Slitting allows the dough to expand in an orderly fashion rather than just split in an ugly manner. TIPS if your oven is fan forced and you don't have a steam function, throw 1/2 cup of cold water in the bottom of the oven to create steam jusy b4 you put the loaf 8n. This helps the dough to rise before the fan forms a hard crust. Also, rather than adding flour to sticky dough, oil the bench top AND your hands. Adding raw flour at this stage will toughen your loaf.

They are really good tips, thanks so much for sharing them with me. My oven is fan forced so I’ll definitely be trying the water. I hope you enjoyed the video. Thanks for supporting my channel 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

When I got my tm6, I didn't think I would use it for baking as I didn't trust making bread in a blender. After seeing how easy it was to make cookies, I will try bread next. My first bread will be Tangzhong Milk Bread. Wish me luck!

Slitting the bread is a way to control what direction it rises in the oven during the "oven spring" phase. If you don't slit it yourself it can burst or crack in unexpected ways.

I’m in midst of making this Portuguese bread. My first time trying this recipe. Mixing, weighing and kneading all done in my T6. I let it double in size in my oven( fermentation mode). Dough is still inside. I’m glad I came here n learn something new. I’ll definitely put a cup of water in my oven when baking. Keeping my fingers crossed that the bread will turn out fine. Thanks for the video. Gives me more confidence.

Making bread in the tm6 is so easy and much less daunting. I’m glad you’ve picked the cup of water tip up. I’m also very happy that you have given this a try and that my video has helped give you the confidence to do so. You have to let me know how it turned out for you. This recipe for the water bread is our go to here at home, i have been making it for years. It is a good idea to add a small container with water to the oven as you bake your bread to help it rise and make it fluffy. Happy baking. 😊

Hiya. Sorry, I should remember to state temps if they are fan temps or not. My oven is fan assisted, so 250 it is then. I hope it works out for you, I’d love to know. Thanks for stopping by and supporting my channel 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

Hi Richie, just letting you know I made this yesterday, it was beautiful Golden & crusty but doughy (dense) inside, it was very tasty just very dense, I cooked it for 35mins but it had the hollow sound when I tapped on it, do you think if I cooked it longer it would be better inside? just after your opinion or anyone that may read thi, any help is good help lol.

Hello there. Thanks for trying the recipe,
I hope my video has helped in some way.
Yes, it definitely needed longer. It’s a case of trying recipe a few times until you get used to your oven timings. I’m sure it will turn out perfect the next time you cook it for maybe 5 or 10 minutes longer.
Thanks so much for supporting my channel 🙋🏻‍♂️😀RTF

I tried to make it yesterday. I think I added too much yeast. It was not as 'fluid' as yours and once it was done in the oven it ended up being heavy and dense. Still ok to eat but not fluffy inside as yours.
