Hi, great video thank you. Just to be clear i can input my own artwork into the provided software to use? And is it a must to get the air compressor? Do you have a video explaining the software setup and what all the parameters mean? please. 🙏🏻
No, it won't work with silver. Stainless steel only works because it is a surface-level heating discoloration, it doesn't actually engrave or etch. Silver doesn't act the same way.
hello i saw your video about the xtool d 1 pro .in there you talk about material library lightburn from jbrown 123 but i can't find this link. could you still put it on. thank you very much
Hello, I have an tool D1 Pro and I lost the power supply cable. I tried reaching out to the customer service and they will not tell me the specs on the supply. Instead, they want me to spend money on their website and screenshot me buying nothing, than once I pay for nothing they will send out the part I need from a 3rd party source. It is very odd and they will not give me any information. Can someone please tell me the specs of their power supply and where I can get one?
I bought a xTool D1 Pro Upgraded Laser Engraver after a frustrating connection with Makeblock after having issues with the laser quitting after about 20 minutes. I communicated with them over a 3-day period and finally sent it back to Amazon. How has yours been working?
That is unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear that. I've had no connection issues during any of my tests. Most of my testing was with USB connection, with equal time in lightburn and creative space.
I had to download the drivers on my computer because when plugging the laser in, it wouldn’t automatically download. After that I’ve really had no issues with light burn or creative space
Think this would be able to etch/engrave on a small mason jar? Those things have a pretty wonky shape to them, not sure if the fall off per quarter turn would be too much for the geometry of the software to cope with 🤷♂️
Diode lasers don't handle glass well. There are techniques to work with glass, such as coating the surface with paint then engraving through the coating. It can be tough to get good results that way though, you'd have to do some experiments to see if the D1 Pro would work in that case. CO2 lasers can easily engrave glass though. As for the shape, the relatively flat faces would probably engrave well. The software wouldn't be able to account for the rounded edges though, if you tried to use the rotary attachment.

hey man, im was really interested in a few machines and you have a TON of great info. im looking to engrave clear acrylic's to make led signs and small desk top lights. do you have any recommendations for something under 1000$ usd? i was looking at a Monport 40w and stumbled here. thanks
A honeycomb cutting surface is a must have, makes life a lot easier. An Air Assist compressor is great for cleaner cuts with woods. Some sort of ventilation, whether that is an enclosure you can vent outside, or a HEPA filter designed for laser engraving. Other than that, experiment with different materials. Try some rubber stamp making, or engrave stones, or cut mirrored acrylic. If there's a particular type of material you use frequently, then there could be material specific accessories, like a good cutter for acrylics, or acrylic glues.
You can, but you'll want to make sure it is "laser safe" vinyl. A lot of vinyl and heat transfer products contain chemicals like chlorine that is dangerous for laser cutting, so you can't just use many off-the-shelf vinyls. Laser safe ones will work though.

I see that it works with steel. Question: does it also work with sterling silver?

Is there a laser engraver that can cut clear acrylics? Can’t you just leave the paper masking on the plexiglass to cut it ?
Do one on the rotary

This is an excellent review. Wish other channels did it like this. 👍🏻
Link from JayBrown123s library for lightburn? Please!! 😊
I would be urging this 10w extensively for cutting cork for coasters but I don't see anywhere annoy it cutting cork, not just engraving
Hi, thank youfor the great video! You talked about a link for a Library from a Lightburn user "J Brown 123" - cant find it in your description. 😊
Yeah I got a D1 also and was interested in dat library, did anyone find the link? Thanks for all the info
Yes would love a rotary tool tutorial

@Hoffman Engineering im told if you put painters tape over top of the glass, that helps

What other accessories should you have?
