That would make controlling the hulk a lot easier especially if he had the help of stark tech to keep his heartbeat low, however Id find it hard to believe that he increased his heartbeat to 200 bpm right before punching a leviathan
@@chrisblanc663 the fact he was running to take a break to stop his heart rate from reaching to 200 it shows how much is at stake. He was also stressed from turning.
But that’s not the character. It isn’t don’t make my heart rate go up, it don’t make me angry. The character supposed to be a metaphor for mental illness, trauma, PTSD and anger issues. Not heart rate issues don’t make me horny, you wouldn’t like me when I’m horny like what the hell he had a relationship with Betty Ross as an adult and they couldn’t get intimate the entire time? That’s a glorified friendship.
great analysis!! loved the addition of the directors commentary. haven’t seen this movie in years but i’ve always thought it was better than people make it out to be
Thank you for doing this! With the controversy surrounding She-Hulk and ‘Soyboy Hulk’, I was trying to find out why everyone was disagreeing with MCU’s portrayal of the Hulk. Found myself becoming more of fan when I learned more about the character, especially with what the vision for the 2008 movie. So thank u for breaking down the movie and for trying to be objective.
I've always loved the hulk ever since I was little and can scarcely recall what happened in the earlier movies. But, with what Marvel has been putting out recently, especially with She-hulk. The other night I watched the original movies and seeing these dedicated videos has been so cleansing and refreshing to see the actual character used properly. So thank you for these dedicated breakdown and character analysis videos!
Watching all of these reviews, you can really tell the director and writers cared about Hulk, and producing a high quality movie. I really wish that the MCU focused on good story telling and characterization, and not next product profit and humor.
The fact they got rid of a lot of deleted scenes that establish more of the characters is big crime. And Ross saying that he wants what’s inside of him, shows his desire.
I have always loved the hulk and always enjoyed this movie. It has so much more effort put into it then people give it credit for so it's really nice to see someone deeply analyze this film.
People tend to have this entitled idea that it's an artist's job is to be completely beholden to an audience and must only make their work to satisfy said audience and doing what they want and what they want only, instead of allowing the artist the freedom of self expression, which is the entire purpose of art in the first place. The audiences will alienate the artist from their work by forcing an artist to be beholden to a constantly changing standard of quality, a dichotomy of satisfaction. In terms of metaphors, quality in this sense is a gun and it is constantly being held on the back of the artist's head. If their standards are not met or the artist does something the audience doesn't like, they label the work as bad and pull the trigger and the artist is replaced with another artist who's more willing to do what they're told. But if the standards are met then they allow the artist to keep working, but the gun is still drawn. They can only keep making art as long as the art satisfies them and as long as they obey the standards that are enforced upon them. The artist is not allowed to control the means of self expression, instead they are only allowed to produce artistic works as long as the value of their work is extracted by the audiences. This type of relationship should sound familiar...
@justbny9278 Yeah, not to me. I'll take this over *_a lot of_* MCU movies any day of the week. And *_definitely_* over *_any_* post-Endgame entry. I mean, *_WOW!_*
100% agree brother, I actually really like this movie. There's a lot of attention to detail which I've always appreciated. But people just dismiss it as another generic superhero film, which is unfair to me
0:54 Ikr, when I saw the movie the first time, it feels like watching a hollywood action blockbuster as opposed to the rest of Phase 1. Also Stark Industries.
I always really enjoyed this movie. Abomination was badass, and the fight was brutal. Some really cool moments throughout. I wish it had a bigger spot in the MCU.
I rewatched this movie and it is in my top 10 favorite MCU films 1. Infinity war 2. The Winter Soldier 3. Iron Man 4. Civil War 5. The Avengers 6. Guardians of the Galaxy 7. The Incredible Hulk 8. Ant-Man 9. Spider-Man Homecoming 10. Thor
Tom Roth was approximately 46yo when this was filmed. He had the right body for a middle-aged mercenary. What I mean is, its normal to get ripped for a part nowadays. He didn't eat steroids like Pacman pellets and start bench pressing Buicks.
To talk a out the gloves for a second, removing them does make sense, the types of gloves he had on wouldn't let him actually work on it if you look at them you can see they'd make any precise finger work useless, however he should have kept them on to see what screwdriver he'd need, the real problem with the scene is that he gets a wound like that from electricity, electricity doesn't cut your skin, and it surely wasn't just sharp enough to cut him, a better way to get this would have been to have him stripping a wire with a knife and while talking to his boss he cuts himself by mistake
@Valtuem I recommend that you (and a bunch of others in these comment sections) to watch the extended scenes ‘The Backside of God’, and another one where Bruce has finally seen the light when he has been in the dark for so long!
If you've ever done electrical work in your life... Dealing with small wires... You will understand why he just went a head and knocked out the job as quick as possible to stop the electrical compontents from shorting on the boxes housing.
19:01 Ross really shows his manipulative streak in this scene. He knows exactly how old Blonski is. He was just looking through his file the other day. It's scenes like this that I can't help but think back to when I watch Civil War. Ross has already revealed who and what he is. He's a power-hungry manipulator and a very good liar. He's doing the same thing to the Avengers in that movie that he's doing to Blonski in this movie. But virtually nobody remembers the details of this movie, so nobody takes them into consideration.
You have to understand that when this movie came out most people thought it was a sequel to the Ang Lee Hulk movie and a lot of people didn't realize that this film was the beginning of the Marvel universe and how alot to with why it wasn't as Big of a Hit as Ironman was. I remember back then how people would say I thought it was a sequel to the Hulk film
@thespiderhuman8473 I know, right? 😂 It would have been so awesome continually seeing him in see-through green (when he transformed ) and had the fish ears like in the COMICS!
I love thos movie. I think people ignore it or it "sucks" cuz of the Banner recast. But really. Who cares. The emotion between Bruce and Betty Alone makes it a good movie
I have a what if in this movie. Banners first transformation in the gamma lab was gray hulk and in the final battle will lead back into the gamma lab when Edward Norton was chased after by balonski with the super Soldier serum then the gamma lab explodes with lots of gamma radiation and now we have abomination and banner transforming into the green hulk for the final fight
6:36 well you have a point but for being honest no matter conscious somebody is sooner or later you're going to let your guard down and let's not forget he's in a very crowded place his mind has been preoccupied with something else. That and come on they had to think of something to further the Plot.
Louis Leterrier was a great choice to direct this movie he’s great at conveying hulks and abomination speed and terrifying power and Bruce’s struggle hold back the monster, you can tell he truly loved the character along with Edward Norton
Huh? In Iron Man 1, Stark burns terrors to death with his giant Iron Man suit, and allows the Middle-eastern civilians to beat the terrorist to death, with shitty rock instrumental music in the background, which also glamourizes the machine and murder. This makes also him yet another anti-hero, and makes the movie yet another generic Hollywood action movie. I know, they’re terrorists, but nobody knows any of their circumstances (if they were forced to become bad or not, if they would have rather wanted to protect their families or not). And, yes, this Hulk movie has a lot of problems. And, true, Stark destroys the rockets in the process, and openly says that he won’t allow his company to make, which is great character development, but he contradicts himself.

I always liked the concept that Bruce has to keep his heart rate under 200 bpm as opposed to just getting angry or emotional
That would make controlling the hulk a lot easier especially if he had the help of stark tech to keep his heartbeat low, however Id find it hard to believe that he increased his heartbeat to 200 bpm right before punching a leviathan
200 bpm is really fast. I can only get mine to 190ish when I am super pushing it. Means I would be incident free, and sex is perfectly safe.
@@chrisblanc663 the fact he was running to take a break to stop his heart rate from reaching to 200 it shows how much is at stake. He was also stressed from turning.
@@middleman5463 at that point he learned to contorl the hulk

Very good analysis 😊 I personally enjoyed this Hulk movie, and the way Edward portrayed the character with Bruce feeling vulnerable.
Same.
great analysis!! loved the addition of the directors commentary. haven’t seen this movie in years but i’ve always thought it was better than people make it out to be

Desire to make more super soldiers with Banner's blood, and feared that of given to the wrong hands, things will go chaotic.
@chriscage669 Not having ‘The Backside of God’ scene in the film, which explains Ross’s character, is probably the best example of a crime
I have always loved the hulk and always enjoyed this movie. It has so much more effort put into it then people give it credit for so it's really nice to see someone deeply analyze this film.
I’m only 5 min in and this is already a great analysis. Great job my friend
Thank you!
0:05 "Is _The Incredible Hulk_ as bad as everyone says?"
*Wait! There are people who actually say this movie is bad?! **_WTF!_*
It's kinda of the consesus actually, it's constantly panned as one of the Weakest in the MCU

@turboed1337 ‘The Winter Soldier’ was good, though, so at least Disney had one good film in that era of shit movies! 🤣
I love this movie so much and nobody bothers to analyze it. I need some hulk fix

Exactly as a working man working without gloves is alot easier
This is the 2nd Best Bruce Banner/Hulk of all time. 2nd to Bill Bixby and Lou Ferigno.
Best Hulk movie is 2003. Best Banner and Hulk is from 2012’s Avengers

This bruce banner was so active, not a clown
Nice.
Am I the only one who didn’t hear him say “leave me alone” in the film.
It’s one of the worst movies of all time
Hilarious
We got a funny guy here
