I know I sound like just a greedy fan, but I NEED more of this. Kanami now needs to write her own song in this style. Another new dimension to The Maids.

This melody was written in England in the 1500s allegedly by King Henry 8 - he of the many wives. It is in any case a traditional English aire and how Kanami chose it is a story in itself. Of course they do it more than justice and if she/they can follow this up they will have a huge hit. As ever respect and awe.

I was just listening to the original version of it on the Genshin soundtrack this weekend. My wife and daughter are both players of the game, so I've heard these pieces a few times just driving around. Very fun.
This is beautiful. These ladies can literally play anything and sound good. On this they all get to be expressive but do it in an interesting and restrained way. I hope for their next full-length they take somewhat of a Conqueror approach and play a variety of songs, but really I'm happy with anything they decide to do. Only six more days!
Audio in video games is almost and and in some cases as important as graphics. Diablo 2 was the first PC video game I have ever played and that was on a shitty lap top and the Tristram village music in the background still plays in my dreams sometimes, almost 20 years later... I can guarantee you there are going to be people that play this game that have an emotional connection to the world just because of the music and Band-Maid just amplified that for them X10.
I think if they did any more of their own style, you wouldn't have known what the song was. I think the did it perfect. You could tell it was the original but different.
If I recall correctly, but many years ago a version of "Greensleeves" was taught in Yamaha's school of music's beginner classical guitar class in my country. I recognized it instantly. Awesome !
I just want to make clear for those who dont know: this is not greensleeves. Although it is inspired by and sounds very similar, if you actually listen you'll realise the notes are in fact different and this theme (a variation on "dawn winery theme") even has its own section that's completely unique from greensleeves. The credit should go to Yu-Peng Chen and of course Band-Maid for this amazing rearangement and cover.
I know that it is technically a different song, but it's similar enough that I think it would legally be classified as plagiarism if Greensleeves weren't in the public domain.
On another note, Young Guitar Magazine has a CC version of an interview with Marty Friedman, Takayoshi Ohmura and Ichika Nito that you guys might like to see. Only 2 of the 4 are translated so far though.
The song is Green sleeves a medieval song but what Band-Maid have done to it is out of this frikin world. This is why I love Band- Maid and I’m 62 years old they play the best rock I have ever listened to long live Band-Maid.
When I listen to songs like this, I think that BAND-MAID is a truly excellent band. The girls present us with top-notch music in all aspects of performance and arrangement. Kanami's chalking, agrement, cadenza, everything is wonderful. However, one thing we should be aware of is that this recording mix (probably) does not reflect Kanami's will at all. And in this PV, a unified and common sense general sound mix by the staff throughout this PV is made. In this recording mix, each instrument has a hierarchy, which makes the sound image three-dimensional, and as a result, we can clearly grasp the sound image of each instrument. The difference between this mix and mixes of BAND-MAID's more recent tracks may not be noticeable to those who only listen through headphones. In other words, since this Genshin Impact is a game, it is set to be listened mainly through speakers, but it is possible that the production side of BAND-MAID's new song was set to be listened mainly through earphones. Maybe. Even so, Kanami and Miku's guitars are in parallel, and even the drums are on the front line, and the recent BAND-MAID's horizontal sound mix just detracts from the value of the song. I think The new song "from now on" could have been even better if it had been mixed by the engineers of "Greensleeves". Well, maybe because Kanami stayed home for too long due to COVID, this "from now on" has become a typical "too much addition sound", Because of that, this sound is too fat, and I don't feel the coolness of the tightness at all, so even if the recording is adjusted a little, my impression may not change much.
Greensleeves is one of my parents' favorite melodies so that for me this is recognizable, hence it's nice to know that the Maids can also cover songs inspired from days of olde, long before any of our great great grand parents were ever born. Also nice to hear it somewhat in the style of Santana, the Ventures & maybe a tiny hint of Spanish flamenco, etc I would also like to get Saiki to sing to this as well, if there is not a lyrical version idk. Now we need Maid rock/metal covers of Mozart & Wagner. As far as Champ listening to Maid stuff in his car, perhaps build a new EQ'd & headspaced mix off the original music that is then tuned/balanced to his car's volume & speakers, then burn a new CD or what have you with the new sonic adjustments just for that listening environment. At least it's one way to experiment & you get to learn your DAW's features a little more.
Yup this theme is from Genshin impact and its was inspired from greensleeves But if you listen to these 2 , its completely different melody but its just give familliar vibes. So this Theme credit must go to Yu-peng chen who composed this
It sounds similar to "Greensleeves" but it's not quite. In E minor, the first phrase of Greensleeves is E G A B C B A F# D E F# G E E D# E F# D# B, (with the appropriate rhythm) while Kanami plays B, E B B A G A F# D E F# G (G-A-G) F# E F# D B, (Kanami plays it in B minor, though). Then, when they get to the refrain (in the Christmas carol "This, this is Christ the King ...") and MISA takes over, she does something completely different (although it might fit the usual chords, I haven't checked).
The memory that this brings out of me as a kid in the 70's, is that the Ice Cream van that serviced our little suburb, played Greensleeves over the PA speaker. Not quite like this though.
Henry Viii wrote Greensleeves. But before he beheaded yet another Queen he was quoted as saying. Only one Band will ever improve on my melody and that is Band Maid. If only I heard them earlier I would not have beheaded so many wives.
Yup this theme is from Genshin impact and its was inspired from greensleeves But if you listen to these 2 , its completely different melody but its just give familliar vibes. So this Theme credit must go to Yu-peng chen who composed this
The talk of MP3 players at the end makes me laugh a little bit, I recently put my entire catalog of Band-Maid on Mini-Disc for some reason, I guess I like the format and having physical media to flip through is kind of satisfying... I feel the compression on MD is slightly better the MP3, but no scientific proof of that.
It really is a fantastic rendition and it makes me really want to hear Band-Maid do some more styles throughout their albums! Talking of the mix, I actually have to skip Band-Maid songs relatively often because they sound aweful on various setups (at work, parties etc.). It does almost sound like there is a static because it all mushes together into noise which is kinda sad; it also makes it harder to show them off to friends. One of the comments said "Car Stereo is the worst place to listen to music", I couldn't disagree more. If you have a very low end speaker setup, yes. If you have decent speakers and a decent head it is amazing; even just a cheapish head from a good manufacturer, some mid-range speakers setup nicely - and some sound insulation - will do wonders. I rigged my cousins car out with a 12" sub and 4 JL audio speakers with a quality Sony head and it is one of the best music listening experiences I have ever had.
In game, they're cannibal maids at that mansion. lol! I like this song a lot, but the cameramen obviously don't know anything about music. They're focusing on whoever's moving the most, instead of who's playing the important part.
Gentlemen. That was a great discussion on the sound quality of the albums from band maid. Gave me a pause to think why upon the first couple times I listened to Unleash, no of the songs struck a chord with me. Too much happening in the songs. A band can make a song/album to complex or play too damn fast. I did love the this song.
As a Band-Maid fan and a non-Genshin player, I have to say this is not a cover of "Greensleeves." This is a cover/rearrangement of a Genshin Impact song composed by Yu-Peng Chen. There are still differences from "Greensleeves" even though it probably influenced it. To so many comments, let's please not take away credit from Genshin's composer. If someone new to Band-Maid said "Take me higher" is a good Nickelback cover... (they're different). Wouldn't that get old to hear?
Most hymnals will have the tune and meter documented somewhere on the page. Many tunes are used multiple times with different lyrics. "What Child is This" (words by William Dix) gets used with the tune GREENSLEEVES and uses the meter 8.7 8.7 with Refrain.

On Band Maid's studio production: It's suddenly envogue to compress the crap out of the whole mix. MAYBE it's happening during the mastering but the highs and lows are getting squeezed out. Some of that is because of lazy engineers who don't know how to eq each instrument to fit the frequency spectrum.
The recording engineers know how to make excellent recordings. But, they are directed by the Producers, who want a mix that sounds good on cheap stereos.
@@dharmachile999 I've been in enough studios to know that engineering abilities are as widespread as that of FOH guys. Some are absolutely tone deaf and mix according to the meters. How those types stay employed is a mystery for the ages.
The guitar sound is that of a PRS Custon 24- no shit. No better guitar currently. The melody is similar to the song Greensleeves. This was a 'dynamic arragement'- each movement increasing in intensity, just like their song Awkward. The memorable thing about Game of Thrones was how to screw a whole series by producing the most rubbish final episode- it happens alot in series like that. I only have CD's because they are produced properly. How do you expect 2nd or 3rd hand copies to be good- only cheap and convenient.
Just want to point out that the sound mastering is key, regardless of media used. Many of the CD's issued in the US during the early years of CD were very poor audio quality. Reason is 2nd, 3rd, even 4th generation dupes were used as the master mix. This became apparent when reissues marketed as "from original master tapes" started to appear.
I feel that BAND-MAID's CD is not in the best condition with a little noise and muddy sound quality. When I played the MV of "Unleash" on Blu-ray, I felt the sound quality improved.I want to listen to past albums on Blu-ray audio.
