I'm really glad to hear MotorWeek give this car the respect it well deserves. Some people are overly critical about it, but their logic is never very sound or justifiable. By all reasonable standards, this is an extraordinary car on every level, inside and out. It's styling alone is enough to win me over. The design is perfectly executed and there isn't a bad line anywhere. Super aggressive, yet elegant and clean.
It was never "attainable" before. It was still priced out of the common folks hands from day one. $150k is pretty comparable in price to the first gen in today's money.

It would have been affordable if it hadn't been for the hybrid meme technology. Back then the average person had the money to buy a Honda sports car. Seriously, some rich folk who has the money surely wouldn't buy a damn Honda/Acura for that price tag if they can get an M5, a 911 or a lower spec Ferrari instead. The car is a major flop and it has no target demographic. The people who want one because they are enthusiasts can't afford it and the people who can don't want it.
People that complain about how different it is from the old car need to understand that if they were to do such a thing, the might as well call it the OSX (Old Sports eXperimental) instead of the NSX lol. I mean there's nothing new about keeping something extremely similar to its predecessor. It has the basic things the old NSX had which was attractive styling, a mid engined V6 and seating for two. I mean come on, Acura (and Honda) have a flagship sports car again! We should be excited!
@Grizzy Bear Msrp was 158,000 for a base in 2017. 3 years later they're available at 115,000 to 120,000. Maybe I was off, but it still isnt good and they're failing in sales. I wish it was doing better, I think they missed the mark on the new version

The first and second series (NA1 and NA2) NSX's depreciated bottomed out below $20k dollars before sky rocketing as people saw them as investment opportunities. I wouldn't expect this 2nd generation to do any different. Over the past few months I heard that a car's value bottoms out around the 10-15 year mark and if the car is desirable it will peak around the 30 year mark. The explanation I've heard given is that a 10 year puts the poster of the car he/she likes on the wall and 30 years later when they are 40 they have to money to buy the car they fantasized about when they were a kid.
Imo its the motor. They should of stayed w a n/a w the electronic motors. I havent driven one, but it may not be as responsive as the na1 and na2. Maybe a small v8 would of really interested people.

With tons of praticality and pop up headlights to boot all that for half the money of any lambo or ferrari. They taken away everything except low seating position at this point. It woudl be better if they found a way to reduce the entry price and say use same V6 as 6mt Coupe accord in a flatter supercar body, copying toyota's MR-2 recipe and having it start at price a bit higher than fully specced accord and then higher with more powerful variants. It would be perfect that way. Instead they overdone it techwise and its another soulless hybrid sportscar that sounds lile crap because of the turbo charging and auto transmission.
Look all these engineering experts. lol. 2.9 0-60. But hey its to heavy. Give me a break. This car is a more than worthy update to the original. you don't have to worry about the electric motor longevity because this isn't a car that will see daily driving. It won't see the 75-100k miles of a typical car. Take the nostalgia goggles off people. This car is beautiful. i'd take this over the GT-R just based on looks alone.

It was ugly. It may have looked cool and interesting and decent from silent angles but over all it was just an ugly car. And it was much more noticeable since its predecessor was an uncommonly beautiful car.
First gen was a work of art. Yes, definitely Ferrari-inspired but had it's own flair. This 2nd gen has amazing performance, but looks like a souped up Honda Accord coupe, and not in a good way.
to get the same technology thats put in this nsx you would have to spend over 1,000,000 for a mclaren P1 or laferrari or 918. this car is an absolute bargain for the technology it has. just like the old nsx. nothing comes close per dollar spent.
I really like this car. It is an affordable, attainable, and RELIABLE super car compared to Ferrari and Lamborghini prices. And I’ve heard a few testimonies from people about European exotics reliability.

This car is full of technological innovations, I have to give credit where it is due. But if Acura intended this car for the original NSX's audience, then theyve completely overkilled it. If anything, the NSX was like a higher performance 370z; V6 NA, rear wheel drive, manual optional, and midship engine placement. If I was in Acuras corporate offices, I would have given this new NSX a completely new model name and then made a lower priced, mid engined NSX (as close as the former as possible) so it can compete with the Q60 coupe, RC coupe, etc.

It's a great technological marvel Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. Acura needs to open this engine or motors and let it power excel. So much effort and time were placed into this great design sport super car.
What a giant sales flop it is. Sold 269 last year. Only 1 sold in Canada in January. Maybe the price going up 250% from the original 60k NSX is too much for people to spend. The Viper only went up 33% from 92 to 16.
Exactly why chevrolet does such a good job with the vette. More power and performance for less. I do like the style of the nsx but the price is outrageous.

Too much for not enough. A Shelby gt500 is less than this . Or a junk ass hell cat if you wanna go that route. I like it as a touring car. A manual option would have done the sales wonders. Noone cars if automatic is faster they want that true engagement with the vehicle.
I still would've like to have seen this car with the planned V-10. That's not to say this isn't a wonderful car... it is, but just to see a truly visceral V-10 performance engine produced by Honda I know would've sounded absolutely GLORIOUS!!!! It would've been the closest thing to an F-1 car for the street.

Many peoples still don't appreciated Honda because they think it's a low class automaker for decade. Honda might be cheap but it qualities is one of the best, I've seen Mercedes and BMW interior qualities that doesn't last longer than Honda. For the new NSX still many people unappreciated the $160k price tag, engineering and technology put in that car is well worth the prices! One of the first sport car that has Twin Turbo 3.5L V6 with dual electric motors which active AWD. Go spend over $200k on European sport car and you can't even get those technology! For me, you are paying over 50% prices tag just for the name that will depreciate within few years of owning.
I wish they would have just simply done a modern take on the old design, kind of like what the Aventador looks like in relation to the Diablo. This looks like a Civic dressing up as a Centenario for Halloween.

Going through these classic MW reviews, seems not too long ago a 6 second 0-60 would be labeled as "very impressive" ! The fully dressed Nismo will cost you $150,000 +,and this is a way more civilized car than a GTR.don't get me wrong I like the GTR.but this is a more all round hi tech Car.the GTR is for going fast.this is smooth, quiet. Fuel efficient,and comfortable.The GTR not so much.

To fix their mistake, Acura needs to give us a stripped down version of this car. No batteries, no electric motors and possibly a spyder. Also make it rear wheel drive and a 6 speed manual. I'd buy that in a heartbeat! But for now I'll enjoy my 981 Boxster Spyder.
The Acura NSX is affordable, compared other hybrids that hit under 3 seconds 0-60. You got to give Honda credit to being the original supercar from Japan that made exotic car companies go back to the drawing board. The NSX put them all to shame on reliability and technology. The GTR isn't a hybrid yet but win it does comes out with the redesigned R36, then you better expect the price will be up there, or if not higher.
It's pretty good, but I would prefer it if they wish they took out the electric motor... Reduced the weight.... And made it RWD.... And some people might agree with me on this or call me stupid, but it should have a manual transmission option IMO
+Kyle Counter the electric motor compliments the mechanical one before the turbo kicks in. Apart from that, it's an everyday supercar, it runs on the electrical motor. PS: More power does not mean faster acceleration, may be more top speed but definitely does not mean faster acceleration.
the thing I like that honda did with this car is they made the hybrid sports car more attainable to the general public. The same way with the last gen NSX.
you are right it would have been much more capable. for some reason honda has lost its way to heavy to much lag with all the electronics driver helping junk. the gen 1 is better hands down you will not get a more pure drivers car than that. in closing honda go home you are drunk.
seems like anyone will say no to improvements and bring the manual transmission into their sentence so they sound like pros. Truth is manual transmissions are fun but useless nowadays. Dual clutch 9 speed and you want a manual? ok.. get the original NSX then they are still out there.
Would of worked and would of been a worthy successor if they would of ditched the electric motors and increased the horsepower to 600hp while decreasing the weight below 3300lbs. Spare me the B.S. of electric motors. Why? Longevity and reliability. Sorry, solid state batteries haven't reached that level of technology. The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics still stands.
if you look at it as the inexpensive answer to the hybrid supercar top 3 (laferrari, p1, 918) then it does the exact same thing as the original car. Offering 80% of the performance at 30% of the price all while being more reliable and livable than the european offerings. People who think the soul of the car was lost forgot what that soul was.
I currently own 2 original NSX's & no matter how hard I try to like this new version of the car, I just can't... I think it looks like a super-silly cartoon version of the original... The designers really failed... It is shameful that Honda allowed the designers to fudge-up the look of such a classic, beautiful car... Oh, & by they way, a fully stocked version is about $217K, so you would think that you would get a hand-built in Japan version with at least an 8-10 cylinder end-product(?)... No, still 6 cylinder & made in Ohio... Really, Honda???... Can we all say "RIP-OFF"?... Oh & by they way, it is super-ugly... Not a chance I will ever buy one.. Sorry, Honda!

The new Lexus LC500 might just be your thing then. Of course it still has a dual clutch transmission, but at least no hybrid or torque steer.

You forget that inflation exists. The first gen NSX with inflation was 110k. This is an apt price for the tech you get.
I'm not hating but it was designed at their design studio in California not in Japan like the original. By a first time designer of sports cars.... The first generation was unique if not jaw dropping in every aspect...... This one looks common. I can't believe Japan approved it

Beautiful car. 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. Phew !! That sure would get my old heart jumping. Guessing 0-100 would be less than 6 seconds. Going through these classic MW reviews, seems not too long ago a 6 second 0-60 would be labeled as "very impressive" ! Remember the Wolf in Pulp Fiction ( Harvey Keitel) zipped off in one of these after "cleaning up" a little situation!!

The fully dressed Nismo will cost you $150,000 +,and this is a way more civilized car than a GTR.don't get me wrong I like the GTR.but this is a more all round hi tech Car.the GTR is for going fast.this is smooth, quiet. Fuel efficient,and comfortable.The GTR not so much.

Driven both. I can tell you they're appreciable in their own ways. This NSX is fantastic to live on a daily basis.

To fix their mistake, Acura needs to give us a stripped down version of this car. No batteries, no electric motors and possibly a spyder. Also make it rear wheel drive and a 6 speed manual. I'd buy that in a heartbeat! But for now I'll enjoy my 981 Boxster Spyder.

A more direct competitor to this NSX is the BMW i8. Those other cars are of a different class and philosophy it's like comparing apples to oranges.

The Acura NSX is affordable, compared other hybrids that hit under 3 seconds 0-60. You got to give Honda credit to being the original supercar from Japan that made exotic car companies go back to the drawing board. The NSX put them all to shame on reliability and technology. The GTR isn't a hybrid yet but win it does comes out with the redesigned R36, then you better expect the price will be up there, or if not higher.
My dream sports car only because of its hybrid ability.

The original NSX and the C8 corvette (and some Lambos) look ridiculous with their stretched rear-ends. Just to make them "mid-engine"
It's pretty good, but I would prefer it if they wish they took out the electric motor... Reduced the weight.... And made it RWD....
And some people might agree with me on this or call me stupid, but it should have a manual transmission option IMO

+Kyle Counter the electric motor compliments the mechanical one before the turbo kicks in. Apart from that, it's an everyday supercar, it runs on the electrical motor.
PS: More power does not mean faster acceleration, may be more top speed but definitely does not mean faster acceleration.
the thing I like that honda did with this car is they made the hybrid sports car more attainable to the general public. The same way with the last gen NSX.

the gen 1 is better hands down you will not get a more pure drivers car than that.

seems like anyone will say no to improvements and bring the manual transmission into their sentence so they sound like pros. Truth is manual transmissions are fun but useless nowadays. Dual clutch 9 speed and you want a manual? ok.. get the original NSX then they are still out there.

Would of worked and would of been a worthy successor if they would of ditched the electric motors and increased the horsepower to 600hp while decreasing the weight below 3300lbs. Spare me the B.S. of electric motors. Why? Longevity and reliability. Sorry, solid state batteries haven't reached that level of technology. The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics still stands.
if you look at it as the inexpensive answer to the hybrid supercar top 3 (laferrari, p1, 918) then it does the exact same thing as the original car. Offering 80% of the performance at 30% of the price all while being more reliable and livable than the european offerings. People who think the soul of the car was lost forgot what that soul was.

I currently own 2 original NSX's & no matter how hard I try to like this new version of the car, I just can't... I think it looks like a super-silly cartoon version of the original... The designers really failed... It is shameful that Honda allowed the designers to fudge-up the look of such a classic, beautiful car... Oh, & by they way, a fully stocked version is about $217K, so you would think that you would get a hand-built in Japan version with at least an 8-10 cylinder end-product(?)... No, still 6 cylinder & made in Ohio... Really, Honda???... Can we all say "RIP-OFF"?... Oh & by they way, it is super-ugly... Not a chance I will ever buy one.. Sorry, Honda!
