Pad benching will do nothing to make you run faster… train the biomechanics of running if you want to run faster. You could train your nervous system doing the same thing with a back workout that would translate better to running than benching is? I like how your example is an Olympic runner from 20 plus years ago funny how you couldn’t find any current world class sprinters doing it 🤔? The rest of the things could be helpful.
Search for any brazilian BJJ or Judo training before the proper technique training and sparring. Also, soccer training uses alot of trainings with bands and stuff, could help too.

Let me see the 40/100/200 times of his athletes before and after he started training them before I take any of this seriously. If you want to get fast do speed ladder drills, get a light sled, and work on your sprinting mechanics. the cleaner your sprinting form the more power you’ve built from training in the gym will be translated through your body to the ground propelling you faster.
Well, I was 16 years old when I saw Ben Johnson run in the Olympics for the first time… I told my dad that he was using enhancing drugs… he told me no way it’s tested … I insisted and said he was using and low and behold ..he WAS!

Alot of times in rugby people would fail to immediately put me on the ground but would be able to grab jersey or shorts which led me to keep running while dragging a body. 6'4" 285 4.8 40
