Thank you! Very clear, easy to understand instructions. I have had my 2019 Mazda for about a month and couldn't figure out why the wipers wouldn't work on intermittent. Now I know.
Great tutorial video that is to the point. I didn't know that by turning the rain sensor off , they revert to intermittent mode. Handy to know. Thank you
Thank you car-lady Lisa. I like your terminology and I will add "swooshy" to my vocabulary. I live in Newfoundland and Labrador so we have a lot of RDF (Rain, Drizzle & Fog). Before rain sensing wipers (I was using interval wipers ) I frequently found my wipers dragging roughly over dry glass or sweeping too infrequently on wet glass to do the job. Rain sensing wipers fixed all this. Now I don't need to even think about my wipers.
Appreciated this video thank you. I couldn't figure out why mine wouldn't come on even though it was checked in the vehicle tab. Hopefully now I've moved the wiper arm one click down I should be fine next time it rains. The mazda owners manual was no help.
I didn't like mine at first, but I got used to it and like it now. It's not very good in light rain, where you have dry moments, but it's decent in moderate to heavy rain.
Yeah! I have been trying to figure mine out (after 2.5 years). I find the manual so not user friendly for me who has never had fancy schmancy extras in a car. It is written like someone knows what this stuff is. Playing with all the options, my wipers still don't come on automatically since they did in the carwash at the beginning. I may be clicking one too far down. We get so little rain, it is hard to find the opportunity to test. I am going to look for more of your tutorials...like blue tooth and iPhone connections.
I've had my 2021 CX-5 for a year and a half, and can't stand the rain sensing setting. Thank you for showing me how to shut it off (and had intermittent instead)!
Very helpful. I saw the setting in the menu but didn’t know what happened if I turn it off. Also I didn’t know which had more “swooshies” out of the plus and minus.
i guess im asking randomly but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the login password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Skylar Kendrick i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
This is great as I didn't realize that it was auto and not intermittent. I prefer the intermitent ones as when it is at low and there isn't any rain well they stop wiping and if you forget to put them in the "Off" position and say go through a car wash, guess what? This could really cause some damage. Not a good thing. And in my mazda, the sensor is checked but no way to highlight it to shut it off.
I have a gen 1 Mazda 3 (2008) grand touring. It has these "rain sensing" wipers and I dont like them. The wipers rarely swipe at the speed I need. Usually they are too slow. Maybe because when it's raining it's also overcast, or night and the lack of light makes it difficult for the Sensor? I dont know, that's just a guess. Turning the sensitivity setting on the dial doesn't seem to do anything and after driving this car for over 10 years I question whether or not it's even plugged in at all! Another issue is: if you leave it on "auto" then it will swipe every time you hit a big bump or pot hole. Due to this issue you end up turning the wipers to "off". Then when it starts raining you have to turn them back to "auto"... see what I'm getting at here? You have to MANUALLY turn automatic wipers on. Sort of defeats the purpose of having automatic-something if you have to turn them on, doesn't it? Last thing: in my state (IL) it is illegal to use your wipers without turning your lights on (safety law?). So if your lights are automatic, and your wipers are automatic... again, see what I'm getting at? The lights should turn on automatically when the wipers do. (And probably stay on for a pre-set amount of time) Maybe the system has been improved in newer models. I sincerely hope it has, however, having an intermittent setting is not THAT big of a deal, and it gives you, the driver, control of a system you should have control of anyway. Just my 2 cents based on my experience with this system. -Thanks!
One of the only things I absolutely hate with my ‘17 Mazda3. Sit at a stop light in a slight rain and the wipers go at warp speed. Start to accelerate and get up to speed, almost nothing and can’t see.
I believe this was a 2016 CX-5 or CX-9. Even I don't recall. Its been a while. The newer models works the same, but also have an option in the touch screen settings to turn off the auto wipers. Should be under settings > vehicle settings.
Yes. If you unclick it from the screen, it will default your auto wiper setting on the steering wheel arm to an intermittent function which allows you to adjust how fast the wipers move regardless of the amount of water on the sensor. It basically puts you in full control of your swooshies ;-)
haha.. 'swooshy'. Mine is a 2013 so i dont have a 'vehicle' settings. Wish i did so i could disable them. They don't work properly, Even on the highest sensitivity setting, it takes a TON of rain for them to finally trigger.
There have been cases where the sensor was faulty. It used to be one unit attached to the rearview mirror. In recent models this unit is separate on most models. You can disable them as well. You have 3 functions on your wiper arm (I believe without looking) Auto, Hi and Low. If you simply put it on Hi or Low your sensitivity bar to adjust speed becomes the intermittent setting.
Salt on the window ? Only from the ocean...lol... I love my 2013 Mazda 3! I looked at a CX-5 with low miles and 3 years old from New York here on a lot in California: the amount of rust and corrosion I saw was enough to NEVER buy a car from a place where they salt the roads ........
CarLadyLisa thanks. What about filling the gas. I went to the gas station to fill the car, I didn't know how to open the filling gas on the right side. Is there any button inside I can press
Hazel Fkd Yes. To the left of your steering wheel and look down. There is a lever beside the hood release to release the fuel filler door. You pull the lever towards you.
Mazda6 rain sensors are total shame. In auto mode they very inconsistent and don’t correlate with amount of rain or vehicle speed. Adjusting sensitivity level does absolutely nothing.
FIVEOFEVER You realize not every convenience feature is a necessity, right? That’s why they’re called a convenience. Do you drive an auto transmission? If you need your car to change gears for you shouldn’t be driving in the first place.
more stupid electronic overkill. more things to break. make sure melting ice/snow isn't holding the wiper arm in place when on auto so that they come on.
I'm now into my third CX-5 (2022) and your explanation for the rain sensor setting has been by far the best and easiest to understand. Thank you!
Thank you! Very clear, easy to understand instructions. I have had my 2019 Mazda for about a month and couldn't figure out why the wipers wouldn't work on intermittent. Now I know.
Been fighting with these wipers for 2 years now. Thank you.
I was going crazy trying to figure out how to get the intermittent wipers to work. I did not realize I had to turn off the rain sensor. Thank you!!
Great tutorial video that is to the point. I didn't know that by turning the rain sensor off , they revert to intermittent mode. Handy to know. Thank you
Finally a car video I understand. Lol I didn’t realize my wipers were off and thought the rain sensing was broken. Thank you for a clear video. :)
Just don't forget to turn your rain sensors off before driving through a car wash
striper8311 Did that today 😬
Googled this while at the car wash right now😄
I hope you dont go to drive through car wash with your Mazda or any other car.
Went into a car wash with my new mazda and didn’t know how to turn the auto sensor off 😂..which is why I’m here :)
Just did that today! So I had to add a $27 wiper to my car wash bill. Now I know!
Thank you car-lady Lisa. I like your terminology and I will add "swooshy" to my vocabulary. I live in Newfoundland and Labrador so we have a lot of RDF (Rain, Drizzle & Fog). Great video ... I was just about to take my MX5 down to the dealers as I thought the sensor was broken. Thanks so much!!
Ty so much, that's exactly what I've been looking for and you are the only one who explained it so clearly 😃👍🏻
Appreciated this video thank you. I couldn't figure out why mine wouldn't come on even though it was checked in the vehicle tab. Hopefully now I've moved the wiper arm one click down I should be fine next time it rains. The mazda owners manual was no help.
Thank you for showing how to disable them. I just bought a Mazda 3 and hate the rain sensing feature. Now I know how to turn it off for good.
I didn't like mine at first, but I got used to it and like it now. It's not very good in light rain, where you have dry moments, but it's decent in moderate to heavy rain.
Never mind the rain sensing wipers your fingernails are beautiful! I love that color! Lol... Oh and thank you for the tutorial..😁

great, thank you Lisa, I did not want to go through the manual, you said it all I need to know
Thank you! One of things i only think about when it rains and i wonder how im supposed utilize this feature.
I've had my 2021 CX-5 for a year and a half, and can't stand the rain sensing setting. Thank you for showing me how to shut it off (and had intermittent instead)!
So pretty much everything I already did to check why my wipers stopped working and didn't fix the issue....nice to know
Perfectly explained. Thank you!
Ugh been trying to understand these wiper settings ! This helped immensely. Thanks for this video
Very helpful. I saw the setting in the menu but didn’t know what happened if I turn it off. Also I didn’t know which had more “swooshies” out of the plus and minus.
Thank you for this tutorial and I love your nails!
nice one - most helpful. Rather 'frustrating' trying to drive IN THE RAIN and have the '' trying to work out '' what works ect ect.
Awesome video. The rain sensing mode is not sensitive enough for me but LO is too fast for me.
I'm gonna try the interval mode like my rear wipers.
Good to know had my mazda 3 sport gt for 5 months and had no idea how to use it
Very helpful your instructions Carladylisa
I'm dying 😂
"Clickys and Swooshys"
Oh I love it! 🤣
i guess im asking randomly but does any of you know of a method to log back into an Instagram account??

@Chase Arjun instablaster =)
@Skylar Kendrick i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now.

Thanks I learn something on three year old Mazda 3 I thought my wiper stick was broke because the wiper slow than speed up with the car going faster.
You should buy some old car then from 1990 with no tech
Thank you lady. I thought my Mazda 3 intermittent wiper was broken. I didn't even know it had that rain sensor thingy.
I just bought a 2018 CX-3 GT and it is an awesome car
thank you - saved my lazy butt from plowing through the owners manuel! 😀
Thought I knew what this feature was but I looked it up just to be sure, thank you!

Very helpful! Thank you so much! Very detailed
thank you makes a lot of sense now
I just got a 2016 Mazda 3 sedan. It says it’s remote keyless entry but I’m not 100% sure how to get It to work
When she said "swooshies" I really felt that
I can't figure out how to wipe without the water jets
Great video!! I hate the auto sense and how no idea you can turn it off to manual override it!!
More Swooshies... now is that a technical term?! Thank you for the tutorial! 😃
She can sell...she sold me a Mazda I never wanted.
I turned off the rain sensing wiper feature on my 2022 CX-30, do not like that function, rest of car is great though.
I rate this vid 'More Better'!
One of the only things I absolutely hate with my ‘17 Mazda3. Sit at a stop light in a slight rain and the wipers go at warp speed. Start to accelerate and get up to speed, almost nothing and can’t see.
how do I find other tutorials you have made?
I like the sound effects
Very helpful, thanks.
Tq babe..U save my day
Great videos. Thank you
Thank you!!
Great tutorial. Thanks!
Which year and model is this?

Beautiful mazda 😍
it seems with mine i have to turn it to off and then back to auto everytime i start the car to get the sensors to work..anyone else have this problem?
Could be the sensor is faulty. You should not have to do this. If it is under warranty check with your local dealer.
Thank you 🙏
Does anyone know the diff betw the steering wheel auto rain sensing and the check box option in settings on the navigation screen?
Yes. If you unclick it from the screen, it will default your auto wiper setting on the steering wheel arm to an intermittent function which allows you to adjust how fast the wipers move regardless of the amount of water on the sensor. It basically puts you in full control of your swooshies ;-)
@@CarLadyLisa THANK YOU! It was raining on my way home tonight and I was wondering why my adjustment of the swooshies dial wasn't making a difference.
Thankyou good video
haha.. 'swooshy'.

Clickies, swooshies. Zoom zoomies. : )
Great feature to have.
the wife said it was going by itself. smh lol
Which button for the back wiper?
Hazel Fkd You twist the end of the wiper arm. It doesn't have the rain sensing function for the back. Just ON, Intermittent (ie. Slower) or off
CarLadyLisa thanks. What about filling the gas. I went to the gas station to fill the car, I didn't know how to open the filling gas on the right side. Is there any button inside I can press

CarLadyLisa thank you so much you've been helpful. 🤗
Thank you.
I just purchased a 2018 CX5 Touring
thank you, i think off mode can automaticly 😂
Mine doesn't say auto
Then you may have intermittent wipers only
Thank uuuuuuuuuuu
Why do Canadians hold the A in Mazda so long. Sounds like your saying Maaaaazda.
Just my accent eh. Like how I was taught to talk and whatnot you know. Sorry eh.
Mazda6 rain sensors are total shame. In auto mode they very inconsistent and don’t correlate with amount of rain or vehicle speed. Adjusting sensitivity level does absolutely nothing.
forgewire I have noticed that with my Lincoln MKX. I hate them. Give me the regular delayed wipers any day.
There can be a delay in the system re-acting to the conditions.
🌹👍
Just one clicky down, is she talking to first graders?
If she is talking to you, then yes.
If you need a sensor to turn on your wipers for you then you shouldn't be driving in the first place...Useless option
FIVEOFEVER You realize not every convenience feature is a necessity, right? That’s why they’re called a convenience. Do you drive an auto transmission? If you need your car to change gears for you shouldn’t be driving in the first place.
Swooshies? Ugh
MAHZ-dah, not MAZZ-dah.
Lol. Those silly Canadians do the same thing with pasta and garage. I can’t help but laugh.
more stupid electronic overkill. more things to break. make sure melting ice/snow isn't holding the wiper arm in place when on auto so that they come on.
Ojj
Too much talk
