Steve Perry saved journey in 1977...and until now...Steve is the signature voice of journey❤️❤️❤️
🎯💯🎯💯🎯💯🎯 You got that right perfectly said
Thats true no one replace him coz of how he way singing with so much of emotion and the fans feel it thats why millions of fans loved him
@@danteabadilla3458 Correction, “Love”him. They will never stop.
Absolutely!👍😊
I've just watched they singing at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I imagine it would be unpolite for Perry to sing, but Arnel was not good. And after all it would be a delight if both had sang...
I swear, Steve Perry sounds like such a down to Earth guy.. a person I'd love to hang out with. One of the greatest rock voices in history. Steve, you're great.
George: One time my uncle was at a restaurant to this and then people were saying that Steve Perry was at the restaurant then my uncle realized that he was talking to Steve Perry and I was shocked when he told me that.
It's Ya Boi Lavonne James Did your uncle say anything about what he was like or what they were talking about?
He is a awesome singer.
@@grantnewman3617 what were they talking about
@Scott Stevens Nah, He's just a hermit now. I suppose someone that has become isolated could be viewed as an asshole, but I just think that he wants to be left alone.
I love Steve Perry. Best vocalist of all time.
I think most of usa for africa , those are the people i listen to musically!
Totally agreed.
Indeed💜
I quadruple agree!
Or quintuple :)
Steve Perry still has an awesome voice in my opinion. At 68 now he don't need to go so high, he will still capture every woman's heart with his soulfulness. He still sings from the heart and sounds just as he should....... perfect!!!!!
he's 68? he doesn't look like it
Wilmie! And still sings like an Angel❤️
More like CAN'T sing that high. Steven Tyler is the exception.
Even Mariah Carey can't hit high notes anymore and she just turned 50
😅🍀🏆Seems that your life's journey has bought you to Steven😅a great stop, I say😍
Steve Perry is by far the best lead singer Journey has ever had.
Lee i agree!
Period
Listen to Voyage
No shit
@@kennethlalla1779hugo sings in falsetto and he's not good at all by doing that, he just has the looks
Steve Perry was the sexiest frontman ever - his charisma, his features, his hair and his amazing voice!!!
Amen to that! And for 74, he STILL looks good! How many 74 year olds can say that?
Steve Perry IS Journey!! Yesterday, today and forever 💞
You're absolutely right! I feel the same way.
Always have since 1978 when I was twenty. Infinity was my first Journey album and in my opinion their absolute best album!
Original and timeless.
Goosebumps!
Steve's voice and also his compositions opened up
a whole new range of possibilities for the instrumental part of Journey's music.
His voice made it possible for the band, to become even more creative and challenged to give it their best! Like Neal said : doing concerts wasn't work, it was fun and it was exciting.
Steve brought a precious thing with him when he
joined Journey : loads of inspiration!
And from that moment on, Journey's journey actually started!
Right place, right time!
That's what it's all about!
And what makes Steve's voice so special, is the fact that he is a 'Mensch'..
You can here his emotions through his voice..
He is modest and determined, which is a very nice combination, I think.
Still listen to Infinity regularly. And other Journey music online.
Thank you, Steve Perry.😊
@Steve Perry WOW! Thank you very much, Steve! I truly appreciate you!
You said that you would give me your gmail address but I think that you forgot to mention it below?😊
Journey will never be journey without Steve . That band was his baby. No one can imitate him.
You are exactly right Alice...I would not walk across the street to hear Arnel with the others for free!
Cheryl Boles ...your right, Im staying on your side of the street!!!
JoAnn Spencer 😅🤣😂
Boomers stuck in the past. The other members are just as important.
@@PaulNolanMusic no they are not. BTW Steve is so cute.
One of the greatest bands in human history.
Let's not get carried away here. Journey WAS good but they're not the greatest, at least not in the same league as; AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Beatles, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Foo Fighters, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Rush, Van Halen,

I love Journey. This is my favorite band ever. Steve Perry's voice is golden. It's perfection. This interview was 81 82 . I was born in August of 81 . I chose journey over the boy bands when I was a teenager like backstreet boys , 98 degrees Nsync.
jeflynnenut yes it is . I love that Steve Perry is putting new music.
Steve Perry, Steve Perry, Steve Perry. Steve Perry! Yes!! Steve Perry.
steve perry is journey, journey could not would not be journey without Steve beautiful voice, I think someone should offer him a ungodly amount of money to return to the stage and sing. he's awesome!!!!
Lets hope he shows up with the band for the RRHOF induction.
Toda la razón, Steve Perry siempre, el mejor vocalista de los tiempos único real auténtico excelente
Connie J Colyer Unfortunately Steve isn't in it for the money, he is a super simple guy, he still wouldn't return to the stage for touring😢 he may do a show off the cuff like when he did the Eels, but he is almost 71 now that sweet sexy stunning Stevie!!👍👍
Yes...Steve Perry ❤
Steve is the man.
Love them!
Journey's real journey started when Steve joined the band.
Steve's voice and compositions opened up a whole new range of possibilities..
The sound and capacity of his voice upgraded the instrumental part of Journey and they adjusted
fully to Steve's capacities.
Steve has a voice like no other.
He gives everything.
He is modest and determined, which is a
great combination.
For me, Steve Perry is Journey.
I still listen to every Journey album with Steve.
I bought my first Journey
album 'Infinity" in 1978, when I was twenty and it's still my favorite Journey album.
Masterpiece.
This album helped me through some very difficult times in my life.
I saw Journey live only once in my life : at the Pinkpop Festival in the Netherlands, 15 may 1978.
I'll never forget it..
Thank you, Steve Perry!😊👍
Neal Schon is a fantastic guitarist. Steve Perry wonderful and unique vocals. Journey's songwriting was epic.
The best thing that ever happened to Journey,Steve Perry. How I would love to see he and Neal get together and do something for the fans.
He is the voice of journey love him n his sound n music
I was so excited when my brother in law text me and told me your man is back he sent me a clip of his song and interview that was music to my ears it brought tears to my eyes seeing how Steve has got the passion back for music he is truly by far the greatest singer I have ever listened to and I will enjoy his music as long as I live thank you Steve for an over due come back 💖
Yvette Robertson Thats awesome...growing up my brother and I would listen to Stevie everyday and from 2015-2018 we listened daily again after my brother had a double stroke rendering him paralyzed neck down so we enjoyed our old music and he always told me Stevie would return and my heartbreak is he was right but unfortunately he lost his battle July 30, 2018 only 2 weeks before Steve announced his return so it breaks my heart to know that I couldn't call up my big bro and celebrate with him. He was 4 years my senior and I cherished him!!💔 The new track "We Fly" I have for me bro & I👍
All of the band members were great together. I do not think they should move on with out Steve but that is just me . Steve is irreplaceable to me and He is the one who brought them success with his vocals and style and everything he brought . He was the one straining his vocal cords every night so they could get a paycheck I think it's kinda weird how some people think they can do things or replace very well liked people. He deserves my respect .
Perry was certainly an integral part of the group's mainstream popularity and commercial success. When he mentions in the interview that "Open Arms" was dismissed by some as being "cheeky", I believe that he meant to say "cheesy".
roguenation No, he meant to say "cheeky." That was the exact word that Jon Cain said his former band members called the song when they rejected it. And Steve is just repeating what Jon told him. This was in another interview.
Rick A ...He deserves and has my respect...your right, like Steve said back in 98, continue but leave Journey don't fracture it, they were just to money hungry!! They could have & should have waited for Steve and thats the reason I would NEVER see them since!! Steve has my vote!
I could not have said it better myself....Exactly give the man his due he earned it and definitely deserves the respect !!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve Perry is the best and has touched the hearts and lives of millions of people along his Journey. I love every note that has come from the lungs of that man, fast forward to today ...his TRACES album is absolutely beautiful and I want to thank him and the wonderful soul that (Kellie Nash) must have been, and sent him back to his fans to share that beautiful voice, heart and soul again.
Steve perry is a kind hearted kid.
Yeah A Kind Hearted Kid Who Got Aynsley Dunbar Fired!!!!
@@elenaofavalormoanadisneypr6893 you mean DumbBar. He is the one who was fired for all the heavy drinking and not being able to keep his nasty hands off the under aged girls. Steve Perry wasn't responsible for him getting fired. He caused it on himself.
@@slamecatzwell5544 What? Is that what really happened? I had only heard that Aynsley didn’t like the melodic pop direction that the band was going in with Steve Perry - he preferred the fusion stuff the band had been doing and didn’t want to change it. Was that just a cover story? Or just part of the story? Is Dunbar’s misbehavior documented somewhere? Man, first Aynsley with this story, then Deen with the domestic violence, then Steve trying to take over Nightmare Productions - Journey’s luck with drummers is almost as bad as Spinal Tap’s!
@@scottvelardo700 according to Breaking The Band Documentary that is what happened. One of the commentators said he was a very heavy drinker and liked the under aged girls. Yes he and Perry had disagreements about his style of drum playing but, according to that documentary he was causing trouble for the group because of his excessive drinking and young girl mixing. He also didn't like the direction the band was headed.
@@slamecatzwell5544 Thanks! I’ll have to look for that documentary. I loved Aynsley’s drumming, and the band’s styles both before and with “the two Steves.” More info is always welcome because no one source ever tells the whole story. Sounds like Breaking the Band fills in some gaps most interviews don’t. I just heard an interviewer ask Perry if he ever had instructions for te drummers in Journey. He paused and chuckled and said, “i had ideas now and then, yeah,” and quickly went into an anecdote about playing Aynsley’s drums for soundchecks joking that for a few minutes he’d “get to be the drummer in Journey.” Ha! Thanks again!
Maravilloso Journey Con Steve Perry🥰🥰🥰
I see Steve Perry like he wants to say that there was any support with his band members or management. If I never heard faithfully from Journey . That song will always be in my heart. I love you Steve Perry. 💖😘
I totally agree, Love Steve Perry. No matter what he is singing, it will totally be AWESOME
Journey Awesome Band with the Greatest Rock Singer of all time.......Steve Perry
I love Steve Perry! Steven Perry is Journey.
Open Arms is my favorite song of theirs! I’m so glad that Jonathan started it and Steve had finished it! 😍😍😍
My favourite too.
Great choice, for me Winds of March is my favorite, the whole interpretation is just beautiful :)
Steve Perry was...and is...so beautiful and appealing
Beautiful eyes.
Beautiful dark eyes and thay shiny black hair...
Steve Perry was such a nice guy to Jonathan Cain to appreciate his music to "Open Arms" and want to help him finish it with the lyrics and only a slight change of the melody to fit Steve Perry's singing.
BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A. Barnard YUP your full of BULLSHIT!!! Cant handle the truth obviously!! Pathetic people lmfao
Steve knew a great song when he heard it. Glad he and Jon fought to keep it on the record.
Imagine any journey song without vocals of any kind, ok, then cue Steve's vocals. now you get it
there was journey without vocals and that's why they couldn't make it...Steve Perry was a vocal force and if you ask me he still has it...I'm a steve perry junkie but there will never be a reunion because neil is happy just playing and now if you ask me it's just a tribute band and neil keeps getting paid
Happy to know Steve Perry's new album is released in October 2018......can't wait......welcome back Mr. Voice!!!!
Yeah, Steve Perry should have a fine time pushing the album on the "AARP Circuit."
@@a.barnard3205 hahahahaha, but Steve Perry does have a unique voice and I'll have to check out his new album. Journey Forever!!!!!! 🤘
@@a.barnard3205 Ha Ha, It went to #6 on the Billboard chart.
Neal + Steve + Jonathan = some of the best music ever. I never really understood why Neal and Steve couldn't make it work. One needs the other to make their best music, and Jonathan contributed greatly to their music's tone and character. Just wish they had stayed together following their reunion for Trial by Fire. The perfect song in my opinion would include 3-4 minutes of guitar solo laced with Steve's vocals and each song running at least 6 minutes in length.
These guys didn’t support Steve when his mother was ill & he had to travel to be with her. They performed so frequently that his voice couldn’t have rested & recovered between gigs. They could walk away from their musical instruments but he couldn’t. Plus he wanted to work on his relationship with his gf. They thought he was being difficult by not spending all his free time with them. They were immature & just wanted to tour. He had responsibilities. He had hip pain & trying to avoid painful surgery. He had melanoma. He didn’t feel like he fit in because they made him feel like that. Eventually a person would hate living like that. I think that’s why he walked away.
Steve is so funny....I love the way the marched in there and knocked their session geek heads together and made them hits...he should have been even more aggressive.
I was so in love with Steve Perry when i was young im 50 still to this day i have a picture of him on my wall from 1984 many years ago my Uncle always said people said he looked like Steve Perry i think he was delusional that was his favorite band he just died he was only 60 i miss him so much i wish he was here right now so i could of showed him this interview !!
Too bad and kind of sad that Steve had to fight tooth and nail to get songs on the albums that he knew were good and would be timeless. Steve just knew and he was right. Love Steve Always & Forever!!!
They played me to sleep a lot of nights in the 80’s 🤣🤣 Couldn’t go wrong with that voice ❤️
I can't stop starring at them! They're so cute!!!
SummerI agree!
Perry is definitely the reason for Journey's success. Faithfully is my favorite song of all time. But you gotta love Steve Smith. Dude's so cool.
Neal & Steve are about the best vocalist/guitarist you can find in rock history. From the first album they did together 'Infinity' then 'Evolution' after that 'Departure'. The 4th one was a live one titled 'Captured' with songs from the first 3. So the 5th one together 'Escape' was their biggest. The first 4 all sold 3 million or more but 'Escape' sold over 10 million. The 6th was Frontiers it sold 5 million. Then you had 'Raised On Radio' the 7th it sold around 4 million. Their 10th year together the 8th release was a 'Greatest Hits' it has sold around 15 to 20 million one of the biggest ever. They then had a box set called 'Time' their 9th release it was platinum. Their 10th and last release with new songs was called 'Trial By Fire' right around their 20th year or close to it and it sold around 4 to 5 million. Those 10 albums are the ones that in order with Steve has new songs on it anything afterward is live/hits stuff.
These guys are a big reason I took great music for granted back then. I just thought great music coming out of FM was as sure as death and taxes…boy did I turn out to be really wrong. Thanks for the memories guys!
Steve is the man ❤️
TH-cam will keep them, forever Young!
Ross remark about Steve being in a band that was falling apart was not really true Steve's band was getting ready to sign a recording contract when a unfortunate car accident took the life of a band member. But Journey on the other hand was on the verge of losing their contract when Steve was brought in so Steve saved their ass.

Unbelievably talented musicians, artists and lyricists, all of you guys but… I have to admit that every time I hear Steve Perry sing “I just want to hold you..”, even to this very day, I’d take a flight from the East Coast to the West just to be in his arms! His eyes say that he has that need to be held, loved, comforted and to feel safe! I need nothing more, nor would he!
I’ve lived the solitary life for over a decade by choice but just to be in his arms, depending upon his wishes, would be my greatest wish…or to simply whisper gentle, loving words for countless hours. Who knows, I’m an accomplished acoustic pianist, 60 years beginning at age 5, to accompany him, privately, of course.
@StevePerryMusic someone on the other side of our Nation is always thinking of you, always has, wishes and dreams of just one moment. “Maybe this year”! It’s always possible. I know my life would be complete!

For the most part, Steve's a lover, but you really didn't want to piss him off then. He has mellowed with age.
He's a singer, a lover and not a fighter!😁
Steve was an R&B guy at heart. You can see those influences all over Raised on Radio, which he produced.

Steve Perry ♥ la voz más hermosa brillante 😘 bello
steve smith sounds like the most down to earth guy from the band
He has four children and he's long-timed married, so he does sound pretty down-to-earth and stable. Great drummer as well.
I love the original group of Journey with Steve Perry ❤. Brooklyn Profitt.
From interviews I've heard, Ansley was too heavy on the drums for Steve Perry's voice to be in the forefront which is what they wanted. They also said he was a dick, and they were already friends with Steve Smith and thought he'd be a better fit. I prefer the days with Rollie, and Cain took the group in a different direction. I thought the real Journey sound was lost after Rollie left. But Steve Perry has always been about changing the sound to stay fresh for the fans, and he is a brilliant songwriter who knew how to write a song that sold copies. You can tell from this interview tensions were a bit high about some of the changes. This was the period when Steve Perry was taking more control and had conflicts with management. Interesting interview, thanks for sharing.
That's the first time I've ever heard anything negative about Ansley Dunbar. He played from the heart...pounded the drums with great conviction like Bonham. I love that 'heavy' sound that he produced.
@@outoworkdreamer He's still playing. Did well after with Starship

Steve Perry *was* Journey.
I've said that forever. 100% agree.
Love Steve Perry, love Journey. Neal Schon is a great guitar beyond Steve's legendary vocals. Greg Rolly and Jonathan Cain are also great in my book
I knew Ross Valorys brother, Brett, in San Francisco in the late 70s. He would wear his satin Journey jacket into Mabuhay Gardens, a punk club in North Beach. He didn't exactly fit in. Lol! But he was a nice dude.
Steve Perry made Journey....
1000%
Agreed
After watching a day's worth of Perry interviews from the last few years... I came upon this video and I couldn't recognize Perry's voice. His age has changed so much in 40+ years
I think he’s aged gracefully. Neal and Jon are somehow still touring. But like Steve said years ago that when your instrument is your voice…
Journey would not be Journey without Steve Perry
Journey was nothing before or after Steve Perry. He was the band period.
I couldn't agree more, John, I love Steve Perry. Anyone who thinks Journey is anything without Steve Perry has lost their mind. The distinctive Journey sound is Steve's voice. I miss Steve and the band without that sound, nothing else comes close!
+John gatti ABSOLUTELY!!
+John gatti Ouch. That doesn't say much for the rest of the band members. Without Cain, you wouldn't have had most of the hits and without Schon you wouldn't have had all of those insane solos, etc. IMO, they were ALL a quintessential part of the formula that made Journey what it was. It was a TEAM effort.
+TJ Anderson They seemed to have replaced Steve pretty successfully with that phillipino guy who sounds just like Perry. Ya know what I mean?! They had some hits and are a decent band but they are a third tier band. Music is just not serious enough to be up there with the likes of Stones, Who, Bowie, Zeppelin. Not even close as a matter of fact. I don't think it matters if Perry is with them or not. People will go see them because they have several simple but memorable songs from the late 70's and early 80's. I think they are very fortunate to have had the success that they've had. They appeal to people who do not take their music seriously. The types that have their radios turned up to 3 at work humming "The Lights go Down In the City" blah blah. Those types. Ya know what I mean. Very safe, no controversy type rock/pop music. Three minute songs, standard little guitar solos. You, know what I mean?! Their happy because they've made a living at it. Making it as well as they have is a great accomplishment for anybody, but I'm just looking at them from a serious rock music fan perspective. I listen to groups like Yes, David Bowie, Lou Reed, The Who, The Stones, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, bands like that who created their own brand of rock music. Yes created Progressive Rock music- a whole genre in itself. Jethro Tull-leading with a flute player. Pink Floyd-they are their own genre of music. Bowie is still making albums that are different, ever changing and relevent at almost 69 years old. The Stones are the Stones. The Who, although not doing anything for a long time, made some music that is legendary back in the 70's and can hold its own with any rock music from any time. Lou Reed was a poet who put his poems in songs. Journey made some nice radio hits but did not forge their own path so to speak. What else can you say?
+TJ Anderson TJ, I agree, Early Journey now sounds like dynamic progressive rock, while the Perry period was pop rock. To me early Journey ages better.
This interview that I just saw they look so young they work so well together it's a shame they don't do that still I still listen to the records in the 45 once in awhile Good Times

Steve Perry saved this band from prog-rock-death-by-solo-hell.
The best lead singer of this group JOURNEY hands down is 👉 STEVE PERRY 👈 his voice is amazing none of the other lead after him can match STEVE PERRY point blank PERIODT his vocal Skillz cant be messed with by anyone!!!!
I believe that Journey and Steve Perry saved or developed, each other. They had a mutual groove that worked so well together.
During Journey's heyday ('77-'83) I always thought Steve Perry was the straw that stirred the drink (because in many ways he was), but after watching a couple of interviews with him in recent years, turns out he was actually a pretty divisive guy -- we just never knew it. I still love their music, but my opinion of him has changed since those early days. When, after his first retirement in the 90's, he said he never really felt like he was a part of the band... that was a real head-scratcher for me. But after his two more-recent interviews I mentioned, yeah, I can see why he felt that way. Feelin' That Way! lolol
Love Steve
No Disrespect but for me and alot of people they had never heard of Journey until Steve Perry joined his iconic voice put Journey on the map the success has been due to his voice and song writing. Every singer you have tried to replace him with has been a imitation of his voice again No Disrespect just being honest! Steve Perry is Journey with Neil, Jon, Greg, and the other Steve that's Journey ❤
Steve Perry sounds so pissed off the last half of the interview, very cute.
It is said that Schon verbally taunted SP while he was in the recording booth singing his heart out to make 'Open Arms", shaking his head and calling him Wayne Newton etc.... It is also said that Jon Caine, who co-wrote the song was mouthy about it too while standing next to Schon. Yes SP is CUTE:) and was rightfully pissed about the crap he put up with in Re: to putting out one of the biggest power ballads ever. Caine didn't even stick up for his own song.
Wish Flower I guess there are two separate 'sets' of Journey fans...the ones who like the old and the ones who like the newer Journey with Cain. I love ESCAPE but to me it was the last great Journey album. Never been a fan of Open Arms really...too weepy for me. So I can understand why Neal would have given SP a hard time about it. I feel that with Cain on board, Neal eventually got too commercially minded. He's still one of my favorite players though.

Yeah, but it just shouldn't have come to that level of disrespect over one song. The man is in the booth trying to be a professional and they are outside the glass sneering and verbally taunting him. I would have come out and punched him in the dammed face. It was so bad the producer or somebody had to kick them out. And the bastards got rich from it.
Wish Flower C'mon, Neal was just aggravating him, you know ... joking around. He was a rocker, Steve Perry...not so much...But Steve Perry got over it.
Like I said, there are two schools of Journey fans, the ones who buy Journey records because of weepy songs like open arms and the ones who buy their records because they believe that without Neil Schon and Greg Rolie, and Ross Vallory, Journey would never have been...Journey. Well Steve Perry got rid of Greg Rolie and Ross Vallory....so draw your own conclusion as to who the 'villains' are...people make mistakes...I don't hold it against SP...I love his voice, but I also love the way Greg Rolie sings.
I agree with Neal about "Mother Father"... I consider it a true masterpiece on every level... the lyrics, Steve's vocals, the musicianship by every member of the band. Amazing!!
Yes it is!!!!!
These band members seem like a bunch of controlling, ego-maniacal dudes. And then there's Steve Perry in a gentlemanly and talented league of his own.
When it's "I" over "we" it equals ego... the "we" went on, after the "I" was tearing the "we" apart... Even when ego's agree it's still a "we"... and shouldn't ego actually be igo ? lol,,, (it'susually what happens eventually)... My opinion from being in bands, so coming from a non ego guy lol...
@willie billie if the drummer too fast or too slow, it's usually the vocalists with the tougher situation... Then again, the singer needs things to go to his pace. Just ask one, lol... Truth is, all need to play to the correct rhythm timing, or it's off for one reason or another... IF one is off, the others duty is to help things fall together. Any thing else is not a band.
I imagine it was tough to watch a family while his heart was breaking,,, That's no excuse though, Steve knows that now. It broke Journey when they split. Like Shaun said, one member change can make or break the entire band. Steve did both.
Huh, your an ass
I like jon cain too
Exactly!!!
interesting insight into the band
