    For those of you wondering. When Tannoy was purchased by the Chinese a while back and the Scottish factory was closed, a bunch of the Tannoy top bods broke off and decided to form a new company based in Scotland. They called this company Fyne Audio. All the musical prowess of the companies products is directly related to the knowledge acquired from Tannoy's decades of history and speaker manufacturing excellence. It is no surprise whatsoever that this company hit the ground running with 'Product of the year' accolades almost immediately. Anyone thinking about pulling the plug on a pair of Fyne Audio Speakers can probably do so without worry or hesitation as long as you appreciate the general sound being similar to Tannoy's range of speakers.

    Nice review. I just got mine in Gloss white. Fantastic perfect finish and they are the best speakers I have ever heard at that price range or even higher price ranges! I have already had a little fall out with my neighbour but well worth it! I have recently acquired Atlas cables and already has made them even better compared to my old cables. The voice has been brought forward a little and the lower end is more fuller than before.

    Thanks for the review! Do you think a tube (or valve as you brits call them) amp would suit these well in dialling back the bass and slight harshness?

    good well done video, thank you. just a suggestion try attaching your speaker cables directly to the high frequency terminals (with the jumpers in place of course) as this will insure the cleanest most direct delivery of energy to the dual concentric speaker then via the jumpers to the helper woofer this being a 21/2 way system. You should notice a small improvement in the SQ.

    thanks for the review! would you by chance review the F500s? i'm looking for some bookshelf speakers (no space for floorstanders).
    also sidenote; i saw in another review (can't rem which), the grilles can be placed on the back of these speakers, so you won't lose it, worth a try!

      I have experience listening to F500. The definition of instruments is incredible and female voice is just superb. I would recommend it highly. I planned to get them first but got a good deal for F501.

    Thanks for the detailed review. I recently bought an Audiolab 6000A which is driving Q Acoustics 3050s. At some stage I'd like to upgrade the speakers, possibly to the 501s. They do seem very impressive. One quick question, how how have you found them over extended sessions in terms of listener fatigue?

    • @theaudioman4446
      @theaudioman4446  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To be fair they do not strike me as harsh when listening. However, if you have an aversion to metal dome tweeter they can cause a small amount of fatigue over very extended slightly elevated listening levels.

    • @BastianUllr
      @BastianUllr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I am new owner of the F502 - I use bi-amplification. But Listening fatigue? Nope!!! They are just clear and nice and warm... Even heavy metal sounds pleasing on these things. I imagine F501 cannot be too far from what I get.

      @@paulm7875 Yes Paul...I'm in a similar boat - got a deal online last year with an Audiolab 6000A and Tannoy XT6F's but always wanted the XT8F's - I'm wondering if the 501's are basically a kind of rebranded XT6F as the Fyne audio guys are ex Tannoy...? They certainly look very similar. How much of an upgrade were the 501's over the 3050's?

    • @paulm7875
      @paulm7875 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrTarati The 3050s were pretty incredible for the price but the 1st thing that struck me about the 501s was the build quality, absolutely rock solid. And that translates through to the sound which has much better bass depth and control with better dynamics and transparency. Where the 3050s seemed to be working hard with complex passages of music the F501s just seem to deliver everything in an effortless way. I haven't heard the Tannoys so would be really interested to hear what you think if you end up getting them.

    I got these. Mine are white. The bass isn't as described on here. Mine have big round disk type locking nuts on the feet. Really good. Running with Cambridge audio Cxa81 Cambridge transport FiiO k7 dac. Room is only 14m2. They can sound harsh with some types of music. Van Morriston (it's the recording) but have improved with running in. Years ago had an lp12. Ittok arm exposure pre power amps. Superb.

    How are they at low to extr4emely-low volumes? A lot of the best-sounding speakers need 90dB of SPL to do their best, and I'm too old for that.

    Hi, a couple of quick questions. Would these be good primary speakers for a 3.1 Home Theater setup? These would be set up in a 12x25 ft room, but the listening/viewing position is across the 12' distance. Do you think these speakers might be too much then?

    • @theaudioman4446
      @theaudioman4446  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Piotr W, thanks! I'm glad you found the review useful. Since they have good bass extension I would imagine they are well suited to Jazz music with regards the double bass instruments. These tend to give a live sound and are not what you might call polite. Real "get up and dance speakers" is one way I would describe them. I think they would especially like live jazz recordings as they separate instruments so effortlessly, and give a sense of air & space around instruments. I am in the process of getting recording equipment to just give some impression of relative sound differences between speakers. Thanks for your suggestion, and I may do at a later date. Please don't forget to like and subscribe as well as hit the bell for notifications when I make new recordings, if you haven't already. This will help me to keep making videos with even greater in-depth reviews.

      @@theaudioman4446 There are very few movies about Fyne audio F501 or F502. After your video, I think that the F502 will be unsuitable for me because of the large amount of bass in my room. I was also interested in Tannoy XT6F. I'm curious about the differences. In the near future I am going to listen to F501 in the HiFi store. I will listen to live and maybe buy. Is it possible to compare F501 with KEF LS50?

    Hi Audio Man, How do these compare against the LS50’s i note you have. I have the LS50’s and am considering getting floor standers like these or getting a REL t7i subwoofer for my LS50’s ????

    • @theaudioman4446
      @theaudioman4446  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, they do have a larger presentation in terms of sound stage being wider and higher. The treble is a little more revealing of the very upper registers and perhaps a little more revealing of the ragged edges of sound as a result. The bass is a good deal more present, and somewhat less refined, however they are very entertaining and a bit more get up and boogie, foot thumping sound.

    • @BastianUllr
      @BastianUllr 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theaudioman4446 I do not think is a matter of less refined. I find midbass is way better and snappier. The less refined part enters when it can go a lot deeper, and with enough energy, what causes that more standing waves accumulating on the room and well, the bass thus feels slower, heavier, thicker... because of depth extension. I find is that notes are still clear and defined and that percussion carries a lot of information and depth due to the extended lower registers. Things simply have more body than what an LS50s can do.
      Now, with subs... as long as you do a good job pairing them, I believe subs are always more room friendly that floor standing speakers. My biggest thing here would be that I prefer much more the tone of the Fyne over that of the KEF.

      How big is your room? I have F501 and was listening F502 a bit. In that set up they were just to powerful and sound was jumping around the room. Especially with the bass. And they seem huge comparing to F501.

    • @BastianUllr
      @BastianUllr 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Mladenac I actually purchased the F502. My room is largish. About 6.5mts by 8.5mts. They are fantastic. I had the Tannoy Precision 6.2, auditioned these and swapped in a heartbeat. I cannot be happier and they are not even fully broken in. What an amazing speaker. Bass is just perfect for my room. What strikes me the most is how deep it digs. Well into the 20s is audible. Actually, what strikes me the most is the midrange... So fast for a 2.5 way. Wow!
