    Hi - This video was fantastic! Can you use the RA2 Pro with the Laserbox Rotary? I'd like the power and functionality of the Laserbox - however - I want to be able to engrave items (like mugs) that have a larger diameter than what the Laserbox supports. I've heard you can raise the box and drop the pan to accomplish this. If I do that - I would also be interested in adding the RA2 Pro chuck. Thank you!

    I've been using the regular rotary for a year now. Finally fed up with some tumblers today do with the handles so I'm going to give this a shot. It's on its way. My goal is to put the new one in the Chuck style mode permanently and use the old one when I do not require the Chuck. Will I have issues? Do they have different settings that would have to be changed each time?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations

    I have a request for something I would like you to try. I have not been able to find anyone who's done this yet, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough. In my head I'm thinking of starting with a flat piece of lexan or similar material in either white or clear, and it would need to be just a few mm thick. On one side I think it would need to be painted black and then have a graphic etched into that side. This way when a light shines from the back the graphic "lights" up. Can this be done with a laser like the XTool?

    Does this rotary device work with CO2 lasers like Aeon or Thunder laser?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe those lasers might run a voltage of 24v instead of the 12v that I believe the xtool pushes out. You may just need to put in some kind of reducer to keep it from overheating the stepper motor but I believe it could be done or you could even replace this stepper motor with a larger 24v motor. Disclaimer I am not an electrical engineer and I could be wrong.

    • @ChadsCustomCreations

      Acrylics definitely and if you see I engrave on that plastic cup I didn't quite get the right speed and power but it actually did work.

    What did you spray on the mugs and glassware?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So this was rustoleums cold galvanizing spray. I will talk about it in the tutorial it was my first time using it, but I must say the results were good but I think there maybe some serious health concerns with lasering this stuff. Reminds me of my days in welding classes in college they said never weld galvanized metals it can cause something they call metal fume fever. I will go over it but I don't think I'll recommend that technique as I think there are safer options.

      @Lessko Brandon Thank you for sharing this experience, yeah I had a very mild case of this while doing some welding on galv in my college days in a sculpture class I thought I was being safe being outside and keeping my face away but didn't seem to be enough. I think I need to test out that brilliance metal marking spray on the ceramics and glass and see how it does cause it seems to be much less toxic. I would hate to share this galv technique and cause a bunch of people to get sick or harm others.

      Yes so if you have to get a good engraving on a cone shaped object it is quite tough but buster beagle I believe has a video on how to adjust your images to make up for this.

    Can anyone confirm if this works with a ONEFINITY?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cannot but I imagine it would be possible as you could probably wire it up to just use the Y axis wires to control. I believe this runs on 12v so you may need to convert that if the onefinity is running on 24v

      Cold galvanizing spray from Lowes I don't recommend it as the fumes smelled highly toxic. I would say look into Cermak or brilliance marking spray instead.

    Sponsored by XTool? There is no critical feedback. Surely it can't be the end of all rotary laser development?

    • @ChadsCustomCreations
      @ChadsCustomCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Peter, thanks for watching. Xtool did send the rotary to me to test out. I tested it out I haven't found anything to not like. I believe the engineers over there are actual users of the machines which makes for some great products unlike whomever decided to put the oil filter on my truck directly above my front axel on my f150. 🤦‍♂️
