      Another descriptor of lapis lazuli is ultramarine. Every classical blue paint was lapis lazuli and very expensive, so it was used very sparingly. Only the church could afford its excessive use, which is why the virgin mary is always depicted in blue

    Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that on all our stone soap labels there is a warning about removing the stones before using the soaps with water. The stones are just for pretty and should be placed in an area away from sunlight. 🌞 The gems are never intended to stay in the soap while you bathe with it, it’s more of a two for one product that comes packaged together. 😂
    EDIT : Also, apparently I’m not pronouncing it the same way they did in the show. I watched the clip probably 3 weeks before I made the soap and it’s uhhh.....very possible I sorta forgot. I was so certain I had it right but alas. 😂😂😂

    I just found your soaps & I can't stop watching the videos. I can't believe you put a real stone in each bar! That is so awesome! I love Lapis. I missed this one, but I will keep watching for your next batch of soaps to come out. It will be hard to choose, they all look so amazing.

    apparently, when you cut Lapis Lazuli it smells really bad, which I find amusing since I imagen this soap smells really good

    • @airiegbert5419
      @airiegbert5419 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that is because lapis lazuli is compounded from sulfur! Which actually makes it toxic in water.

  • @darcysmith5930
    @darcysmith5930 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow you totally nailed this one! It looks EXACTLY like the stone. All your soaps are beautiful but this is definitely one of my top favorites! When you did the reveal pulling the bar out after cutting I gasped a little and said “wow”. Amazing!

  • @angelminkshomemadegoods5202

    Lapis Lazuli is a water-soluble stone that should not get wet. If you have ever worn this gemstone as jewelry you may find that at the end of the day that your skin is tattooed blue. That is because it will dissolve against the moisture of your warm skin.

    • @linhfphung7867

    • @TheVermilliaFamily
      @TheVermilliaFamily 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@linhfphung7867 That's typically why most lapis lazuli jewelry is polished and may even have a backing to prevent skin-on-skin contact. Rough stones will definitely stain the skin, but polished stones are much less likely to do this.

    • @MutetheCity

      I didn't know this. I have lapis lazuli plugs (gauges), and they haven't done that to me, so it must have some sort of coating like the other commenter mentioned. That or I have some sort of imitation.

    • @lisadunham3845
      @lisadunham3845 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      If you are turning blue from lapis.... it's fake. Its dyed Howlite the same stone they use for fake turquoise. The natural polished stone doesn't turn you blue. I have several pieces that are still intact going on 20 years of wear.

    • @heidikindon5182
      @heidikindon5182 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If it is real it will not turn you blue with simple water wetting. While some people’s skin oils are acidic enough to wear the shine off of a polished piece, only fake dyed stuff will rub off. The blue comes from the actual mineral content, not surface pigment.

    I'm so glad you commented about the lapis being removed. Please, before making more gemstone soaps with the stone on top, please research the safety and toxicity of the gems! Some will dissolve in water and some release unsafe chemicals if they are in water. Like malachite for example, that would be an absolutely beautiful soap oh MY GOODNESS but the actual stone wouldn't be safe to put in it. Anyways, this soap came out so beautiful 😍 I do hope you continue this series!
