    I came from a 15" 2018 MacBook Pro. I purchased the same configuration as you not long after these new models were released. This new MacBook is a world of difference and most definitely well worth the upgrade. I wasn't a huge fan of the butterfly keyboard, but I got used to it over time. However I couldn't go back after using the magic keyboard for the past several months. Also, I can't go back to a standard screen after being spoiled with this mini led screen with pro motion.

    • @ColeCaccamise
      @ColeCaccamise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I really love the keyboard, the butterfly one I had on my 2017 13” was just horrendous. And yeah I agree with you there, I want to try out other laptops for review but after using a display this large and of this quality it’s going to be hard to daily drive anything else.

    I LOOOOOOOOVE my M1 Pro 16-inch 2021 MacBook Pro. As an artist and visual person the big screen is great. I came from a 2012 non-Retina 15-inch MBP so the difference his HUGE. Also it's super quick, and audio is fantastic, I love the keyboard, and actual a whole 1 pond lighter than my old Mac!

      I'm watching this on my 2012 MBP and debating on pulling the trigger on the 2021 M1 16". Pretty sure it will be a major upgrade, I just can't let this beast go.

    The advantage you have with MagSafe, is that you can fast charge the laptop (140W for the 16”).
    I don’t know if you get more power, the chips seems not to draw so much power.

  • @aelaan12
    @aelaan12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It took awhile for me to purchase this laptop, I used to be the one going for the newest but I have learned my lesson. I purchased the 16" Intel based one and learned pretty quick that the chip was totally crap in it (heat, performance not up to par). I sold it and got back what I paid, which was a blessing. I went back to the 13" M1 that had just arrived, 16Gb of memory and it was a very nice laptop to use. But... 13" is not enough, especially if you have eyes as bad as mine. So I sold that and purchased a DELL XPS 17 which was the biggest mistake of my life, first of all the i9 chip and the Windows OS were things I could not get used to. I have been a Windows user until 3 years ago so some of the muscle memory was still there. The screen was great, until it just stopped working, warranty claim took two weeks, this was after I owned it two weeks, so 4 weeks in I had a refurbished laptop back (Dell claimed it was repaired that is all). The lid of the screen had two significant scratches and if you know me.... never a scratch on any of my gear. It took two months to sell that laptop and I took quite the loss but Apple had just released this MacBook and in February of this year I purchased it. Never looked back, never had one ounce of regret. I know the M2 chips are coming out, but if you see the improvements to the iPad Pro they announced today it is going to be a skip for me. So people are saying this is maybe the best laptop Apple every build, to those I say: Nay, Nay. The 2015, 15 inch laptop was the best in its time and this 16" is a very valid replacement. It is not lots better, it is better because the technology developed the past years. Hopefully we will see an OLED screen in the future, but this will do just nicely.

    • @BongRip
      @BongRip ปีที่แล้ว

      god damn make a decision and stick with it, a laptop is not worth all of that lmfao you clearly don't need one either if you can change and wait around so much, just get a laptop, pick, or don't get one and don't pick. 2 solid options

    Hi! Concerning the display: In HDR it has up to 1600 nits peak and up to 1000 nits sustained brightness. On non-HDR content it only pushes 500 nits. But there’s a workaround via third-party apps to get 1000nits also for non-HDR use.

    • @ColeCaccamise
      @ColeCaccamise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you for clarifying! I just recently saw an app that let you increase the brightness past what MacOS allowed, and just assumed the max was 1000nits and not 500

    you can customize when the fan will kick in to help with the thermal using something like iStat Menu. I use mine mostly in docking mode too and have set the fan to 2000rpm(essentially silent) when the battery >25Cº to extend the longevity of the battery. Without it my battery temp frequently goes above 30º. Also using the 32GB version of 16" model and I don't regret my decision :) cheers

    Great video homie 🙌 My mum had the mackbook ever since it came out and she loves it (she uses an iphone, ipad and airpods so it makes sense for her to get it). She had the macbook from 2014, and it's definitely a huge upgrade, especially with the fans. They don't get anywhere as loud as her old mac, and that's one of the things I noticed straight away. I also love how satisfying the trackpad and keyboard sounds. Like I said before, it feels so much better than any laptop I've used before. I still wouldn't get it as I'm using a Samsung galaxy and watch, though I still stand by what I said about the trackpad and keyboard. They're unlike any keyboard and trackpad I've ever seen and heard in any other laptop.

    • @ColeCaccamise

      Always appreciate the support brother. Fair point tho! Being in an ecosystem is a big reason to go for a certain product. That said I fully plan to review something like the xps or razer blades in the coming years

    1y ago I got my 1st MacBook - 16 inch M1 Pro 512gb base model. I preferred to extend the storage with sd card, and I regret this. I bought the official one recomended from apple - transcend jet drive 512g. I was thinking for air 13 m2, 16 m2 pro, or to wait for air 15. 13 is small for me, 16 m2 pro was 500euro more, and 15 air is little more cheap, so I went for the last year model 16. As no pro user this is ultimate pc for me! 10+h battery, really loud and clear sound, display that I had never imagined. CPU and GPU Speeds - more than needed for me. Used with Apple TV and iPhone - this is all you will need for everything.
    ps. For 1y use - almost everyday, the battery is 97% health. I trusted apple support recommendation to charge and use on battery, not to leave it plugged in the charger all the time, and when possible not to use the device when charging. At the same time I got iPhone 13 Pro Max on which I didn't took care of those recommendations. The phone now is at 83% battery. Is this correct to charge the device when not used and not to use it when charging?

    1 - daily usage and also for instances when i need to bring it to any other place, or cafe or hotel.... ??
    2 - also for my work i usually will need to open 10 or 15 Separate browsers at the same time , like not tabs but full explorers .... So i think i am gonna take 32gb of ram, but also was thinking maybe to pick 16 inch , because i think the size of the chase would prevent it from heating much... and to rest arms on keyboard , a i right?

    First off : i am a mac book pro 15 inch mid 2014 owner and an Iphone XR owner and i love them ! BUT :
    Apple needs to be taught a lesson and that lesson needs to be taught soon !!!
    People need to stop buying demonic Apple products for 1 year or maybe 2. Straight , no macs , iphones , heck , no adapters nothing!!!!
    Let me Explain :
    i love using logic pro BUT!!! they soldered the SSD onto the motherboard ever since 2016. I recently went to an apple certified repair shop and asked them : what if i get a m1pro macbook pro and as soon as the warranty expires , the ssd fails me . How do u go about repairing it ? They said it ll cost me a hefty sum cause they replace the whole board . I was like WhAT ? Like dayum , replace 5-6-7 parts just cause one don’t work , there ain’t nuthin logical about that . Another point is : on windows : 1tb ssd --> roughly 110$/€ . 2 tb --> roughly 2x 110 $/€ . @demonic-apple --> 2tb costs 800$ …?!?! What ? And you can t even replace it . I have a dream : :” that for 1 year straight up nobody buys any apple products , not even an adapter . Let s see those execs shit their pants and start asking questions like : oh my … what are we doing wrong ? To me they seem like money hungry apes that can not quench their thirst for money . It walks along the lines of unethical . There s isn’t even any real advantage to having the ssd soldered. I ve heard people say that it s faster . No it s not . We have the internet . Anybody can check the numbers and the speeds of different ssd s out there. Oh and just to put the cherry on top : iphone 13 : amazing processor and hardware but it s rocking the lightning port 🤣 usb 2.0 speeds . Apple 🍎 i really hope u get yours and the EU puts you in place with regulations on ports and on right to repair . They got hundreds of billions offshore like liquidities …. This got outta pocket a long time ago … out of their consumers pockets to be exact. They answer to no one and lack moral discernment . Take care y’all 😃🙏🏻🤗. But the processors are amazing and I respect the integration of the cpu and gpu and RAM 🐏 . Cause that actually wields a big boost in performance. I hope somebody serves them good .. money hungry apes 🦧
    And now they ship different iPhones with different chips. oh my God bruh... let's start this movement ... i m begging y'all let us all stop buying their products for 1 Year :)))))) it would be amazing

    • @stonejuststone1
      @stonejuststone1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ColeCaccamise I'm a professional photographer, that's something we learn how to do (color profiling) so that all your monitors match, and then you learn to profile the paper / printer so that what you see on screen perfectly matches the print. It's tedious, but you need a color profiler like the xrite (there's a few brands) and then they will all match. There's a few caveats, like cheap Samsung monitors where they don't allow you to adjust all the color profiles properly, but any professional monitor can be color calibrated, including the MacBook screen. The device will cost you $200-$500 depending on which one you get, how advanced etc. the least expensive is fine if it's new. Once they get old their color cites aren't as accurate so used ones are less useful. It's not neccessary for what you seem to do, really only important for professional printers, photographers, ad agencies, movie industry, etc., stuff where accurate color affects the outcome and off-color could be detrimental. Hope that was helpful. Good luck!

      Hey man, appreciate the support. Really sorry to hear that. I’m inclined to recommend 1TB for editing just because taking advantage of the internal ssd for editing off of will speed up your process. And if you’re streaming you may want to have some extra storage to store assets you’ll be using and potentially saved clips

    • @ColeCaccamise
      @ColeCaccamise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      But if you’re comfortable editing off an external drive then I’d say take the deal with your friend and go with the 512. It’s worth noting that I still have quite a bit of storage taken up by some clutter I have on my machine

    I dont know the answer to the question in the title, but I know the answer to "Did I make a click-bait video"?... please dont pay apple for 2TB storage. For that money or very close to that, you can get a thunderbolt RAID or just a NVME enclosure with a Samsung 980 Pro inside that you get to keep with you even if the Mac were to fail or you upgrade to next CPU in a year or so.

    You can't have a "base" model with 1TB. The base model has 512gb. Either you have the base model or you don't. The 1TB model has a much better performance due to faster SSD write/read speeds, so you cannot consider your experience to be the same for someone else wanting to know about the actual base model.

    • @ColeCaccamise
      @ColeCaccamise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m referring to the base model in terms of the ram and cores. Yes the drive will be faster than the 512GB but the difference isn’t enough that someone who doesn’t need a TB would want to buy it just for the speed.
