I LOVE feel my rhythm’s cover too it just makes sense so it’d be my n.1, this made me realise genuinely how good of a group RV is from this perspective. SM is the company w/ the best art-direction for their artists imo and RV and NCT are probably the best 2 on-going examples

i believe the reason yeri's face is blurred is bc at the time she was about the age of the Sewol fairy tragedy victims (i believe in the mv she drowns or something so yeah) and the title track's mv was also meant to represent the lives lost during said tragedy. i could be wrong tho idk
tbh queendom was the only song in the entire queendom album cover that was so out of place compare to the rest of the songs 😭 like pushin and pullin, knock on wood, pose, hello sunset really embodied the cover in my opinion, like a haunting whimsical fairytale feeling something, devious and creepy. like they couldve released queendom as the single and used the girls version as the digital art likeeeee walk with me on this 🏃 also for me if the rvf finale was in 3d it just falls flat, the 2d was safe because fmr and birthdays covers were severely different than the festivals of 2019
Despite the fact that I don't enjoy Red Velvet's music as much as I used to, it's undeniable that they are one of the most visually and narratively engaging music acts to ever do it, not just in K-Pop, but on a global scale. To me, they reimagined the possibilities of socio-political critique in the commercial arts industry, and are committed to it on a level that no other musical act had attempted. There's a meticulous absurdism to it that you can't get with traditional notions of individual authenticity, escaping the egotism and authorship that defined the history of social critique. I am continuously amazed at how their art embraces the contradictions of art and industry. More importantly, through the collision of multitudes of contexts during the production processes, their music is undeniably grounded in post-modern and feminist principles despite the deeply patriarchal setting in which the art was made. f(x) and aespa all carries those qualities, but Red Velvet has been the only one that perfected the formula. They are the GOAT for real.
Also, about why Yeri was blurred in the Velvet album cover: the theory was that Yeri at the time was around the same age as the majority of the sewol ferry tragedy victims, hence blurring her out to indicate the victim’s youth that were lost

the only thing i dislike abt sappy’s cover is the animated leaves. they either should’ve chosen a different green for the leaves or a different color for the rose? it’s too christmas-y. also seulgi & joy aren’t even looking into the camera like ???
side eyeing sbs big time like they made my sister's facecard go like are u crazy??? anyway love ur vids as always and i would have to go with feel my rythm like its just so pretty and sweet and also because i didnt watch/dont remember what the other album packaging look like so anyway
i actually rlly like “the perfect red velvet” album cover but it only fits bad boy & not any of the other tracks. like that’s my only gripe with the cover but i still love it!

honestly overall, I think you give pretty strong reasons (I especially really liked your explanation of fmr with the girls being dolls merely placed into the scenery), but more than anything, this just affirmed how awful bloom is because wow looking at that album cover on such a big scale.. ouch.
russian roulette and the velvet have so dissapoting covers. like they have so beautiful photos in the albums shooting that give of the perfect hauntig vibe of the concepts, yet sm were able to chose the worst photos for the cover
