I recently purchased an X2 and have been blown away by it, I had no idea what 360 cameras could actual do until I watched some of your videos. I wish the X3 had replacable glass screw on/off lenses, this would be awesome! Also shame the resolution is still the same as X2 for 99% of shooting... I will wait until X4 before upgrading!

I have watched your videos for some time, and you are always informative and make them entertaining. Thanks for your examples. At first, editing the X3 seems overwhelming. But I am up to the challenge. I'm heading to Disneyland in November and want to get some outstanding videos of my family and 4-year-old grandson. I purchased you Best360 Monopod Carbon Fiber Edition a few months ago and looking forward to using it with the X3.

This camera looks awesome! I wish that Insta360 would have made the X3 be the camera that had a huge screen and the 360 one inch sensors.

Yes you can't beat the stitching of the original ONE X! Will be making some more videos to check out the improvements with launch firmware 😀👍
Hi Shanil, is there any chance that you could do a comparison between the X3 and the One X ? I think that there are probably still a lot of One X users out there who did not go to the X2 but would consider the One X
I own the X2 and I just bought the X3 and I can tell you all that at least for now the X2 has a much better video quality!
Who knows, this might change with future updates.

I have the X2 and no reason to upgrade. It looks like some of the improvements or options on the X3 could be available to the X2 through firmware upgrade. But just as with the original X vs X2, Insta360 will probably abandon the X2 so you will have to buy the X3

I have x2 and happy with it, if I buy the x3 I have to buy all other accessories like lens guard , quick card reader etc ... not worth it for me. I think they are targeting new buyers

Wonderful video! What would you say the main differences other than the form factor is between the X3 and 360 RS? Which one would you recommend?
For 360 video especially, I much prefer the X3. Me Mode on X3 is a nice way of getting selfie videos without having to reframe the 360 video. So if you're new to 360 then X3 is an easier step into the 360 world
Would habe been nice if you could have ised the x2 batgeries. As they did with r and rs...... But is the best time to buy used x2 on ebay and batteries 😬
Thanks! This is the most complete description and comparison vs One X 2. Looks like a great camera but not a huge improvement, it is still the same resolution, yes with a bigger sensor but still the same 5.7K. The 72 megapixels for photos are in RAW or JPG? It is ashamed that HDR photo is only for 18 MP. It is also ashamed that the 4K resolution for 1 lens does not have horizon lock. Looking forward for a video comparing the R 1 inch Vs X3. 72mp is in RAW and JPEG. Though I should mention that 1 RAW photo is 400mb 😅.

Thank you for the great review! I just ordered x3. Have you tested HDR mode in high contrasted area or some fast move? I get some glitches with my x1 and x2. I really hope they improve it.

@@Best360 thank you for the reply, I just noticed it today. By the way I attached lens protectors on the both side of the lens last week, after recording for a while in door, inside of the protector gets so steamy with high heat and all footages after that were not usable. I wonder any suggestion?
That’s unfortunate. The only real solution is to not use sticky guards 😅.
Will the One X2 Premium Lens Guard (the glass one) and the plastic/sticky lens protectors work on the X3?
No the lenses are slightly larger on x3

Only reason I would upgrade is for the bigger screen. Seen resale for the x2 isn’t too bad but id still have to drop like 2 - 250 for my x3 so i could get the cage mount and the extra batteries/charger. Wish the batteries atleast would have been interchangeable . I get the body diff on the cage for the bigger screen improvement, which the cages aren’t crazy expensive. But some of the other stuff that may or may not work from the x2 maybe ill wait for x4 or a good sale

Specialy for timelapse and timewarp. I can't chance the speed in the camera on my insta rs1inch. Have to edit the speed later and gives me poor quality footage

Still takes a while. Its now saving a 72mp picture 😅

Thank you for this great comparison. I was not expecting features to be removed from the new model. After all the hype about h.265 being same or better with smaller file size, the X2 convinced me to switch over to it. You mentioned that was removed - is it just h.264 now? How different were the file sizes between your side by side shots? Since the X3 doesn’t have the iOS USB mode available, importing even larger files over WiFi doesn’t sound appealing to time or battery.
Soo the x2 was actually recording h264 and h265 at the same bit rate. It was just a different compression codec. And I found h265 to be a little better than h264. It is pretty random to drop it... maybe they wanted to prevent overheating issues.. not sure

@@Best360 I just did a side by side 360 test and exported a 10gb video file in h.265 and X2 in h.264. Within a few hundred megs different. So, h.285 is either overhyped or implemented poorly in the Insta studio.

On the x3, Can you chance the speed of timelapse and timeshift in the camera and not by edit the footage out of the camera? I have the rs1inch. And if i slow down the speed in desktop software i get poor quality footage.
Yea you can't slow down 30fps because the frames will get interpolated and look really bad. There is a timeshift mode which adds speed automatically. You can try that

If I understand correctly, each side of the camera can record now in 4K individually, i.e. if insta360 wanted X3 it could record 360 video in 8K instead of 5.7K?
It can only do a timelapse in 8k.
I have the ONE RS 1-inch 360 and the X2 I think the X3 offers nothing new compared to these two. I thought they would have brought out a bigger upgrade as they seem to be releasing a new item every month which maybe alright for 'influencers' who get the kit free but not for the normal user who has to pay their way.

From your experience, Is that something that could (and will) be improved with a future firmware update or is it technically fixed because of the thicker X3 body? Thanks and keep up the good work!
It can definitely be improved with a firmware update. But it won't be as seamless as the original one x or one x2

I just noticed, my x2 when recarding at 3k 100 fps, the play back is automatically in slow motion, can i play it back normally and then choose when and how much to slow it down?
I want it plsying normally but 7ts automatically doing slow motion
You can try speed it up in the Insta360 app by using speed

I was hoping the next model after the X2 would have replaceable lense covers in case they get scratched. It's a really nice camera, but if you have the X2 already there's not much of a desire to upgrade because the batteries from the X2 can't be used and the X3's features seemed to be centered more around vlogging and self filming, which is fine but doesn't make me want to upgrade. For a new user though.... recommended.

Great new camera, but now the one x2 batteries dont fit anymore as well as the external microphone adapter. So now you have to purchase all new accessoires.
