Yep, and people are trying to downplay this guide and the move. It's a basic move but denying it's use is not it. People are so stuck in the past when it comes to Marth specifically. I think that's the community's biggest problem. Always complaining about how Marth's kit isn't the same in melee or Smash 4 when it's still good in Ultimate if they actually put in the work.
It's weak on its own but as you see in the video, it can be super useful. Also how is it sauceless when you can Jab 1 - Shield break someone? I think that is smooth. A lot of Jabs won't do that.
@@YouALLStop I mean I know it's definitely not a bad move. It's pretty useful actually. What I meant is that I already knew what it was good for and that it's strengths are pretty straight forward.
@@YouALLStopthat option literally only beats shield. The opponent can jump, roll, mash an attack to get away. You’re putting too much emphasis on that mixup when it really is only gonna work MAYBE once a match.
@@bobbill4257 I mean duh, but that doesn't mean it isn't cool when it works. That was my point. Also Jab does catch jumps and rolls with the second swing so like... no? Spyder literally showed that in the video. You cannot just jump out of shield until the entire sequence is finished, but it can be delayed so that's why the mix up works. Ignaize uses it a lot on good players so no it doesn't just work "once a match." It will only work once a match if you are *that* predictable with it.

Oh yeah. I use Marth's tippers against Link.
I think any moves that can set up tech chases or 50/50 scenarios are good moves.
I miss the days when Marth had those sick Jab -> Ftilt or Fsmash confirms in Smash 4
I don't even know why they got rid of it. Such a wacky and poor design decision

With how laggy and small most ground movrs are in smash marth's jab catching jumps makes it already better than half the jabs in the game.
