As a new Maidiac as of December 2024, Akane's drumming is literally music to my ears! Every Band-Maid member is a stellar gem that excites me each time I hear them. Akane's drum beat is the heartbeat of each song and her smile brings joy to my heart in every performance. Thank you Ohrenje for this wonderful documentary! Her kick drumming is insane, it sounds like machine gun fire. When you impress Jimmy Page, you are a kick ass drummer who (like the rest of the band) has the passion and drive to succeed. We love our human Gorilla 😁

Before the videos of the ladies, they should actually show a warning saying 'CAUTION: HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS', because that's what it is. I don't know how many times I caught myself grinning after seeing Akane smile. Even at moments when I didn't feel like it at all. There aren't many people who can do that to me almost every time. And the fact that she's non-stop, taking on one challenge after another, and making the result of it look so effortless, I find deeply impressive and inspiring. ✨ _____________________ 「 _'Our rock never dies ever. In honor of Akane, I wore an Asuka T-shirt to the concert at the Neptune. The red color of her signature drum kit is based on her figurine of Asuka (Neon Genesis Evangelion), unfortunately, she had a blue rental drum kit for the show.
i call her the happiest drummer alive. she puts seasoned drummer to shame, not only with how effortless she makes everything she does look, but by how much fun she clearly has doing it. so very few drummers will be smiling through a performance the way she does, they're usually grimacing and straining. if Akane is struggling, she is never going to let you know it lol i love her energy
Once again a wonderfull and acurate work. One more thing to add is about her drum kit: many would judge it "small" if you compare with some of the huge drumkits many rock drummers are using. But it makes what she does with it even more impressive - if possible! Oh ... and I want to hear her playing trombone once in my lifetime, even a few notes - not you?
Wow! What a great documentary about one of the very top tier drummers playing today. Akane's skill set is unbelievable and the way she is able to seamlessly integrate her drumming to expertly serve the song is nothing short of breathtaking. She makes it all look so deceptively easy and fluid that there can be a tendency to forget just how amazingly well she performs with the rest of her outstanding bandmates on stage. But listening to Akane's intricate patterns and expression of emotion while augmenting the other band members instruments reveals a true joyous master at work.
I gained a whole new apprieciation for Akane at Aftershock in Oct. She was doing her sound check and the crowd would cheer. Each time, she would do a little more and the cheers grew. She almost went into a full drum solo before the performace started!
Brilliant video once again. Akane-sensai has so much enthusiasm and talent for the drums that what she has delivered through band-maid has inspired me to get a kit and learn the drums myself, even got the double pedals too, with the goal of one day being able to play Warning. Thank You Akane for being the best, not just the best drummer... but the best example!
For what little it's worth, it was Akane's drumming on the live version of "Onset" that hooked me on Band-Maid. I hadn't heard drumming that distinctive since Bonham passed. That made me pay close attention to the rest of the band who also proved to be extremely talented. Thank God for Band-Maid
Thank God for Akane, I've played for over 20 years and couldn't be more stoked that she's likely inspiring women off all ages and walks of life to stick with it. She's a shredder, and can probably take me in a battle.
And then you have Black Hole. I'd like to add that the rhythm of Akane's bass drums combined with Misa's growling, funky bass guitar, gives Band Maid their weight and power. It's a huge part of their sound and the pair complements each other perfectly. The spirits of John Bonham and Chris Squire live on in Band Maid and are smiling down on these extremely talented ladies.
Officially the most cheerful drummer in the world. Anyone who can use disco and jazz style drumming in a hard rock song of three to four minutes like Akane does and have it sound like she does, is not just a drummer. Even the other members say that they noticed her evolution over the pandemic period where she basically re-taught herself to increase her speed, power and efficiency. Like all the other members she is a favourite of mine.
Bravo! Please don't delete this video ever🙏 Thank you for the wonderful introduction to AKANE. I'm not a musician, but I was captivated by the feeling that "She sounds different." Every time I read their interview articles, AKANE mentions the sound quality and technique of the drums every time, so I feel that "She is a serious hard worker." I can't help but respect her💕

Got hooked on Band Maid and Akane's drumming when I first heard Glory. Bought Conqueror album, got to #7 track Wonderland..... to any drummer peeps out there, I've never heard in all my 38 years of life and 24 years of drumming what I heard her play going into the third chorus. Who else but Akane could ever just bang out 16th notes on the crashes, as if they were the snare drum and make it work. It takes a beautiful, musical and either bold or crazy mind to actually make that idea work as well as it does.
This is fantastic - thanks for taking the time and effort to put this together. Perfect timing too - I just saw Band-Maid live in San Francisco on 10/14, and Los Angeles on 10/15, so I got to experience the magic first-hand. Akane is my favorite drummer for all the reasons mentioned in this video, and I have been promoting her and Band-Maid to everyone I know, and to new people that I meet.
Yeah I think most people don’t realize that Akane only started drumming when she was 17/18? She started late, but that certainly didn’t handicap her in anyway!
I the expressions on Akane's face as she plays - always with a big smile and a laugh. You'd figure she'd be out of breath from how hard she plays. Is it just me or does Akane rival Saiki's beauty? All the Maids have their own unique charm and beauty. All this and great music too!
Like the other members of Band-Maid, Akane is such a hard-working person -- ever improving her playing skills. Long may Kanami push her to new heights.

Akane is the backbone of this incredible talented band! No doubt about that... In many ways, socially, musically and is the "speaker" of this band with MIKU and it is important to have such people in an group, i do not only appreciate her drumming skills, i also appreciate her as a person and that tells IMO a lot about Akane.
Very informative. Out of curiosity has any Band-Maid member commented on your documentaries or Logo? It surprisingly depicts each member accurately especially the power trio. I can picture in my head Kanami going Weeee! as she rushes to hug Saiki from behind.
Nice to know Mincho is a fan of Larry Carlton. I finally got around to listening to Larry Carlton's room 335 because I was a huge fan back in the day and did not recognize the title. I realized that it was one of the songs I listened to regularly... on my walkman. Since I didn't carry the cassette case I never remembered song titles.
Great little documentary! I love these so far! Of all members of the band Akane is my favorite. Mostly because she radiates so much happiness and energy when she plays and as the bands backbone together with Misa she is solid as a rock. They are all quirky, fun and cute so you can't do anything else than love them! I never heard Akane sing before so that was an extra treat, thanks for that! 😄 She have a good voice too so I would love to hear more from her. Looking forward to the next video! Thanks oncec again-great overview. My admiration for Akane started out high, and grows every time I listen to her hitting those skins! I'm sure experts can argue that this or that drummer is "better" than Akane but she's right up there, especially when you consider her perfect choices in every song the band performs.

He's amazingly eloquent and well spoken,,,(some of these non-native English speakers can put the rest of us to shame !) It was educational to hear his rich understanding and sincere empathy...it really allows us to hear better !! Akane is sooooo beautiful,------ her awful bandmates just had to call her a gorilla !

again..... my eyes are itchy. No pulling "The Best drummer stuff." Akane is a great drummer and intertwined with other great drummers. But I will say that she is the best that I have heard in a long time. (I will afford myself THAT luxury. lol.)
