    Of course with every redesign cars get wider and longer ... this Accent doesn't look so 'sub-compact' anymore ...

      It's considered a compact car now, and the Elantra is considered a midsize car now lol

    Great review and a great little car. I actually think it looks better than an Elantra and as good as the Sonata in its own way. I like the tightness of the design. My old 1984 Honda Civic only had 75 HP; the Accent has 130 and has about 5 more cubic feet of interior space than the 84 Honda. The 1995 Camry only had 125 HP, and people thought that was enough for that midsize sedan. The new Accent is now officially a "compact car", not a "subcompact car according to the EPA. In truth, it is big enough for most families. Think of all the families of five that made do with a Volkswagen Beetle during the 1960s. Now everyone wants a war wagon with all wheel drive, a big engine, and a giant gas tank.

    Looks great, but I wish the US got the hatchback as well! Sedans in this class don't make much sense to me as they require extra length for a trunk which makes it more of a compact anyway. Plus it's generally less practical than the hatch sibling, and rear headroom might be compromised. Obviously it boils down to preference and needs but if you're looking for value, the hatch is the clear choice.

    • @knowbodiesfull5768
      @knowbodiesfull5768 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Graham Jefferson We already get the Elantra GT hatchback, so therefore, there is no need for an Accent hatchback anymore

    I wish the hatch manual with optional features were available here in the U.S.
    No one offers what I want, so I went with exactly what I didn't- a CVT automatic, sedan, and a stoic driving car. A 2016 Toyota Corolla S Premium. If I can't have what I want, might as well settle all out in the opposite direction.

  • @mwwhatever
    @mwwhatever 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    seriously? Once again the US doesn't get the hatchback version?

    • @jasonbrown8944
      @jasonbrown8944 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once again? We've been getting the hatchbacks for the last couple generations, so as far as I know, it's only the 2018's and up where we won't get one. The Kia Rio will still be offered in both sedan and hatch models, so that's good at least. Coincidentally, the Rio hatch looks almost identical to the European Hyundai i20, which is actually the starting point for Hyundai's WRC...

    • @ThisGuyRides
      @ThisGuyRides 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Civic is a compact, a size class up from Accent. Other subcompacts like Versa and Yaris don't have IRS either.

    • @MOTOFLIXGARAGE
      @MOTOFLIXGARAGE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This Guy its ok to pay a little extra for a Japanese import with loads of features rather than spending hard earned money for a car that looks good but doesn't have sporty handling, at least the previous generation accent had all Independent suspension and it was a group B rally car.

    • @MOTOFLIXGARAGE
      @MOTOFLIXGARAGE 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This Guy not sure why companies are avoiding independent suspension in budget cars, at least Tata Nano and Suzuki Esteem had Independent suspension, even the previous generations Hyundai elantra had link type independent rear suspension. It's not that expensive to produce and off course it improves handling and safety

    I bought a 2009 hyundai accent hatchback brand new.I have been driving it for ten years in canadian winters.It does not have any rust at all.It has 186000 klms on it and it runs perfect.It still has the original brakes and exhaust system.It is a really well made car that i still like driving.If i needed a new car i would buy the new accent hands down.

  • @nodak81
    @nodak81 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Weird that they seem to be making the Accent superior (looks and features) to the Kia Rio. They used to be twins more or less. Now the Rio seems kind of inferior after watching reviews of both, although you can still get the Rio in a hatchback in the US.

      I prefer the colour temperature of halogens, but the higher efficiency of the newer tech is compelling, and of course, not having to replace the bulbs periodically is convenient too. OK, more light doesn't hurt either.
