is who he is. And that nothing was ever said to Kevin, Ben, Matt, etc.
Very disturbing to realize later that this would be a behavioral indicator of much worse behavior. Makes you think about other people who act the same way and what other disgusting things they are doing. The FBI calls it profiling, and it is eerily accurate.
Yep, page one of the FBI psych profiling manual reads: 'If someone talks during a film screening, it is a strong indicator that they are a serial rapist.'
Actually, FBI profiling has never lead to a single successful arrest/conviction. Not one. It's widely considered nonsense by professional psychologists.
@@WalterLiddy That is patently untrue, FBI profiling has lead to a number of arrests; what is disputed is how useful it is for law enforcement and how accurate its profiling relative to other methods. It's sad when our heroes disappoint...it's even sadder when we accept it.
Heroes? Na, bro. You're coming at it from the wrong perspective. Kevin Smith is the hero. And our hero just told the villain (Harvey Weinstein) to shut the fuck up!
Cool story brah
Miramax owned the 1990’s with all the fantastic films they put out. From what I hear and read about Harvey, I don’t understand why he was part of it- meaning he just doesn’t seem the movie fan type. He’s more like a loud seedy gangster really.
But Kevin Smith standing up to him shows that he was a basic bully. He’ll be an asshole until you confront him.
Wait... Kevin told a story in less than 6 minutes?
Bruh it felt like 5 years
Right? That’s strange
🤣🤣🤣
I’m betting this was a digression in a much larger story
Notice that the video stopped at what seemed like a breath. I'm sure Kevin kept going.
It is difficult to stand up to a bully.
I like Kevin Smith and his movies but the thing I enjoyed most of all is his diary, "My Boring Ass Life" (very appropriate title, btw). That book is a perfect example of why we should NEVER listen to stars when they try to tell us how we should or should not live our lives.
Im reading it atm.😂😂
This absolutely applies to politics too. A movie star does not know politics better than you or I, simply because they're a fucking rich actor.
@@Joe_P So why get upset over it?
@@funoff3207 why make an upset comment to me about it? What kind of question is that?
Most people that act like that are always stunned that someone finally talks back. They usually stop. They never ever get called out.

If you hear the clerks 2 commentary you find out Weinstein was obsessed with the Pillow Pants scene
I was reading about the film Scandal (1989), which he produced and his only demand was for more sex and nudity in it.
David James is that the swimming pool story with the bad body double ?
@@c17sam90 Swimming Pool? No. What were you thinking of?
Anyone else immediately thinks of that Entourage episode where they go to Sundance?
Exactly
They say The guy in Entourage is actually based off of Harvey Weinstein

James Cameron - "Fucking Harvey.."

And now he’s in prison for the rest of his life.
Or a couple of years.
He’s out now.
Kevin Smith whole thing was he tells the same stories over and over. He never once told this story before.
i think most actors/directors tend to give the same interview over and over (since they usually get the same questions over and over), but it's just more obvious now with internet algorithms.. there have always been the standard junkets to promote a film (star sits in hotel room for 10 hours while a hundred brainless entertainment reporters come through a revolving door asking the same five mind-numblingly unimaginative questions), but now we watch one interview with (insert star here) and the youtube algorithm immediately launches into autoplay of a hundred more vids with them, so we just notice the repetition more now..

I love that Harvey had such a high sense of self importance, now he’s fearing for his life in a maximum security prison. Hopefully receiving beatings regularly 😊
If you think Weinstein is being kept anywhere where he can be hurt by general population, that's not how prison works for celebrities.
Rapists in general aren't kept with other inmates for the most part let alone someone like Weinstein
yes yes locke him in ye olde dungeon, rehabilitation should only be for criminals we deem worthy, the rest are chaff and are disposable, right?
Regardless of whether he’s protected in prison or not, the true punishment for him is that his reputation as a human being is completely destroyed for the rest of his life.
Not just in Hollywood, basically worldwide. His name has become synonymous with rape and cowardice.
Red State was a good movie. Kevin Smith is an amazing screenwriter. Even his comedies feel so real and have an ability to lure you in 🙏👍
Weirdly, I heard Mr Smith channelling a lot of Robert Downey Jr's "Iron Man," here. You can sense it in the tone and the frankness...
I mean, Kevin Smith is Kevin Smith, but compared to some of the key Tony Stark moments? The boldness is similar.
I'm so glad Kevin Smith told Weinstein off! I wish that was captured on camera. He needed to realize he wasn't the only one to actually make films.
The story’s finale was the very definition of Anticlimactic.

This is what happens when you stand up to bullies....because ultimately, bullies are cowards.
That is a very dangerous line. They are only cowards when facing someone more powerful than them. Kevin was brave because he had LESS power. He knew there was risk, but he did it anyway.

Wow, thats honestly not the story I was even expecting.
Kevin is such a good guy man.
It isn't used to convict people charged with crimes because you don't use profiling to win a conviction in court... Whatever can be said about the merits of profiling, your statement is incorrect.

On Joe Rogan the other day, the guys from The Sopranos said they’d heard Jason Priestly once punched Harvey Weinstein-
