You can not imagine how quickly I would throw money at a Star Wars game that’s basically the exact same as for honor down to the cosmetics and executions to the combat system with just a Star Wars reskin.

Right?? And on top of that, having a mode that made the cuts accurate and unforgiving. Like at 00:14 when he ducks and does the spin attack and it goes across his lower torso, in the mode have it so that he gets chopped in half.

They really need to make a Star Wars game that’s just like for honor. You could have Jedi and Sith and have different types of classes and fighting styles with executions and force abilities.

@@ereder1476 On May 4th the devs of For Honor changed the weapons into lightsabers. It was not a mod, it was an official thing that lasted only one day. It was also glorious.
It's absolutely rediculous, even without the light sabers, how insanely well animated this game is.

For Honor was just different from games back then though and even still i see no replicas, sad that is has went poopoo in the past year or so

I loved the for honor fighting engine. I think they need to work on a part 2. the victories felt good and real.

It’s an old game but Jedi academy’s multiplayer sabering gives this exact same vibe! Still has a competitive scene and playerbase, with modded client to make the game feel more modern
Wish people who described JA's multiplayer (Movie Battles mod especially) as a game they would love to play, would bother with googling a bit to find that gem. You really can be anyone and fight anywhere in the star wars universe. It has a incredibly fun lightsaber fighting mechanics with a very high skill ceiling for people to master.

@@devman133 because it was originally intended for PC, but was ported to other systems, including xbox. It was designed on the Quake III engine, after all. Thus mod support is extensive and near limitless. JA is the single best multiplayer SW experience today, for lightsaber combat that is.

When this happened, I lost my mind played nearly 24hours straight. Played every character at the time 2+ times. I wish they'd do this again or make a starwars game with this mechanic.
Sadly I think Ubisoft may have gotten a “back room” cease and desist from the Mouse soon after. Gotta keep things family friendly to appeal to as wide of an audience as they can you know?

This, this event was what made me keep playing. This was the greatest thing that FH ever had. Playing in the middle of the night, as soon at 12:00 hit, and seeing my weapon suddenly become a lightsaber gave me a dopamine hit that i still search for today.

I keep saying that when the developers of Jedi Knight Outcast: Jedi Academy made the game, this was how the combat was intended to be. Honestly, if they could make a mix of (Force Unleashed, Jedi Fallen Order, Jedi Knight Outcast, with a hybrid For Honor combat system) they would have an amazing game on their hands. Each game got alot right, and had there challenges. But, combined, this would be amazing.
What do you mean, the combat in the Jedi knight games was perfect and far ahead of it's time. To make it like like a 2d fighting game would be a disgrace

@@Digger-Nick Jedi academy multiplayer was... quirky. Most effective playstyles were weird as heck and far cry from what you see in the movies. Jumping around like a groshopper to setup slowest overhead smash in the history of the universe and then wiggle your camera like an epileptic to maximize number of collisions of your saber with enemy model- ah this bring back memories.

One of the best days in FH history if you ask me. I only got to play a couple matches that day but it was amazing, I'll never forget it lol

@@andrewmeyer3599 in your opinion maybe. The way I see it, that game is underwhelming and outdated. It feels clunky and looks terrible by modern standards. The voice acting is terrible and main characters kind of forgettable. Mods have improved it but can’t even make it look half as good as For Honor does. If there was a more modern take on the game I’d likely agree with you, but there isn’t so here we are.

Still to this day I have no idea why this combat hasn’t been incorporated into an open world RPG. It would be so dope for a simple adventurer RPG, even something small like 3 bandits could actually be a huge challenge! It would be so cool 😭
Kingdom Come Deliverance has a similar system, just first person and bit less satisfying

I'd pay anything for a for honor fighting style star wars game. Sith, jedi, your own star wars religion, your own character, so cool.
In my honest opinion they need to bring in weapon effects to the game image a sword of katana or even a axe on fire in a range of colors. And even blood effects that make the weapons look like they just went through a slaughter it would be amazing the possibility’s would be endless and awesome 😎

Would look cool, but they would probably run into issues with some effects that already affect the weapon. If they were to make a For Honor 2 they could potentially do this as they could be able to work it into the game from the start. Although they are finally getting back into the groove of things, I can’t see them wanting to focus on a whole other cosmetic option now with how much they need to focus on pushing out regular content and reworks/changes just to keep this very temperamental community barely happy with what funding they can get from Ubi at this point in its lifespan.

You think this would've been like, a preview for cosmetic weapon effects but they haven't brought anything like this back in 2 years.
Instead of a "hit" being actual contact with the vulnerable character, why don't they just make "hits" force a defensive animation, but still have it count as a depletion of health? This way you don't ruin the lightsaber's ethos of being a "touch it, you die" type of weapon, while still avoiding gameplay ruining 1 hit kills. Then, when you register a "hit" that actually is the killing blow per the health bar, have the animation for blade contact actually happen, with cutting through arms, torso, flesh actually happening. Otherwise, it looks silly having you slash a body part that magically isn't detached from the body until the health bar is low enough.

@@lukedelaharpe6760 Just watched a clip of it. Sort of. I think Sekiro headed in the right direction, but it looked like they still allow multiple "real hits" with a multiple "dot" system. I'd rather it be just a health bar that tracks your progress until the death blow that animates the light saber/katana doing what it would do under the canon of the story/reality. Sekiro's example I just watched is the best thing I have seen that approximates what I was hoping to see in one touch death weapons in games.
Nice play at the end, the upbeat Vader topped it off too. It was a good fight overall but that boy got played at the end

Bro I do whatever the hell I want w Orochi’s and I’m a warmonger/BP main, former orochi main. You just gotta keep in mind that they can bash now and you gotta dodge at the right time since it can’t be feinted, and once you pick up that timing you’re good you just gotta adapt to what Orochi’s like doing after their bashes like a side light, top heavy, etc ya know just read your enemy and pick up those subtle details.

funnily enough, orochi and kensei would be the best lightsaber wielders because form 1 was invented when jedi still used metal swords that were very similar to katanas

Why do people always say they "accidentally" or "unknowingly" made the perfect star wars game. I think they knew how amazing it was but couldn't do anything more with it without getting a certain letter from "the rats" lawyer.
hes talking about when the game was in development. they didnt develop this game thinking that it would be meant for lightsabers (obviously since its a medieval fighting game). they didnt get the idea until the game was already released.

Ever since battlefront 2 came out, I’ve always said I wish there was a for honor type of Star Wars game. I’m tired of the endless spamming of the dodge button in a lightsaber fight. I want the sabers to FEEL like I’m getting hit by a saber, I want to deflect and parry.
When will ubi finally release weapon effects I know that it would mean more things locked behind steel but God it would be sick to toggle lightsabers or have fire on your weapon weapon when you enter combat
Maybe effects replacing the unblockable and instead of your character being orange they burning blade or the weapon get covered in ice
@@heavyfromtf2208 I love that idea but in my opinion it would be cooler if the weapon effect turned on everytime you held the lock-on button and releases a burst depending on the effect everytime you land a hit
Too many weapon effects would make gameplay confusing, specially for new players, how can people not think about this?

You’ve only mentioned these Mary-Sue lightsaber-proof poorly written characters.. So… Still doesn’t translate very well for 99% of Jedi and Sith, does it? None of the major on-screen Jedi or sith that average “normie” fans know about are lightsaber proof. None of the most famous characters could take those hits. So your argument is really only making you look like the “ACKSHUALLY” meme guy, and it’s kind of embarrassing to witness.

If anyone is really into the look of this, I insist they check out the Mordhau Star Wars mod, a medieval combat game with much more diverse weapons and styles, and is more faithful to a "would-be" star wars game, is also still playable :D

Imagine a dueling centered Star Wars game, taking inspiration from Jedi Academy, Episode III (the game obviously), and the Battlefront titles. Being able to choose between an all out war of Jedi vs sith, on the level of KOTOR, or just 2v2s & 1v1s. There’s a lot of room for creativity with game modes there and I’d play that waaaaaaay more than battlefront.
