Getting ready to split the case on my banshee, Brother I really appreciate this video, love the way you walk us through step by step, I think you do the best videos on TH-cam.
Let me tell you that your video is the reason I took on the project of splitting the case on my 75’ RD350. You saved me $500. But what I’ve learned from doing it myself is priceless.
South Texas Banshee brother you have no idea. I’ve seen you me video for months. Studying it. Then as I dived into the case splitting, your video made even more sense. You’ve got a way of speaking that is easy to follow. Thanks again for making this video. Subscribed!
Here in 2021 and you just helped me split this 1997 yamaha banshee engine that's been sitting for 20 years that. I've seen every single video you have made about the banshee you have been a great help. Hope you continue with the good work and help more people and make more videos. Have a great day 😀
Quite amazing : less than half an hour. I wasn't going to watch it all, but you get drawn in. I'm doing a leak test soon and may need all this info, thanks.
Thumbs up my man. U may have converted me to use the videos instead of the shop manuals. My J-arm & my kenny roberts RZ that i bought almost new when i was a kid. both our getting first-ever engine split & completely gone thru & checked. Splitting cases is one thing I've never done & this video alone has helped immensely & i for one appreciate you guys taking your time to help us out and not just post stoopid irrelevant shit. Love the 2strok'r smokers! Keep it up & thanx from south dakota. 👍🏽
I think I am gonna tackle this job myself. My new bike is making some noise n we do street riding here in Philly and do not need it throwing a rod or seizing up mid chase.
His videos are the absolute best...i did a new clutch & basket and got it right with the adjustment 1st shot...i did however need to take it back apart because i snapped the little tab on the lock washer that goes behind the 32mm nut...i was just gonna leave it cuz im not sure how much a broken tab really matters, but i didnt wanna chance grenading my motor for an 8$ part...so now im just waiting for it to show up....
I've been looking over your videos for email and cant find it. I have a 2000 stock banshee the bottom end just started knocking and I'm not mechanical enough to rebuild lol. I was wondering what you would charge parts and labor to rebuild the top end and bottom end with the cheapest but decent quality part staying stock? I would ship you engine and carbs I also have jet kit I would ship with it that way you could jet properly. Thanks and have great day
Very good video. What is the best way to clean the parts after taking the case apart? When I took my clutches out a flat o-ring came off a few of the pressure plates. I did not notice it on happening to you on your video. Does that mean I need to replace them? Thanks
Under that stator wiring and in front of the clutch arm there is a hole.... wtf is that for shouldn't it be plugged? I pulled a piece of tubing out of mine, it looks like it goes right insidethe crankcase?
Love your videos bud!!! Very detailed and easy to understand. I have a good question. Im splitting my cases to get to a welded clutch rod, is it absolutely necessary to remove the flywheel,or can I split it with out removing it?
South Texas Banshee thanks for replying. Yeah I figured thats why, I tried to unscrew the 3 that hold the plate but I believe it is a little too long for them to come loose. I just ordered the flywheel removal tool from your comments. Thanks again. Will be tuned in if you make more videos, God bless, and much respect from nogales Arizona
How would you get the clutch shaft out if it's stuck and won't come out. I took the clutch out , clutch adjuster out . Unfortunately the ball was welded to the adjuster. I haven't split the motor yet , but I just wanted to see what I could do before splitting it. I've tried getting it out with a magnet , no luck . Any suggestions?
Banshee Smith Man you could try to flush it with brake clean and blow it with air, get it super clean and put 1 drop of super glue on a new rod and glue it to the old one. Let it dry really good before you try and pull it out. Twist and pull on it and keep those fingers crossed. Don't put too much glue cause it'll ooz out and then just make things worse.
Kevin @south Texas banshee can I buy them pistoms and put them on stock connecting rods and stock cylinders or do I need ported cylinders and what do you guys mean weld the crank??
My bike is having trouble shifting down and up and there’s a lot of play in the shift shaft My clutches gone ? Or can that shift shaft strip or something ? Good videos !!
Your shift adjuster bolt is broken. Search Yamaha banshee shift adjuster bolt adjustment. That’s what’s broke. Now hard to fix. You’ll need to pull the clutch basket and shift shaft, walk the broken bolt out with a pic and then replace it.
South Texas Banshee I can’t seem to pin point what the “yamaha banshee shift adjuster bolt” looks like online ..you think you can send me a link to the part ? Please 🙏🏻
Ken Woolner It just allows fuel/water that to drain down through to the ground. Some guys run their carb vents down through them for a cleaner look as well.
Lol I'm just like you when it comes to remembering the names of parts while recording.. It seems like every time I turn the camera on my mind just forgets all of the parts.. Ha ha
ClutchLuck24/7 Man I know right, I catch myself all the time! Soo many re takes lol.im like people gonna think I have no idea what im talking about lol
Freddy C Just say no to Wiseco, Oem or Hot rods is the way to go. If you're gonna port it and shoot for a lot of power, definitely get it welded. Here is a good crank kit. I buy it all the time. m.ebay.com/itm/141098327310?_mwBanner=1
You are my savior! I greatly appreciate your replys and everything you do! What do you recommend i do?(to make if stronger ,have to buy a new crank forsure) .. Im splitting the cases as we speak due to your great videos .
+Freddy C What you do to coax more power from it depends solely on how much $$$$$ you want to spend. For a low amount of money you can still wake a sleeping giant. I don't know what mods you have right now but here's an idea. Pod filters T-5 pipes Timing plate set at +4° Vitos forged super stock pistons Fresh bore ( I recommend KAN power sports) If you are near sea level jet it this way 360 main jet 30 pilot Needle 3rd from top or middle groove For more throttle response and low end power use V-Force 4 reeds. The pistons listed will add 8+ horses right out of the box. They have altered port times and sort of "mimic" a port job. They are NOT your average piston so don't let anyone tell you they are.
South Texas Banshee a boss I've been watching your videos and now I'm thinking of my next project 😉I don't want to send no more then 3k is that possible if I do most of the labor? oh yeah I'm thinking about a 390ish cc engine
I can't say enough how helpful you are for banshee owners across our great nation.!!!!
Glad I could help!

Really grateful for guys like you that take the time to make helpful videos like this. It made tearing my engine apart much easier 👍

5:10 "We're gonna go ahead and bust this nut" Ha ha I didn't catch that the first time..
ClutchLuck24/7 hahahaha
I split my first banshee motor with your instructions. Awesome video!!

No leave those out, they're just Stock clutch cushions. Use Castrol super clean to clean them.
Kevin, What a great video! Pretty sure that was me that texted you when your phone went off in this video! lol Good stuff man, STB!
Thanks! and it probably was lol!
Under that stator wiring and in front of the clutch arm there is a hole.... wtf is that for shouldn't it be plugged? I pulled a piece of tubing out of mine, it looks like it goes right insidethe crankcase?
My clutch arm will not come out and is stuck engaged also can’t get the bolt out underneath . Any suggestions?
What are the best pipes for a stock banshee
Love your videos bud!!! Very detailed and easy to understand. I have a good question. Im splitting my cases to get to a welded clutch rod, is it absolutely necessary to remove the flywheel,or can I split it with out removing it?
Alex Ayala
Thanks man! Yea you’ll have to pull it. The stator plate behind it attaches to both upper and lower case halves.
South Texas Banshee thanks for replying. Yeah I figured thats why, I tried to unscrew the 3 that hold the plate but I believe it is a little too long for them to come loose. The next post describes exactly where its located
can you explain the rubbing on the one side of the lower case? what did you find?
Where can i bye wiring harness

Very glad to hear that man.

I’m looking for a banshee motor for a custom build do you have one you’re wanting to get rid of?
what is the purpose of the hole in the top case, behind the clutch lever? is it just a vent?
Ken Woolner
It just allows fuel/water that to drain down through to the ground. Some guys run their carb vents down through them for a cleaner look as well.
hey just saw your vid did you learn your self or did u go to tech school great video
learned myself bud, thanks!!!
Lol I'm just like you when it comes to remembering the names of parts while recording.. It seems like every time I turn the camera on my mind just forgets all of the parts.. Ha ha

Great videos really helpful keep up the great work.
Amazing video here 2021
I love how at the end he says 2 hours is a lot of work to get to the crank. 4 stroke people it takes 3 hours just to take off the top end 😂😂
S.T.B! you're a master!
one question what are your thoughts on a wiseco crank? also whichever crank i get must i get it welded?
Freddy C
Just say no to Wiseco, Oem or Hot rods is the way to go. If you're gonna port it and shoot for a lot of power, definitely get it welded.
Here is a good crank kit. I buy it all the time.

South Texas Banshee i got the t5 pipes and a tomey filter with no airbox
Maybe 1000 budget give or take
