    I love how Norton is describing the Hulk here because he actually gets the character. Love Marks Hulk but prefer Norton's. Made you believe that when he'd get mad you'd be dead.

    Edward Norton's Hulk really captured the essence of Hulk and how conflicted Bruce Banner was. By far the best Hulk. One thing of note is that Mark Ruffallo and Edward Norton are friends. Ruffalo called Norton when he was offered the job and would not take the job without Norton's blessing which Norton gave.

      As someone who works in movies
      I can tell you this
      There is a hierarchy that you have to respect
      And it's not some arcaic BS that has been dragged into our present that we need to get rid off
      When you start in film school, you will realize hierarchy exists because of something
      When you are directing an exercise and the photographer starts taking decisions for you, then your little project will turn into chaos, now imagine that on a hollywood blockbuster scale
      And yes, actors have some word
      They can propose stuff to the director, but notice that I said "propose"
      For what I've seen from Norton is that he takes decisions and start molding the project to what he thinks is best, and honestly he night be right, his movies are always good, but people in the production hate this becquse they are unable to do their job, and probably they have to move mountains in order to keep the ship floating when someone is doing something he is not supposed to (because it's REALLY hard)
      RULE #1 in film production: DON'T DO NOTHING IN ANY DEPARTMENT IS NOT YOURS, NOT EVEN IF YOU CAN, MIND YOUR OWN THING AND THATS IT, OTHERWISE IS BASICALLY A TABOO AND YOU'LL GET FIRED

      Ruffalos portrayal is effectively an emasculated Hulk, who for large parts of the series was scared of his own shadow. This quality was portrayed as a virtue, whereas Nortons portrayal was far more cutting against the bone and tried to wrestle with the tensions inherent in all people. It's no coincidence, ultimately, that once Disney got involved in the franchise Hulk ceased to be an exploration of the difficulties with self control that we tend to face, and more about infantalizing aggression to resonate with a wider audience.

    I loved Norton’s portrayal of Banner, and I think he would have been an amazing choice if they had ever chose to delve deeper into the more unsavory aspects of Banner we’ve seen in the comics. His capability for pettiness, narcissism, jealousy, cruelty, disdain for his teammate and even the human race,. Bruce is no this gentle, altruistic, bleeding hear kind of guy that Ruffalo plays him as. He’s cunning, cruel, ruthless and quick to anger, he is very much his father’s son. I feel Norton could have embodied that well onscreen. As for his Hulk, I liked that he was larger, more savage, not to mention Norton’s Hulk was true and accurate to the Hulk’s abilities, taking the time to showcase that he did in fact grow stronger as he became angrier when he overcame total defeat by fueling his rage. Also, and this his the fanboy in me, Norton’s Hulk used the Thunder-Clap...’Nuff Said.

    Honestly Norton would’ve have been a good fit in the current MCU in my opinion. Most people consider his more grounded and darker tone from the Universal movie not to fit the rest of the MCU but in my opinion I think that would’ve worked out perfectly. I feel like Bruce Banner would really be that character who is more grounded than the rest of the Avengers. He’s not a god, or a billionaire, or a Super Soldier, he’s just a guy who’s trying to fix a problem. I feel like his more realistic input in scenes would’ve have been a great addition to see. Really wish we could’ve gotten him back.

    • @tboneforreal
      @tboneforreal 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@AnarchyMetal03 My understanding is that while the rights to the character for movies reverted back to Marvel and thus why he can be used in the MCU, Universal has a perpetual clause in the contract to have the right of first refusal to distribute any solo Hulk films. This was fine for The Incredible Hulk movie because Marvel was still mostly just doing the production of the movies and partnering up with other companies to distribute them. Now, they are owned by Disney that does it's own distribution, but they can't get around that they have to at least offer Universal the chance to distribute it and get a cut of the revenue. So, what they have been doing instead is having an underlying arc for Hulk in the MCU movies, but this is hard to do when you have different directors and writers over the course of these movies and trying to keep subplots together with the main story. It also doesn't help that scenes that would have further explained the romance between Hulk and Black Widow were cut for time. So, it kind of left their story end abruptly and seem unfinished.
