    Thanks! Not only for the review, but also for the critic on the jumpers. I had the same problems as you (losing treble) but it took me much longer to figure out the problem. Just replaced the jumpers with pieces of the same speaker cable as I was using anyway. Not only the problem was gone, but the whole sound was a bit better, too.

      Hello Karel,
      thank you for the compliment. I am glad you figured out the issue before getting too far into it. I find it strange that any modern manufacturer, who goes through such pains to market to us all the great technology packed into their speakers and yet overlooks something so simple and yet detrimental to the overall performance. Glad you like them better with that quick fix, they are a decent speaker. Thanks for watching, cheers!

    As someone whose first audiophile system was centered around the AR9LSI's, I too regret letting them go. Mine were wood veneer on the front and much prettier than your old AR9LS speakers making letting them go that much more painful in hindsight.
    I also spent significant time with Monitor Audio's silver series as I had them in a surround 4.1 phantom middle on Jolida tube amps and a Bel Canto DAC-1 for 2 channel only and I truly enjoyed them as well. Those "in common" touchpoints help me enjoy this channel even more as well as give me more confidence in your opinion of gear. Well done and thank you.

    • @2ChannelListening

      I certainly can see how letting go of the fully veneered version would cause even greater regret. With big amplification, those speakers amaze. I appreciate your compliment, thank you Scott and welcome to the channel!

      I think the difference is I pay for my review gear, most of them don't. I decide what stay's with me longer and what product doesn't make the cut is immediately up for sale. I'll be honest, its a double edged sword because no one want's to be affiliated with me, even most of the other reviewers. Lonely wolf I be. Luckily I have a strong day job and can afford to do this.

    I bought the F501 and paired it with a lyngdorf tdai 1120 amp which I really like.
    Just by their own, the F501 were quite boomy because of my room.
    But the neutral sound of the lyngdorf Combined with its great room correction made the speaker sound 3x as good and I love them.
    The 60w of the amp is also enough for my listening levels.

    I read Tannoy was purchased by a company called Music Group a few years ago, and they closed the Tannoy factory in Scotland to move the manufacturing to China. Fyne Audio was started by ex-employees of the Tannoy factory in Scotland. Really good speakers. I'm looking for a pair of F501s for my two-channel system.

    How are the Fyne 501's at low- to extremely low volumes? I hear a lot of great things about them but I rarely listen above 70dB and in my experience some speakers need a bigger kick in the backside to get them going.

Starting to do some research on it and kind of have some things picked out but would be great to have a list of good brands to look for when buying used and what to look for when shopping around for a quality system without breaking the bank and getting as much value as possible.

      I have to say I am a big fan of old Monitor Audio products. I auditioned the RX line against the more expensive B&W CM9 several times and came home with a pair of RX8's. I will say I took the drivers out and lined the entire cabinet with Dynamat and replaced the foam with polyfill. Cheap hack on what were $1,400 speakers, I loved them. I owned those RX8's for 3 years, which for me, is the longest standing pair of speakers. I believe the fit n finish is really good for the money and now the 6G and 7G give you so much more bass response. Remember if you want a nice finish on Fyne, you have to step up several thousand $ to the 501SP. I would personally go back to MA before Fyne if its my dollars voting.
      Thanks for watching!

    Very nice review, I was wondering. Am thinking about downgrading to these. Am gonna demo them once they are ready at the dealer. My listening room is quite narrow. Like ( 7.5FT 2.3 meter ). I do have sound absorption pannels but still can't have a bass-heavy speaker in here. Do you have an idea if the work out in a more narrow room with your gear? I currently have a set of Sonus Faber Senneto 3 speakers which work better then any speaker has in this room. But the Fyne audio f501 has bigger drivers. And is also a bit cheaper with assumingly les refinement. My guess, haven't tried them yet. But it would be neat to know from your experience. Thank you for sharing this review, gave it a sub and can't wait to see more.

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Greetings Z.Walker,
      thank you for the positive feedback and sub. I can directly relay to you what happened to me in my space. When I first moved into the apartment, I did go with a narrow set up. Side wall to wall 8 ft., speakers only 6 ft apart and roughly 8 ft to my ears. The amps, the speakers, integrated amps and sources made limited difference, including the larger speakers. As soon as I rearranged the room to push the speakers out 8ft, I had an instant 30% improvement in sound stage depth and width, details and presence. Arguably, it was the biggest impact to my listening experience.
      You could put a couple of diffusers (even acoustic foam pads) at the back of the base of the Fyne F501's to tune them down if room mode becomes an issue. For what they do, I think they would be great in the dimensions you list. F501's are tunable and responsive to sources, which in my book is a great attribute. Speakers that dominate anything you hook up to them are not anything I would want to own. Feel free to pm me if you would like more details and or greater specifics. Thank you kind sir! Cheers.

    I just recently purchased the Fyne F502SP. They were tested against another 15 or so other speakers (KEF, B&W, Vivid, Spendor, AE, Amohion, etc - some cheaper & quite a few much more expensive) and the Fyne F502SP won the contest hands down.
    These speakers just want to make you listen to music more. They are engaging, have great bass and are very well balanced.
    Mine are driven with a Devialet Expert Pro 440 amplifier and do a fantastic job.
    And can I say that the workmanship is absolutely incredible!
    I personally cannot recommend these speakers highly enough. Sure, they were not cheap but they outperformed other speakers twice their price.

    • @2ChannelListening
      @2ChannelListening  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hello Richard, in this case, at its price and containing the trickle down drivers from the 702's, without a second thought I would pick the F502SP. You will get more dynamic range, more bass, much easier to drive and the placement is less fussy due to how well FA integrated bass management. I love the KEF, but this was an easy choice for my money. Had you said the base model F502, I would have suggested something else.

      @@2ChannelListening Thanks for reaching out. Much Appreciated. From Trinidad in the Caribbean. I looked at the F702 vs the F502SP and see that the specs are the same. What would make the F702 so much more expensive? Even the weights of both models are the same.

    You seem to use the Tekton Lore's as your primary system. Care to make a 5 minute video about them? What are your thoughts? Are they the upgraded version or standard caps? Also your videos have good content but are a little long and bounce around a little too much. Keep going though! Also the playback of your video has a lot of room echo. Maybe look into some more sound treatment or a better mic for better sound quality.. Just a thought.

      Greetings Kyle,
      Thank you for the constructive feedback. Yes, I'm still getting my feet under me with playing all the roles involved with reviewer, critic, editor, acquisitions and director...lol. Thanks for pointing out the echo, I wasn't aware of it after adding the heavy curtain behind me for episode #6. I'll work on the topic of focus.
      As for the Tekton's, they are what I am using for my benchmark speaker at a price point of $600. I buy 98% of my gear used, thus, I get to change the rules of the game to decide if some gear is worthy against other depreciated gear. I have no manufacturer who can reasonably argue with second and third hand market results. My Tektons are in base form, no upgrades. Since I am in an apartment, they make perfect sense to me for what they can do and at what I paid for them. I recently gave up my AR9 LS, which, even at 39 years old, were a superior speaker, but not a fair comparison in size and or real market value. Nor was I hauling 120 lb. speakers up three flights of stairs! Cheers, thanks again, I appreciate it.
