The songs already released earlier in the year are just Band-Maid awesomesauce! The six new songs are so tightly integrated and complex, it's going to take a Tokyo minute to assimilate. But I already love Forbidden Tale, and especially The One. 😉🤘 btw - We should all wish a "Good Luck" to Band-Maid's new self-run management company: Maidit, Co., LTD! Will they managing other bands, boost Cluppo and Maiko projects, or tour more internationally? Or maybe they will expand their business interest to other sectors of the music biz outside of Band-Maid. I believe Kanami wants to get more into composing, scoring and production. And as for Miku and Saiki, the sky's the limit for what they'll want to do in merch, fashion and art, etc.. Thx, G-Men!

The whole song came about as Saiki has been looking into the history of the Arts and its contributors. The forgotten or "forbidden tales" that aren't readily available from the institutional history books but are there for the one really searching. Notice the fingers touching from Michelangelo's Creation. Incidentally both the verse and chorus repeat after the Ready to Know bridge but are underscored by a shewed chord progression, turning it to the relative major. Reminds me of something Yes did back in the day of "Yours is No Disgrace."

  • @jeffersoncosgrove1910
    @jeffersoncosgrove1910 วันที่ผ่านมา

The thing with the Crown Stones era is that it seemed that Saiki was always forced to sing everything "straight," (like a pop song) even though she would have an entirely enthusiastic performance live, full of all sorts of inflection and grit. I think it's part of the reason for the adage, "Live Maid is the best Maid." That was also due to the very narrow EQ they gave her in the studio. I haven't felt that at all with the Pony Canyon releases. She actually gets a full voiced rock EQ, versus some narrow, stylized pop voice and I love it and the expressiveness granted her.

That "sinister" guitar riff that Alan is talking about reminds me a lot of 1950's jazz rock, where there is a blue note somewhere in the sequence. It has the same vibes as the The Munsters theme & the Peter Gunn theme, maybe even some 1960's beatnik & surf music & stuff like that. 10/19/24

I've watched a number of reactions to this song and no one seems to notice a few things. That noise just as color comes in and announcing the change. To me it sounds like a mortar round dropping and the sound played in reverse, just my opinion. Miku playing the descending chords leading out of the jazz section. Normally Kanami would play this, but I think they wanted Miku's Zemaitis 5150 unique sound to clear out of the jazz. Just my opinions but nobody seems to notice them.

  • @SagaciousTwo

C'mon Guys, the pause in the middle, Saiki says "Let me hear your voice" and silence. It is an invitation to the crowd to cause structural damage.

One of the bartenders at my local micro-brewery tasting room plays baritone sax in the Operators, a ska band out of Indianapolis. She saw Hey-Smith play at the Supernova Ska festival in Hampton, Va. in September. She said they had off-the-hook energy and that the sax player broke 5 neck straps during their set. Their first album was released in 2009. So, they have been around a while.

The song is a rhapsody, so it's different from start to finish compared to the rest of their output so far. Not many rock bands have something similar in their discography. The girls are still brave enough to keep challenging themselves.

This song can be interpreted in different ways but I felt this "story" involves everyone of us. Us as people, as fans, them as people and as a band. It also is about music. I wonder if there were so many more things that were going through in Saiki's mind when she wrote this lyrics than she let out. First there was a story (legend) that was already here even before we were born. But it could be unforeseen destiny. It seems so far and out of reach now but I can feel you by my side. "You" can be anyone or anything. When we are going through difficult time we reach out to someone or something to take us out of the darkness. Everybody thinks they know our story but nobody really know it because it's our own. When heartless remarks push you to the limit, don't hide it and scream for help, let me hear your voice. This part could mean how music helps us through rough times. You heard the tune for the first time and yet can almost feel the music close to your heart even if the composer of the song's long gone. That jazzy breakdown has the feel of uncertainty. The crowd cheering could've been placed after the following verse. Now it's about them as a band striving to get the recognition and want us to witness them going further. And they become the band to reach out to us with the music that help us and take us out of darkness. Don't forget they are here with us right now. Hope this song will stay in people's mind and be loved for hundreds of years. Nobody can stop us from going forward. We all want our existence recognised, we want more shining moments, we are alive and have unlimited potential. And will be guided towards destined future.

Saiki has said the inspiration was listening to older music but new for her. She got to thinking about music and stories suppressed throughout history. Those stories have become the manifestation of the author's life. Saiki hopes their music becomes their testament.

My favorite Band-Maid song. The arrangement feels like something done for a classical composition, i could see it performed with an orchestra and choir. It blows me away everytime. They really let the emotion of the song take center stage, even over their musicianship - every note is played to stress the emotion of it all. I believe Akane said they tried to keep the rhythm section less cluttered so they wouldn't get in the way of it. I hope they explore this type of sound more.

    • @Kevin6059

It does have some similarities for sure. Instead of a standard rock/pop format, it mixes that with the idea of introducing motifs that are revisited throughout.

Forbidden Tale is a complex song as Band-Maid knows how to do so well. But it is, IMO, the most accomplished, the most perfectly realized in the sense that Kanami wanted to do it. By this I don't mean that it's the ultimate song or that it can't do anything better. Because what will such a genius be capable of doing in the future? To this I have no answer.

Sounds like some might have been getting bored with the Band-Maid formula? I get it, but for me it's always been what they do within that formula that makes them special. It's nice to have some switch-ups of course, but one could see someone saying the same thing about an album of songs like this: "Yeah, they have the chorus placed somewhere weird, and then the random genre breakdown and a verse. Getting kinda used to it, tbh. We get it: you're not doing the usual rock song structure." Then they have to do like an album of droning tones or something. Just like it's nice to have a movie out-of-sequence every now and then, there's a reason most films follow the three-act structure. I think it's the same thing with song structure.

The intro background "sinister" chords could easily be the basis of a James Bond soundtrack. Also, my symbolic interpretation of the recurring prominent riff in the song can be seen as the solid block (the band itself) around which the somewhat random events of life revolve and the central break with crowds sounds are a live evocation of it.

That’s why I don’t like group reactions. Someone always interrupts the video (to tell a not funny joke) as song barely starts and ruin the flow of the others and maybe also of some people who’s hearing the song for the first time during your reactions (lucky I’ve heard this song before.). Alan is often guilty. Dude, I prefer your solo analysis, at least you’re a bit more professional and serious.

In Meshuggah’s defense they were one of the first ones to have that Djent sound. Bands like Periphery, Animals As Leaders, kinda evolved from them. It even found its way into modern metalcore. I also enjoyed Black Sabbath more with Dio in it 😂
