Aw man, the back air is weird, because if you fastfall the hitboxes and animations look scuffed and I can't even tell how big it is when that happens I've considered all of these uses as a pocket Marth although low percent tipper dair sometimes leads into an ftilt or jab? Even without the spike the tipper is great at edgeguards too If you've got a discord id like to do some friendlies sometime
Honestly shocked you didn’t cover the fact that you can use it to cover basically all tech options at the edge of the stage - if you put someone into a tech option near the ledge, Dair just covers everything - and if you get a spike on a hard read or stuff we all know what he can do. It’s how I use it - I’ve just copied a lot of what Ignaize does and I noticed he does it a whole lot
I mean I showed examples of using Dair as a means to punish several tech options but yeah that is pretty crazy. I guess I could have went over that in more detail.
As a unranked Marth who's been made fun of for saying this character is one of the best sword fighters in the game, I appreciate the fact you talk about the power of d-air. Marth's Goal is to get sour spots into tipper or bait reactions to finish you off early. It's been this way since melee. Once Marth players start tech chasing off of f-air or jab to vortex the opponent into a pick your poison tech option- as well as improve their fast fall up-air juggle skills people will notice. Keep up the good work.
Love the video idk how I knew 90% of the things in it because I’m quite new and have been playing Marth for only around 3mo but I guess I know more than I thought about down air probably from watching your videos and seeing how you use it ❤
Should do a video with me on how to anti-air with f-smash. I've had people tell me I hack the game because of how often I hit them with raw f-smash because they keep jumping or try to hit me from an angle. Which I actually based a lot of that off Zain's play in melee. Marth's 45º angle is a death trap and the biggest hitbox for his tipper when doing f-smash; though you can argue the first inital hitbox above his head. This is a very good video had to comment twice.
YO CONGRATS ON 1K! That being said, when I use Marth/Lucina for “friendlies”(I try not to use them until I get Sonic to elite) I use dair a lot. Still need to learn to shutter step tho. This gives a lot more insight on its uses. Thanks Spider.
One of my favorite Marth moves! The 4 different hitboxes make it very fun to use and versatile. It’s even good at spacing sideways in some situations combined with hurtbox shifting. Drawbacks are that it’s fairly laggy so can’t be abused, spike is only 1 frame and tipper is relatively weak (similar to F-air). The utility of the move makes up for it though.
I love that someone is trying to develop Marth, but some of these arguments are some hilarious "I've never played anyone beyond mid level" tier. A frame 14 OOS kill confirm is borderline completely useless against a decent player.

Lucina d-air kinda good too! And both can sometimes combo into up smash with the hitbox at 1:20 Very character and % dependent tho.
Her Dair is honestly busted as well. I'm surprised Lucina mains hardly use it. It covers so much lol
