    Another consideration is if your doing a top end or removing the cylinders, upon installation install cool head first prior to tightening and torquing cylinder nuts. This will allow proper alignment of head to cylinders. I messed up one before doing this backwards!

    going to dunes this weekend and switched from a 19cc dome to a 22 cc dome and carbs are a 28 oval bore. Top end sputters with the new 22cc domes on top end, my question is do I up the jets or go down on the jets? All test have been done at sea level. Thanks man, you are the man when it comes to banshee's!

      Gerson Silva smaller domes increase compression, but then you need higher octane fuel to prevent detonation.

    Hello sir, first of all great video. I have a question. My banshee was measuring 120 psi in both pistons after a fresh re-built with new porting job, bored over .020, 19cc domes on ADA head and .025 base gasket. I was having problems starting it cold which I found out that I had the carb. Bowls installed wrong after watching your videos. I was using WSM pistons and my banshee broke the left piston, I replaced those with wiseco and installed 16 cc domes and installed a .015 base gasket, my compression is reading 185 psi which ADA recommends 110 octane race fuel. Some of my other mods are time plate +4, Vforce 4, and jetted carbs, the squish measured .040 both sides and the leak check was good. Do you use race fuel for 185 psi compression measured cold or what do you recommend? Again thanks for the vídeos and keep up the good work.

    Can you put a cool head on a stock banshee that only has lectern carbs

  • @charleshansert4514
    @charleshansert4514 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok first off I dont know whole lot about banshees. I was given an 87 frame with a motor with pro design cool heads. it was last touched in 1999 before i got it. i got the cool head o ring replacement kit just cause rubber goes bad.. should i just plan on tearing the motor down and redoing all the seals and get eyes on what pistons i have. motor turns over easy ,wasnt stored with gear oil in the crank and seals still look new. the man who built it passed away in a motorcycle crash around 2000 so he isnt around to ask. Im assuming if its stock a compression test will tell me right away what im working with or if it had leaks from sitting for 20 years. im in the process of rebuilding it all for trail riding i got the 28 keihen pwks carbs, reed spacer and reeds and boost bottle and k and n pods... im terrified since i dont know what it started with i wont know how to get the jetting right and i melt or detonate the motor. i dont know what size domes i have.. are they marked? i bought the clymers manual but waiting on it. You do great videos and they've been a big help with the swing arms and j arms already.. i also have a bar on the frame right above where the steel break lines should go and i cant tell if its original or was added the shocks are gonna rub.. id love to send you a pic and you can tell me if its safe to cut off or if its factory. Ive seen it on no other frame from any year of banshee but its painted same as the rest of the frame. any help or suggestions or even pointing me to video would be appreciated.

    I ended up buying a cool head but dad ending up getting the ebay version instead of pro design im just a lil concerned on the domes where the oring sits my domes dont have a oring slot but it came with green ones n im just dont know if its wrong or do i put the oring on top of the cylinder block and then the dome on top i just dont have a slot where the oring stay with out slipping out when you flip it upside down to put the dome on top of block where piston comes out of thanks!

  • @OscarHernandez-or5ig

    I had a questions about my banshee and you seem like the right guy. I got a banshee 3 months ago and when I wasn't home some family was here and decided they wanted to ride it. when we came back the oil was leaking and replaces some parts. Later it wouldnt run so but would turn on so when we took it apart one of the pistons was broken. Do you know what could have caused this?

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it was run really hard, might have held it pinned too long and leaned out and seized a piston. if it had a small air leak and was already jetted on thr lean side, that's a recipe for disaster. A properly tuned and built banshee engine will take tons of hard hours, I know of stock 90 models still on the original top ends.

  • @BoostedMonkey4g63
    @BoostedMonkey4g63 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Quick question, what would be the best approach to remove the cylinders if one of the pistons is stuck in one of the cylinders because some ran the engine with just gas and no oil?

  • @evanwilliams2602
    @evanwilliams2602 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Question my man. So when I installed my engine after a rebuild I am having coolant leak from there the cool head meets the top of cylinders. It actually showed signs of leaking before I even started the engine for break in. Now when I installed this is know for sure I put some metal like head gasket on the engine where cool head meets cylinders. I noticed in your video you did not. I'm guessing that's why I'm having. Leak by. Let me know I noticed you didnt use that metal head gasket before putting cool head on

    • @kevingalindo1

      Negative, when I re check them, i pull till the click. the nuts/ bolts don't turn any more then they were to begin with.
      if the torque is set to say 50ftlbs, you can pull it 100 times it gonna click at 50, unless you pull past the 50 you won't over torque it.

    I can't find it, but i thought i saw on one of your other videos, the website to order the cool head kit from, and you also showed the chart to know which domes to buy. Can you give that information? I don't run higher than 93 pump gas. 22 and 21 cc domes work for 93 octane but 21's have more compression. Which do i choose? I'm on a new top and bottom end as of 3 years ago and I don't ride a whole lot so the hours are low.

      Musarapio_HHA si se puede, solo a la hora de escojer los tazones que sean para el estilo de piston que tienes por que a veces ya vienen con pistones de blaster. Otra cosa que rl tazon sea de 21 cc o 20 cc por que si obtienes mas chicos la compresion subiria bastante al punto de que necesitaria mejor combustible con octanaje mas alto de 93

    hello sir I got a quick question I have a 421 cheetah that I only do mainly trail riding on and I do believe my carburetors are 38 millimeter keihin twins, my banshee eats a lot of gas and I can't go very far on the trails maybe 30 miles eats up a whole tank what can I do to get better gas mileage

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's the nature of the beast, 30 Miles is about right, I hear some guys get 26. You could try smaller carbs, but all in all, the engine will still require a certain amountil of fuel. Not a lot you can do honestly. smaller carbs will however give you more low end grunt.

      21cc should be safe for pump gas, I and a lot of guys run 20cc domes with no problems. Just run 93 octane and keep the timing below 4°. Also, be sure to plug chop it. You should be fine man.

      sorry just seen the other question, thats too much, I take it the bore isn't fresh?
      for Wiseco top ring multiply your bore size by .004 for end gap
      2nd ring multiply by .005
      i.e. top ring
      64mm bore= 2.52" x .004=.0100
      2nd ring
      2.52" x .005=..0126

      It runs a lot cooler but brings the compression ratio up

  • @jakedavidson9851
    @jakedavidson9851 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    How much power does this add?

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on supporting mods, it helps the engine run cooler, cooler engines make more power. Depending on dome selection, higher compression will help add some low end punch. For instance you could run 20cc domes and then add °4 degrees of timing, and of you have a a good set of pipes, it'll make really good low end power.

    All that money spent on the engine and you used a green base gasket? Surely you could have ponied up for a cometic or OEM....

    • @kevingalindo1
      @kevingalindo1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These gaskets come with the vitos kits. I use them all the time. Never use sealant, never have a leak. I've used vertex, Cometic and K&S as well. people give alot if grief over pro design cool heads too. "theyre junk, they always leak" I have yet to have one leak.
