    This was helpful. I grabbed koala because I was gonna be away from the studio and wanted to try something new and I’ve been having a blast with it. Simple but powerful.

      Thanks for checking me out. Koala replaced Ableton and Sp404 for me. It’s too convenient to be able to quickly sample off TH-cam or Spotify and immediately be chopping all from your phone or tablet

    great video! could you make a video explaining how to arrange/perform/export a full track or set? i get a lot of cool ideas and loops like this but mainly i struggle to make a track out of it and i know it is a hard topic too. maybe you already explained some of that in one of your videos but i did not see it. anyways, very inspirational. thank you

      Hey thank you so much for watching and commenting! I’ve been wanting to make a single in-depth video on beginning to end making a track in Koala so this was a good reminder. If you want your loop to be interesting for 2+ mins like a song would be, then you have to keep adding and removing elements, so it keeps things sonically interesting. One sequence should have no drums, another drums but maybe switch up the chop arrangement, another sequence maybe just percussive drums but no kick and snare or bass. You can take your loop and deconstruct it to build out the rest of the track, a loop with no drums can work as an intro, a bridge, and an outro

    Sorry, I just broke the symmetry of your 888 subscribers.... loving your vibes, thanks for doing this. I've had many different samplers from back in the olden times, but Koala continues to inspire. I love the portability, visual feedback and simplicity of the interface.

      Lol thanks for the subscribe Herman I saw the 888 earlier and it def was oddly satisfying but one step closer to 1k! Yup Koala really is dope I ended up selling off my SP404sx awhile back to fund the new iPad and I have zero regrets. I know I’ll have the SX again anyway in the future but it allowed me to go all in with Koala

    • @BirdBoss
      @BirdBoss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the words! Really depends on the feel you’re going for. 84 smooth hiphop, 90 boom bap, 100-110 can be anything from chill dance to pop to indie, 115-120 house / disco, 140 trap, drill, EDM. There’s no real hard or fast rule but that’s a good starting point. Pitch the sample up or down as you change BPMs and see what sounds good to you

    What now? You make a beat like this, but then what do you do next with it?

    • @BirdBoss
      @BirdBoss  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      All depends, if I think it would fit a rapper I put it in a folder I’ll send out at a later date. I might put it together with beats I’ve made around the same time frame to compile into a beat tape, or I might just let it collect dust until something presents itself where I could use it.

    Can you explain to me the part where you said you chop on the kick and the snare?

    • @BirdBoss
      @BirdBoss  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So to make a long story short I listen for the kick and listen for the snare, and that’s where I place my chops. If you count along with a sample like “1, 2, 3, 4; 1, 2, 3, 4” the kick will generally be (but not always) on the 1 and the snare will be on the 2. So when I chop my samples I chop on the 1 and 2; the kick and snare

      @@BirdBoss so when you chop them, how do you get it sound like a cohesive loop? Is that through experimentation? Or is there like an exact science? Sorry if the question is dumb, I just started making beats 2 weeks ago

    @illsakc 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    wait how did you put it to one shot without collapsing each chop?

    • @BirdBoss
      @BirdBoss  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If I’m understanding the question, Hold edit as you’re selecting the pads, then you can set them all as one shot. Also add each to the same choke so they cut each other off and don’t all play at once.

    I'm a Brazilian trying to make some Beats on Koala Sampler. I activate automatic subtitles in your videos and with that I can learn a little. But I confess that I still don't feel safe to make an instrumental... I think what bothers me is not knowing how to cut the Samples in a way that I can reuse them. Does the way you did it in this video work many times? Do you have any other suggestions?

    • @BirdBoss
      @BirdBoss  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks so much for watching 🖤 There’s no right or wrong way to chop samples, my suggestion is making a simple drum beat in koala and turn up the swing. Then click a sample you want to chop, go into tools and hit auto chop and let Koala chop it for you (I like to use playthrough and all the samples on choke 1). Let koala chop the sample for you while you learn how to hit the samples in rhythm with your drums and just keep practicing, after a few weeks you’ll start to develop your own technique ✌️

    How to you pick the bpm to record in?

    • @BirdBoss
      @BirdBoss  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Checkout my 130bpm video, I go into tempo a little more in-depth but basically around 84-90bpm you’re going to have a boom bap swing, 120 is more dance. There’s really no rules though but that’s a good place to start
