- Can we break 90? - EVERY SHOT Golf Vlog (Llanymynech Golf Club)
A round of golf at Llanymynech hilltop golf course in mid Wales. It's a very scenic par 70, 18-hole course that was 5873 yards from the men's yellow tees.
The green fees ranged from £25-45 for a round in August 2023. Buggies were priced at £30 and were much needed! The course was in great condition on this day and it was my first time playing it.

I'm James, a golfer with a dodgy swing playing off a 12.8 hcp (going up).
I've had a long layoff in 2023 with hardly any golf played for 4 months. So things are less stable on the scoring side right now.

Wikipedia info about this course:
Llanymynech Golf Course is situated atop Llanymynech Hill overlooking the villages of Llanymynech and Pant, approximately 9 miles (14 km) from Welshpool, right on the Welsh/English border. From the course it is possible to view 12 of the old 'shire counties', including Shropshire, Cheshire, Flintshire and Denbighshire. The course is also surrounded by sheer cliffs and steep banks. There is a section of Offa's Dyke on the western edge of the course, and the Offa's Dyke Path crosses the course.
A unique golf course
The course has a unique claim to fame since it straddles the English-Welsh border, with 15 holes in Wales and three in England. On holes one to four golfers tee-off in Wales, and then reach England on the fourth green. They remain in England until returning to Wales for the seventh tee.[1]
THE most relatable golfer on the internet! Love your humility and honesty. Keep up the good work
Cheers, thanks for watching 👍👍👍
Stopped enjoying golf for a while but coming back to loving golf i come back to this channel and the improvement is AMAZING you’ve honestly come so so far! Smashing it mate 🏌️♂️
Me and my 8 year old son love watching your videos - such a nice guy. Relatable golf mate !! Keep swinging 👍
Appreciate the honesty. That’s why I watch. Keep it up.
Great video James. You really do get to play some gorgeous courses. Helps make your videos so watchable. Hope your good form comes back soon 🤞
That's a proper 'Mountain Goat' course that. Looks awesome though. Your bad days are way better than my good days so well done for sticking at it.
Cheers man, thanks for watching :-)
Well done mate. Always chuffed to see a new upload!
Thanks for posting James. Interesting course.
Thx for your game and the beautifull views of your country
Thanks to you for watching 👍👍
Great Work again James !
Lovely looking course and not so far from Me & Mates
Great to see the content back regularly James 👍
Cheers Tom, thanks for watching 👍👍
Great video James. Absolutely love your relatable content aa always. Beautiful strike to take the camera out 😉😂
Nice vid….. lovely course. Don’t worry the game will come back pal👍🏻
What a Beautiful golf course!
One of your best vlogs James as always really enjoyable and honest thoughts on the course, now you know where to go and not to I certain your score with becat least 6 shots better, look forward to the next one.
Hilltop courses are always the toughest first time out 👍👍👍
Beautiful views, lovely course. Your videos are so relatable to so many of us ordinary golfers. You should do a “what’s in the bag” video some day. It would be interesting to see which clubs you use. Cheers Nd look forward to your next outing.
Lovely vid man 😊
The hit on the camera shot was so 😂 priceless. Cool that it's still OK. My setup had some drops and it broke the usb-c connection internally as the cable of the mic was connected. Great round. Awesome 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Lovely course, not too windy on the day, and it didn't rain ! what more do you want on your first visit. Go back soon and you'll do yourself justice, fingers crossed ! Cheers.
Great vid James. Looks a really nice course!
Cheers man, very scenic this one especially at the 12 tee box 👍👍
I often get rushed out even when i arrive early, intended pre round range goes up in smoke. Courses are crowded here in the states. Iv'e used that excuse often....Beautiful course, looks challenging. Enjoyed the bonus footage, nice to see behind the scenes....Very relatable as we all have those types of thoughts during a round.. Should consider including more of the bonus footage.....As always enjoyed the vid.
Great video James and a fantastic course.
Cheers Chris, thanks for watching 👍👍
Well James after seeing you violently take out your frustration on your camera, I had to laugh. I think I'm going to hit the 19th hole and reassess my whole approach to this game. I'm in between throwing my clubs in the pond or start gambling, I'm equally bad at both but at least at the Craps table I get free drinks! LOL... Let us know if we need to take up a collection for a new I phone camera for you. I love the beauty of the courses you play. Just got back from a trip to the Balkans, had to visit the in-laws. No golf courses in N. Macedonia and it was too hot at Porto Caras Greece to play that course. Back home in Washington now and looking forward to winter golf in the rain. Keep a stiff upper lip. Cheers!
The views off the elevated tee boxes are spectacular.
Llanymynech GC has elevated tee boxes in spades 👍👍
Played this course last year absolutely fantastic
It's definitely a unique place. All those dogleg par 4s are a great challenge. I'm already looking forward to going back! 👍👍
Thanks for the heads up on hole 8 James, still made me jump though!
Never done that before, and hopefully won't again! 👍👍
What a view!
I’ve been watching you for the last couple years you are the most relatable golfer on the Internet honest golfer
No retakes on this channel 👍👍👍
I've been looking for this video for a month now! I met you on the 3rd! Hi!!
Hope you like the video. Your course is amazing and I loved every minute playing there! 👍👍
Those Titleist hats are really nice. Ive had mine for 3 years now and I just realized there is a velcro pocket on the top of the inside liner.
From one James E to another, that black Titleist hat is superb!
£18 on Amazon 👍🏻👍🏻
This is real world golf , much prefer these to watching pro golf, thanks for posting
What a beautiful course
Right on the money. It was a shame my approach play was dog water on this day. Definitely looking forward to going back there!
Don't be so hard on yourself @@notaperfectgolfer3489
Really enjoyed this video. I go there about three times a year. We always do two rounds when we go there, and the first time I went there I lost eighteen balls, if it makes you feel any better about losing three balls. Just for the record, one of the members, who was in his twenties at the time, did some rounds for charity. He did five rounds in one day, running the first two, then if I remember correctly, he had a buggy for the other three rounds.
Cheers David, it's a great course and tough going the first time. I was going to play without a buggy initially. The plan was to play the front 9, chill out and have lunch and then play the back 9 all on foot. I'm very glad I didn't do this & that 5-round guy has my respect!
Very nice course and views..... makes me realise how cheap my course is here in NZ lol.
This is the first golf course I ever broke 100 on. Lovely to see it on the channel!
WOW, looks one hard course.
Hilltop courses are always tough the first time you play them 👍👍
Hitting the camera 😂😂😂 youtube gold.😂😂
As far as im aware, no penalty for accidental strike of your flag, kit or caddy, if not used as a back stop on purpose. Play ball from where it lies. Great vid.👍👍
I think the ball was only 6ft away after the camera hit. It wouldn't be right walking off with a par after that! lol :-)
In the words of 'not a perfect golfer', it's a funny old game.
There are plenty of bad breaks, so enjoy the good breaks. 🤣👌
Beautiful course, enjoyed watching,we all have hour bad spells in golf, and a long journey would not have helped, well played 👍
The penny will drop soon and everyone will start calling me a bandit again :-)
Great video. You got your first camera in one!😅
Just one of those days James. We all have them, love your content though 🙏🏻🇪🇸
James: your advice to make sure to wear good quality socks to walk the course in has been, hands down, the singularly most transforming golf tip I have received from TH-cam. Eternal thanks!
I definitely learnt this one the hard way. I really wish someone had given me this tip when I started! Glad to be of service 👍👍
Great video again James. I saw you were down on the booking sheets for Royal St David's a couple of weeks ago, do you have a video upcoming?
Yes, that was me. It's the next video :-)
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 great stuff, look forwards to it
Fabulous course really tough in wind. I’ve won here and also shot 100+ it’s that kind of course. Camera shot was amazing 😂
After the triple on the 11th things could have really got out of hand scoring wise. I was happy with the back 9 all things considered 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We need more videos and to see you back to you pre travelling best. Stick to your game and practice those short putts.
Ymlaen James! Diolch
On the 4th you can hit a mid iron to the corner of the dig leg, or a draw with a hybrid to get around tge corner or cut the corner with a three wood and get close to the green.
I tried to draw the hybrid but it was a pure snap hook 😬😬
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 been there ! My nemesis hole there is the 9th, you played it really well.
Really enjoyable video. Looks a fantastic course. You clearly are slightly off your game - lot of shots to the right. Do you think a lesson might help?
All the best. David
I'd like to change my swing to a full swing eventually so probably need a bunch of lessons. I'm reluctant to do this as I don't think I'm playing any golf this winter. Right now I'm just playing loads and loving it regardless of the scores! :-)
.55 great drive:)
I think I hit the downslope and got an extra 30 yards of rollout 👍👍
Great content and nice course. Get a gap wedge it will fill the gap between your sw and pw. I love my gap wedge and I highly recommend them
The 50° club I always have ignored in the past. My PW is 46° and the SW is 54°. I will probably look into this soon 👍👍
@@notaperfectgolfer3489having an eight degree gap in your scoring clubs is adding strokes to your game without a doubt. It just makes no sense.
I can recall when I completed my clubs with the gap wedge and aside of the fact it closed the gap it gave me mindful calmness as I knew that option was in the bag. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
@@metalheads-golf I also use my gap wedge for chipping and pitching around the greens. It is a very good club around the greens.
@@sgtcrofty2053 Absolutely around the green. Mine has the same bounce as my LW and is with 51° still lofty enough. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Lovely course but v v narrow fairways - tough!
Can’t wait to play it again 🙂
Enjoyed the video, delays and rushing always gets me flustered so stick with that story.
I wasn't late but didn't have enough time to hit in the nets. Just 5 minutes on the putting green then straight to the first tee!
What are using to get shot tracer with distance?
Shot Tracer Pro app for the tracers. I get the gps distances from the 'Golfshot' app 👍👍👍
I think I'd need to take a few extra sleeves!
Good idea! I usually take 6 balls just in case and was onto the second sleeve after 11 holes :-)
Nice course, there must be something wrong with me, i like to walk briskly playing golf, yes i can see the need for buggies but Walking keeps the body loose. Yes I am different.
Bucket hat, socks, style icon
I usually wear brown socks too but they were in the wash this day 😂😂😂
I believe you can play better than that, but on the day things didn't go for you. I admire your honesty, no editing like, I'm sure, some people do.. Very similar to my average game when you know you could have done better and feel that, if you went straight back out, you could knock at least 6 shots off. You accept the bad shots with a smile which is the key to enjoying your golf.
Cheers John, yeah this definitely was an off day but I still really enjoyed playing this unique course. The good thing about golf is you get all the health benefits no matter your score 👍👍👍
What a beautiful course. Thankfully you do not need to show your passport before you putt on hole #4. Of course that would be the perfect excuse for me to end a bad round of golf.
SPF 50. No sunburn just a sexy tan😉
I've not played golf for a few years, trying to restart after horrendous back issues and I'm wondering has the handicap system changed? There's no way this guy is a 12.8 handicap. Still enjoyed the video as it shows the pain high handicappers go through, but 12.8? Come on now. Even on a course you don't know, you should only be leaking 3 or 4 shots over that at worst. Anyone able to explain please?
Hilltop course pal. The first time out is sometimes like this. Good luck with your return to golf 👍👍👍
261 on that 1st drive??? Off balance and a half swing. IDK....
Rumour has it that Wales's second Most famous golfer is Not Perfect!??!....A little birdie told me 😉
I think Bradley Dredge is the second most famous 👍👍
@@notaperfectgolfer3489Gareth Bale mate !
I’d love to know how he can hit driver 100 yards longer than me with his swing
133mph ball speed on range balls here in this video th-cam.com/video/JEnSIA0yq14/w-d-xo.html
Normal balls go a bit further
Playing better now , proceeds to blade ball over green OB 90 yards out 🤦🏽♂️😂
Uneven lies 😬😬
I do enjoy your Videos James but mate, If you had a couple of lessons I think It would really improve your swing. Not a dig mate, Just some friendly advice. Keep up the videos.
Need to stick in more cards. Mate, you are a 20+ golfer at best.
I'd take everyone to the cleaners with a 20 hcp 😂😂
Luckely its Iphone 11...😂
Sorry but there is no way you are a 12.8 handicap
My average score is 89 and my handicap is 18
12.8 and you cannot break 90, come on
Never had a bad round then, Michael?
@@stephensaunders1845 Today
I'm also an 18 handicap. He's seems to a nice guy but something doesn't seem right with these videos.
No way are you a 12 handicap. More like 23
Stated at the start he was struggling!! Ignorance is truly bliss. Why bother with the negative comment? Makes you feel better about yourself?
A 12 handicap doesn’t mean you are a great golfer. He films all his rounds and shows every shot with no cheating. We’ve seen his scores and know he’s a 12 handicap but not playing near his best.
The round comes in at a 20.1 score differential, as far as I can tell.
I am a 7.6 and I have had one of those over the last year. Can't really judge a handicap based on one round. Does sound a iittle low based on what I saw, though.
Looking back it's strange nobody has commented on how weak my approach play was in this round. I was in prime position from 80-130 yards multiple times and every single one missed the green! I wasn't practicing on the range enough and this has now been addressed 👍👍👍
Your chipping stance is terrible aiming way left of target to come over the top , easy too hit a shank that way and learn to hit bump and run
👍👍
Anybody with a sensible head on understands that golf is a waste of a good walk, and any ametures who think they can play are even more dilusional.
I prefer this one: "Golf is a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose." (Winston Churchill) 👍👍👍
Most definitely not a 12.8 handicap, to be honest more like 20.
I'd take everyone to the cleaners with a 20 hcp 👍🏻👍🏻
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 I'm only going by the way you played that course. With a 12.8 should have been 85ish.
@@terryrasmussen4013 You only play to your handicap 20% of the time. So "should" is a bit wrong.
CR/Slope for this course gives him a course handicap of 14 from the yellow tees. On a par 70. So playing his handcap would be an 84. He shot 10 worse. Not unheard of. But I would agree that it did look a little worse than just a bad day.
Not playing +13 for 9 holes you won't. Cheating yourself mate.
The shot tracer doesn't seem accurate. No way he's driving the ball 250-290. He says it's roll out but I'm not buying it. Almost PGA level with his putting in most of his videos!?!? Easy to do if you're taking a few practice putts before you film. Just look at the clouds when he putts. A long time from set up to actually putting. I'm done watching this guy. .
